I honestly can't believe the amount of accessories that comes with the Artillery Stormtrooper! It kinda reminds me of an orange line release. Mortar setup, 4 shells, E-11 blaster, backpack w/ storage, pauldron, slick paint job? I'm hyped on that. Great review, Mike! -Justin
For some perspective, 8 years have passed since that first 6” Han Solo was released. The entire vintage Kenner line only ran for 8 years (1978-1985). This is one I might pick up if I see it somewhere. Are there any other figures that are getting rereleased like this?
No extra hands, but who uses the gloved hands. His gun either has the silver tip or not. They have all 3 original cast coming out, wonder if that's why leia was picked.
I got the original release a few years later off Ebay. Yep the face isn't the best and he has a swan giraffe neck, but the amount of accessories (piloting gloved hands etc) and the fact that this is the Iconic look for solo made it a must have. I now have Bespin Han which has a better face height and elbow bend, but I wish they'd re-do this one from scratch. Butterfly joints for the shoulders and Jaina Solo's torso articulation please.
I was more happy with this updated figure than most of the recent ones. The face looks a lot better. Ultimately, it was a nice update to the shelf. My biggest grievance is the inconsistent paint color between the face and the neck. On mine, the neck is almost the same shade as the shirt. I know you're color blind, but I can see this same occurrence on yours too (maybe not as drastic, but it is there).
@@MikeKaess Thanks for the tip! Hey Mike, it seems your new ANH Luke's belt is lower than the one that came with the original one. This was one of my complaints with the original release. That belt rode way to high, and it made it look terrible. Can you confirm the new Luke's belt hangs lower than the original ANH Luke? Thanks in advance!
Like you I bought one to replace the original on my shelf with the early bird stand (not sure why I’m still using that display either as it’s outdated…🤷🏻♂️) because of the face update. It’s just OK, nothing to get excited about. I actually now have it displayed with Greedo sticking him up where he says “Going somewhere Solo?” in the Cantina. Han looks better with hands up surrendering to Greedo than just standing there. Anyway, thanks for the review. I assume you’ll wrap this wave up with Greedo next.
@@TheScouser77 me too. Especially the series these guys came from. But I dug the look of them. And I’ve recently gotten into watching the Japanese series that Power Ranger came from (super Sentai) and I actually dig it a lot.
Picked up Archive Chewbacca at Ollie's for $10, so of course now in the market for a Han. This video was really helpful for both a look at the figure and a glimpse at how it compares to the original (that I am totally unfamiliar with). Great as always, Mike!
This could have been a definitive episode 4 Han had they included the hands. Would have at least justified the price and availability if he had everything the previous releases had, and better paint. It just feels kinda insulting. Bespin or Endor Han are definitely better choices if you want a 'definitive' Han without ridiculous pricing and availability
I think they also could have given him a headset he had on when he was in the gunner station of the millennium Falcon. But yeah, I agree with you there. It’s just kind of a bummer that the Bespin and Endor Hans only come with a blaster
I forgot about the headset. There are so many cool accessories Han could come with. I'd be willing to buy a deluxe episode 4, 5, or 6 Han if he came with all this and a new sculpt. They'd more than make the money back
Thanks for the look at this figure. With the increased price, and no upgrades, this is an easy pass for me. Hasbro has been making it much easier to not be a completionist. As always, the review was greatly appreciated.
Great review. All your description was right on. Face not really resembling him long neck gangly anatomy. You would think they would create a new sculpt instead of repainting a mediocre sculpt from 2013. Hard pass
They’d probably just not do it at that rate. Not worth it. Look how long it took to redo Clones/Stormtroopers and those aren’t even specific characters.
Anxiously awaiting my wave 40 set of Black series to come in, I'm really looking forward to Aurra Sing. I started collecting Figuarts because of the likeness and articulation issues this Han mold and the others of the time had. Lately, BS has been killing it. I really hope they decide to go back and actually remold some of these characters one day.
Not much into the POTF, but great review Mike. I would definitely pick up the new cantina scene with Kenobi and the Dr with Ponda Baba. That looks amazing.
Great review. I'm a '70s kid (or '80s teen, as I like to say) and didn't care for the POTF2 figs in the '90s. I had (still have) all the vintage figs and the bulky ones just didn't compare. I don't collect The Black Series, but probably would pass on these POTF2 50th Anniversary editions if I did. No nostalgic appeal.
oh man! you're right, i totally forgot about that Toyrs R Us exclusive. Good call out. But that being said, it was still a 2013 release, which still makes it pretty old. But you're absolutely right.
Yay Pulse exclusives. It's like they work "nine to five".,and make quota at 1pm.,and instead of working for more profit 'til 5pm (making Pulse available around THE WORLD).,they'd rather knock off at 1pm and go home? 🖕🖕🖕 Hasbro.,🖕🖕🖕 Cheers Mike
Probably the worst head sculpt in the whole line. I was disappointed this release didn't get a new head sculpt. The photo real printing helps the sculpt but only so much, I don't see any likeness to Harrison Ford, except maybe for the hair. Easy pass for me, especially considering the price point. I still have my Star Wars Trilogy THX VHS tapes! I remember the advertising campaign for the set stating it was the last time to get the original trilogy. Little did we know......
I'm sorry, but Han Solo '77 from SH Figuarts still blows the Black Series one out of the water, 2014 or 2021; ironically, I think The Mandalorian's Luke Skywalker (green saber) of Hasbro is better than the Figuarts one (which might be one of the very worst things Figuarts ever did).

The artillery trooper has SO. MUCH. I’m so excited.

Farm Luke and Greedo. And they're both Pulse and shop Disney exclusives.
Oof. That is some perspective for sure.
Great review! Subscribed!!
Awesome, thank you!
THX VHS tapes: A New Hope had Vader on the box. Empire was a Stormtrooper and ROTJ was Yoda.... I CRUSHED those tapes also lol.
Yep! Those are the ones! With the Leonard Maltin interview in front of the movies
New Solo, New Farmboy Luke, New R2, the list just grows and grows.
Yep!
No extra hands, but who uses the gloved hands. His gun either has the silver tip or not. They have all 3 original cast coming out, wonder if that's why leia was picked.
Probably was why she got picked. Good catch.

Bespin Han is one of my absolute favorite Hans

Yeah that face and neck difference is pretty huge. His skin looks pale and pastey
I still have the original. I really don't know if I should get this version.
I think you’re fine skipping it

It’s absolutely very ok
Mike what are those two figures on the left of the screen? They are really cool
They’re Cogs from the Power Rangers Lightning Collection
@@MikeKaess Thank you kind sir. I was too old for power rangers when they hit.

I agree with that! Although…. I still am…. *sigh*
How bad is it I want to buy this for the trooper belt? Great video, Great Cantina video too. Thanks for taking my question there.
Nope! It’s a legit reason!
Great review. All your description was right on. Face not really resembling him long neck gangly anatomy. You would think they would create a new sculpt instead of repainting a mediocre sculpt from 2013. Hard pass
I really wished they'd done a new sculpt. I still hope they do.
Mike, while we miss your smiling face, this format is working really well. This was hilarious.
I’m glad you like it. I’m going to switch it up, but this style is much easier to bang out a quickie
They could go back to the drawing board with both. Plenty would buy them.
They’d probably just not do it at that rate. Not worth it. Look how long it took to redo Clones/Stormtroopers and those aren’t even specific characters.
Yeah. Maybe one day. But now… I don’t think that day will be soon
@@MikeKaess agreed.
Hey mike! When are you going to review the rest of the black series clone wars collection? Looking forward to it! Btw I love your vids
Yes. I absolutely will.

I'm hoping that the next Han Solo has a new body; it's really showing its age.
Absolutely

i'm glad you like it!
New Hope Han solo outfit is very iconic this is way better than the Original huge improvement I cannot wait to get this Figure!

Agreed
This is a solid release for newer collectors but the price makes this a pass for me. Solid review Mike. ✌️
That’s a healthy attitude!
The new release is missing his mint lip balm in the belt. I know, who Leia would choose…
disappointing the neck paint doesnt even match 0_o

The head sculpt skin tone not matching the neck and hands is terrible. For a the increased price it is not acceptable
