Can i ask something? If i have got 1 HDD is it possible to raid this HDD's disks between them? I know that a HDD have got lots of disks inside of them so, if it's possible to raid those disks between them this would give a high speed to HDD.
Hi, it is possible to partition a disk and assign drive letters to those partitions. This can be useful to practice and learn about raid types in something like windows. But there is no performance or redundancy benefit if your are only using one physical hard disk drive.
If you're using RAID 5 data and parity will be spread across the drives equally. You can add more drives to increase the storage capacity, however you must also take into account partitions.
Now that’s what I call a proper explanation 🙂
Thank you so much!
I second it.....much appreciated knowledge
This video is useful me after 7 years 😀
A very insightful explanation into a complicated topic. Well done!
+Nicholas Doropoulos Great feedback! Many thanks for your comments.
Beautifully explained ! Wishing you will go into more details on the mechanics of parity in another video
Many thanks for your kind comments and feedback.
Very informative and concisely put
thank you very much. just preparing for an exam and this helped me big time!
I'm glad the video helped. I really appreciate the feedback👍 Good luck with the exam!!
thank you very much for this video. I wasnt really understanding RAIDS terms like mirroring and striping before
Thanks, I'm glad you found the video helpful.
Simple and easy to understand. Good work
many thanks!
Very easy to understand. Thanks.
Many thanks!
great video, very clear. thanks
Amazing explanation!!!
Many thanks👍

Array -> 00:54
Fault Tolerance -> 01:15
Performance -> 01:26
Data Striping -> 01:34
RAID 0 -> 01:57
RAID 1 -> 02:44
RAID 5 -> 03:45
very nice
Thank you.
Thank you!
;) The presentation makes it easier to understand!
