The second the other mother came in with the vocals it literally took my breath away, my jaw dropped and i let out an audible gasp which led to a bunch of worried looks from the other train passengers. Incredible! Thanks so much for this
No I think she looks lovely. Good job with the harps and vocals. I don't know how you did it but it's really good. I save this song for rainy days, like in Coraline.

Thanks to Julia K for providing awesome vocals for this, and being the very image of the Other Mother over my shoulder! Julia's channel: ua-cam.com/users/juliakk1 I have loved Coraline since first seeing it in the cinema in 2009, and have wanted to tackle this particular cue ever since! Coraline's curiosity, zeal, and carefree attitude is so perfectly summed up within the combination of harp and vocals. I love how strangely the original is mixed and presented too - I wondered for years whether the harp is all sampled, and although I know that harpist Helene Breschand did work on the score, and it does often sound like a real person playing, the overall effect of this cue still mystifies me as it doesn't all sound... well, real. The main challenge of arranging this was condensing the parts, as there are several overdubbed parts that run at once in both harp and vocal - in the end I elected to make this a duet for two harps, with two vocal parts! This piece also appealed to me as yet another challenge to play lots of fast harmonics... you may have noticed I really love harmonics. I'll take basically any excuse to play them.
This is amazing! Coraline is one the most fascinating and creepiest movies that I've ever seen. Thank you for covering this song. It sounds beautiful with the harp and vocal guest star Julie has an amazing voice :)
I believe that the song "Dreaming" foreshadows that Coraline dreams about this "perfect world" but the Other Mother glorifies having buttons for eyes and losing her real parents forever, which Coraline is clever enough to realise. The Other Father song is a warning. "Our eyes will be on Coraline" shows that the Other Mother is watching her. Later in the movie, the Other Father says "her strength is our strength", meaning that although the Other Mother gets stronger, the dolls she made (Other Father and Other Wybie) develop their own mind and conscience, so they realise Coraline is in danger and try to save her from her terrible fate.
this song is brings such nostalgia to me. my sister and i used to watch this movie constantly, and it was my favorite film for many years. i love the bittersweet feeling it gives off, and it will always be a staple of my childhood. you’re an amazing musician and you bring me peace every time I listen to your amazing covers.
omg i thought the person dressed as coraline would sing it, but that took a turn and the beldam sang it im really happy for how much effort was put into this

This is so creative, the woman singing is dressing up as Coraline's Other Mother, And the other one is dressing up as Coraline. It's like her other mother making her doing something and she sings
Am I the only one who LOVES Coraline? I tell people I love that movie but they say it's creepy, and scary. Its literally so amazing, the work they put into this movie is outta this world!!!!
i literally found this through instagram beautiful cosplays, aesthetic and most of all beautiful music it sounds just like the film soundtrack like it was on there already~
You dont know how fast i checked the description to see if it was on spotify because this is breathtaking. I love how bassy the harp is too! it really adds some nice undertones and depth to an otherwise very light song
Every time I hear this tune, it takes me back to my childhood. The mood of the song is so full of hope and curiosity. I love this movie so much. It’s my all time favorite. Thank you LAIKA. Coraline is a beautiful work of art. Really captures the story that Neil Gaiman was trying to tell. 😭
I can't find the original on Spotify, but for now, I get a nice approximation. Really love seeing your fingers dance around the strings. EDIT: Ever since I wrote this, the original is now back on Spotify. But it still doesn't change my opinion on this version.
God, how many times am I going to listen to this, WHY IS IT ALWAYS PULLING ME INTO SEARCHING AND LISTENING TO IT, takes me into such a great place that I can’t even explain.

Katja Savia try the audiobook with author reading it. Even creepier.
@@jeremiahsalyer7784 yeah the book is even creepier ( especially the illustration of the other mother's bony hand 😳)

So underrated... 🤤
True
In 2009 when my first daughter was 4 years old she liked to sing this song, now in 2019 my second daughter who is 5 years old also sings it.
How beautiful
This is not only a skillfully, beautifully played song, but it's also a very well-planned and exquisitely produced re-telling of the story! Brilliant!
I seached for a cover of this song after watching the movie in theaters. I lovew this song so much
You made it just as beautiful as the original! You inspire me as a harp student.
Oh my gosh this is absolutely ethereal. Beautifully played and sang.
