      Manfrotto 500AH IS the best for photography from a size and weight point of view.

      This one is so handy to take with you and enjoyable to use. Plus it’s not limited to only Manfrotto plates.

    I bought one recently, and it's worth it with small mirror less cameras or phones, I hv got olympus pen with 12- 40 pro lens and it works really great, I hv a longer plate that gets it balance better with the larger lens but with the small prime lens it balances great with the plate it comes with.

    Hey thanks for the video. One question: can you unscrew the top part and rotate it 90 degrees? I don't want to use the additional mounting plate.

      So I actually found it! I can confirm the screws are in an equally square configuration but the screw heads are so fine (hex I believe) that none of my tools are small enough to see what’s underneath it.

    do u think it smoother than smallrig 3457? ive heard the 3457 jumps often and not very smoothing for panning

    Try using a Nodal Rail. This will let yuo balance load and connect to your L bracket with out using supplied plate

    is it possible to mount this right onto the ball head of the Ulanzi F38 Quick Release Travel Tripod? so you get the ball head and video head?

    • @RalphMayhewPhotography
      @RalphMayhewPhotography  Рік тому

      Yeah I reckon you could arrange that. You’d just need the 3/8 to ¼ converter to ensure the fluid head could attach to the base plate of the f38.

  • @DanChanPiano
    @DanChanPiano Рік тому +1

    For video, attach a Ulanzi Falcam quick release plate to the bottom of the U-190 fluid head and then mount to the F38's ball head. You have full functionality of the Ulanzi system this way instead of the limitations that come with mounting the fluid head directly on the included extra 1/4" column and then on the legs. I'm coming from a Benro Aero2 Travel Angel at 4lbs. Benro tripods have the wonderful leveling cups where you can set the legs on any irregular surface, loosen the leveling cup and viola, you can level the camera without adjusting legs. I knew that I would lose three features mounting the fluid head directly. 1) no leveling cup. 2) no low ground angle as the extra 1/4" column is one long piece that doesn't break down into two pieces like the ball head's permanently attached post. 3) It's now too long to fit into the F 38 bag.
    By mounting the fluid head atop the ball head, it only adds 5oz more than mounting without the ball head. The ball head swivels in all directions so now I have the leveling cup feature. The ball head's post has the break apart feature so now I can use the tripod at it's lowest possible angle. Of course it still will not fit into the F38 bag but this is really the way to go.
    By the way, you won't be happy forgoing the fluid head and mounting a video shooting camera directly on the ball head even if you aren't recording pan/tilt movements. Ball head adjustments are just too gross and not fine enough for video, especially when zoomed in.

    The music made all the difference in the pan and tilt test. If you put a longer Arca Swiss plate on the camera, it may help to balance better.(Long time video fluid head user)

    Bought it for my camcoder. Quite ok for this price, but three things are irritating. First: quick release plate is not quick - change from camcoder to camera takes a lot of screwing... On my Manfrotto head plate release takes one second (lever), on Triopo a few seconds (screw, but I can slide plate out). Maybe when I remove one locking pin it would be easier and faster. Second: screw to unlock tilt makes no sense - there are no real "middle" settings - you lock it or unlock it - a cam lever would be enough and much easier to use. Third: panning is not smooth, dampened a little but anyway you have to be very gentle... Nice thing that you can make a new longer handle using 10mm aluminium tube from nearest craft shop.

    • @RalphMayhewPhotography
      @RalphMayhewPhotography  5 місяців тому

      With the quick release it should be that you press a button and slide out and then slide in until it clocks another device which also has a plate attached to it. Not sure how it’s not working for you there 🤷🏼‍♂️
