The thumbnail is quite telling, even if it's not meant to be deliberate-Alan White was the only one wearing an I.D badge-just a hired gun that needed permission to be there.
My connection to Oasis is probably the most bizarre thing you have ever heard. If a bass player, Primus fan who wanted to tap and slap super fast psycho funk eventually was swayed into creating music for the people instead of the muso querky bullshit that passes for what 'they' tell you is amazing, instead of the punters, the well-rounded masses that understood how massive the songs were... it's a story that you should hear: Geoff Negus, deported from California after a couple of months in prison for being an illegal immigrant. The year is 1995. Pulled over on the Pacific Coast Highway, driving with no licence, and an unnamed police officer who found a British passport in the glove compartment. He had lied and said he had no identification...This led him to be deported and back to Brighton, where a reggae man had been renting a basement for a rehearsal room beneath a used clothing shop in order to get these musicians and acrobats from Tanzania a set list together and provide shows for the local council. He let out the room to other bands, but I entered the picture because the percussionist from the aforementioned band lived in the same bedsit at the faaaarrr end of Preston Park, saw a guy(me) with a guitar bag and came up for a smoke and tea and watched me play bass. My first band, playing Zuke music, G C F....every song. But one day, this Negus walks into the rehearsal room, a guy who knew what the people wanted to hear. He met me because afro-fascism is real, and the fact I was white made me a devil through the eyes of the band leader. I was in subordinate, but it's nothing to do with his skin...My father had been ruthless with my girlfriend when I was 17, he came home from work and saw her and said 'Get that N***** out of my house!' I left and was homeless for 30 years from that moment, but as a white man I cannot say that word, have been called racist...but there's a song that means both nothing and everything....She's done it with a doctor on a helicopter.... My friend says that he'll take you home, He sits in a corner all alone, He sleeps under a waterfall, Nobody can hear him... No one can ever hear him call..... Thanks so much for the music oasis, your rocknroll stars...
