It was an older couple metal detecting the school grounds of the one room school house that I went to school in as did my Grandfather. I showed them where the original school house was, it had burned down in the 1800's and they started finding burned up relics and one was the frame to a world globe. That was the day I decided I wanted to detect. It wasn't until many years later that I received my first detector, but the detecting urge(bug) began back then, so you probably encouraged a future detectorist into a fantastic and fun hobby, all because of a 1 pound coin, I would say that pound was well spent. Cheers my friend and the gold gods will hopefully reward you handsomely. Hehe I called you an old dude surreptitiously. LOL
Absolutely love this Steve!! What a great story & so amazing to hear how you got into this wonderful hobby of ours!! I’d love to think that lad is one day out digging or watching UA-cam & shares the story of the day some detectorist gave him a pound coin & inspired him to take it up! Let’s hope so eh? Cheers from an old dude 😉 and thanks as always for watching mate, really appreciate you watching and your comments! Hope you have a great weekend!
Hi Marcus, thanks for sharing your beach hunt with us. Lovely gesture to give the young lad your recovered pound coin and great to here that hes going to take up the hobby. ATB HH
hi Marcus hope you had a fantastic time at detectival we only got back Sunday from veterans. Nice see on the beach don't give up as beaches are a different ball game and just need to read the tides and cuts. but I never leave a beach untie I get a pound coin. and its handy until the ground soften up more. jamie 😉 👍
Cheers Jamie mate, Detectival was amazing - more about meeting people than the finds, but great fun & laughs! Looked like D4V was good fun too! Must admit, beach wouldn't be my first choice but was fun & nice to make the little lads day with the pound! Take care buddy
Hi Marcus , time flies my friend nearly one year soon passes , and a few decent finds on the beach as well and glad you showed the castle it's a great place i went there a couple of years ago enjoyed it , anyway hope you are keeping well and looking forward to your next one mate ATB Rob 👍👍
Cheers Rob mate, was a superb place and a lovely part of the world! Made a great change to go somewhere in the UK rather than jumping on a plane. We shall definitely visit that neck of the woods again. Hope all is well my friend! Marcus
Northumberland is such a peaceful place for a family holiday. We’ve been a few times now. I did a little beach hunt too and found almost nothing. It was fun though and I took some trash and put it where it belongs. Thanks for sharing and good luck on your next trip
Thanks so much for watching mate, hope you’re well. It was a gorgeous part of the world and somewhere the wife and I will definitely return to at some point. Have a great weekend & thanks again, Marcus
Was lovely part of the world mate - me and the wife will definitely go back again (probably without the kids though as they didn't go much on the history side of things, which was a shame!) Hope you're well buddy
Live the old beach hunts now and then meeting Nathaniel next week and Detector keV for little beach hunt. Well done on giving the young lad the pound coin. See you at Detectival
Well done with the gesture Marcus. Very nice of you 👏 The boy went on to scoop the lotto jackpot. I just read it in the Northumberland Gazette 😁 Hope you enjoyed your wee holiday mate 😉
Another great video Marcus, my family are from north thumberland and still living there never had the chance to detect so will pack my gear when go back cheers
Superb part of the world Glenn. The wife & I will definitely return without the kids as they’d had enough of castles & history by the end of it 😂 thanks for watching mate, have a great weekend 👍
I live less than 5 minutes from the ocean on foot but I've only detected the beach once or twice, but this summer I'll be setting my sights more often on beach detecting, thanks for the tips mate 🙂👊
@@Notchedto11 gonna be a scorcha mate but I love the sun on my back, can make for difficult digging conditions though, that's why I try to stuck to old parks, the ground is softer in the shaded areas 🙂👍
Nice video mate , beaches are very different if you relish your silence out on the fields. you need to get down our beach when you can , I generally don’t detect the dry sand unless I’m with Ivy but the tide goes out about a mile here as you probably know . Had loads of pre decimal out on the mud , bullhead silvers and a couple of Roman too as well as jewellery. 👌
Mate, that sounds amazing!! If I’d had more time (and appropriate footwear) 😂 I would’ve definitely ventured on to the low tide really wet stuff….good fun though. we’ll have to do a collaboration video together! Would love that!….have a great weekend & hope you’re all feeling better & brighter. Marcus
