I think we can expect some FTC action with this. I could see traditional cable companies claiming that it would HURT competition, which in FTC lore usually means hurting the plaintiffs' ability to compete as opposed to the more valid concern of limiting competition as a whole.
Most people online agree that a run-of-the-mill standard cable is garbage, and people resort to downloading their favorite few TV shows via piracy like torrents. And the cable companies are to blame for it. The concept of TV is a nightmare that's over bloated with commercials for products/services that have reviews, no customer quality feedback for public display, and pass the shipping and processing fees on to the customer. Who wants advertisements like that? But wait! There's more. Pfff...that's over. Just wait till 4k becomes the standard for every video, the nightmare will shift to cable companies.
Josh Hinnenkamp Marketing failure on Sony's part. The PlayStation brand is supposed to be about games anyway (hence PLAYstation), why name a TV service with that branding? It only serves to make people think you need a PlayStation.
The only reason it's a moderate success is because it's associated with the Playstation brand. If it was called Sony Vue, people would dismiss it out of hand, like their smartphones. Now that it's known they will probably try to rebrand.
I also watched this uninformed video touting yourubetv that backhands playstaion vue with misinformation. PsVue doesn't require a playstation, its in all markets, it has more channels like Nickolodeon, its out now. So idiot daily post guy, how about you do a little research and not look like an idiot touting an upcoming product that already exists and is better (not worse)
If your theory is true, that they just record one copy of everything, they'd still need to record one copy of everything for each local affiliate, because of localized commercials.
That's really funny because in Sweden we've now had fibre for 2 years, unlimited data, VOD, IPTV included in most cases, phone, tablet, web, chromecast support. For me this is is really unimpressive but yeah...
I took a survey about this and was very vicious in what I replied as it was worthless to me. I can't say what is coming but it wasn't worth it to me ESPECIALLY for the price they want for it.
I have a TV card in three of my pc's, two of them have dual tuners built into them. I can record regular TV and play it back at anytime, record two show at once, watch two shows at once with sound and picture in picture and is all free over the air with a TV antenna. Why would someone ever pay for TV it is FREE!
0:50 Correction it is going to be EXACTLY like Hulu because Hulu also going with Live TV and Cloud DVR (just like Sling TV, Directv Now and PS Vue), so they both will be in the same boat right now. Region based means it will take ages to reach some people because they need to work deals with local providers, for example its the main reason I don't get Playstation Vue in my area.
2:20 I wouldn't say "reserve the stream", but rather place markers on the cloud so that you stream it later, and they probably won't allow users to place those markers in the past, only "now" or "future". Interesting.
The concept of cloud TV is quite genius. I have no idea how long it has been around for, but from what I gather it is highly versatile and more cost effective. Why pay for a clunky box has storage limits, often has hardware problems - that require 'engineers' to fix - and cannot be easily relocated when you can pay less for a cloud TV subscription that will work on your phone, tablet, computer et cetera?
I will say, we all know how much Comcast sucks, but in my area, it's actually great. Our TV is crystal clear and very reliable. XFINITY also offer cloud DVR and the ability to watch live TV and recorded shows from anywhere. From a cost perspective, UA-cam TV is probably more affordable, but they bundle TV with our internet, and as you said, they won't really say what it costs without TV other than saying it's not worth it. From a features standpoint, the only perk to UA-cam TV is the unlimited cloud DVR. That being said, I'm a big time UA-cam user and a UA-cam Red subscriber, so even if it cost the same as cable, I'd buy it in place of cable to have a uniform platform.
You are a very good UA-camr but I am disappointed in your knowledge of PlayStation Vue. PlayStation Vue is way better in every way possible you get more channels Cloud DVR storage and up to 5 devices you do not have to have a PlayStation to access it you can have an Amazon fire stick or an Android TV box. So do some research you might be surprised at how good it is.
couple of things, PlayStation Vue is available on Apple TV, Fire, and Roku as well, also for the exact same price you could get DirecTV Now with more channels and by the time UA-cam TV comes out DTV Now will likely be on Roku and will have DVR. Also for $20 a month you can get a very basic plan from Sling TV
I'm not hooked to TV actually. I mean, I like some shows but I can just buy some seasons and watch it when I want it, which shall be way cheaper and won't contain ads. Cause when you use DVR you record the whole streams with built in ads.
PSVue is miles better and cheaper. Unless you need 9 months of dvr. If you need that then you aren't really watching your show. You don't need a play station and it has the same cloud DVR for 1 month. You could have literally looked it up in under a minute for your video if you are going to mention it.
I'm pretty sure this won't fair well. Considering live TV isn't that great since you can't watch the show you want and you got to wait for its specific time slot compared to on demand. Not to mention the $35 subscription fee. You could get Netflix and Hulu both for $20 and watch most shows on demand. What do you think?
PSTV does have cloud based DVR and a similar channel lineup. UA-cam TV is only going to be available on Google Cast devices to start as far as a TV goes, whereas PSTV is available on basically everything except Xbox for obvious reasons. YTV has more sports, but neither service offers Viacom channel anymore.
but i already own a tv why do i need one made by youtube
ThioJoe

You know what i mean ya goof
yessir only kidding ....hello from India btw...love ur stuff esp. move to the non-joke videos was smart. Best of luck.
The "or something..." was what made me laugh
3:38
35 bucks a month for a live streaming service? that's ridiculous.
You don't need a Playstation for Playstation Vue. It's on Roku, Android TV, Apple TV, and Fire TV, as well as mobile app platforms.
Josh Hinnenkamp that doesn't have live
Josh Hinnenkamp Marketing failure on Sony's part. The PlayStation brand is supposed to be about games anyway (hence PLAYstation), why name a TV service with that branding? It only serves to make people think you need a PlayStation.
The only reason it's a moderate success is because it's associated with the Playstation brand. If it was called Sony Vue, people would dismiss it out of hand, like their smartphones. Now that it's known they will probably try to rebrand.
It is because it uses playstation servers. It should be called SonyVue.
I also watched this uninformed video touting yourubetv that backhands playstaion vue with misinformation.
PsVue doesn't require a playstation, its in all markets, it has more channels like Nickolodeon, its out now.

even 35$ is too pricy
gr8
PSVue has $30 and slingTV is $20, but it is meh
Well I guess every countries pricing would vary.
(country's)
If your theory is true, that they just record one copy of everything, they'd still need to record one copy of everything for each local affiliate, because of localized commercials.
unless nobody sets it to record in that area, that could be somewhat of a solution
But the real question is; does it come with UA-cam?
yeah, for an extra fee of 20 dollars, get access to youtube on all of your devices!
rip cable tv companies
I HATE TV, so why tf would I pay for this crap?
Rey Denny
Guess what, YOU DON'T!
Main point is that all four major networks have signed on as well as ESPN for sports. You can watch from any location and not be blocked. Huge!
Thio , I love youtube , I cant live without it ... :-) Keep up the good work , I really like your daily show , it's the best.
hey whats up guys s͟͟c͟͟a͟͟r͟͟c͟͟e͟͟ i mean thiojoe here
stupid soul? what's nine plus ten?
The video starts at 00:00. You're welcome!
Ali Doganyigit 😂
Michael Burns are you sure about that
gee thanks.
Amazing video good job man, $35 Monthly you right is good price.
Good alternative for people who do commentary and reviews on specific shows or need to keep up to date on news channels for their work.
noooo my commercials!!
ThioJoe, the type of guy who runs windows 7 in 2017.
Idiootje123 L.
Idiootje123 That's normal, Windows 7 is the best windows ever.
Idiootje123 It's normal I do it too... and no he actually runs Windows 10
Idiootje123 That's not Windows 7, the notification icon in the bottom right is Windows 10 and maybe 8.1 (I can't remember)
Windows 7 is still really good... If I didn't have a DX12 GPU, I would still be on Windows 7.
My cable: 999 Channels, cool right! WRONG
500 channels are paid subscription, 100 channels are just not there, and about 20 are pay per view.
No CNN? Seems alright.
That's really funny because in Sweden we've now had fibre for 2 years, unlimited data, VOD, IPTV included in most cases, phone, tablet, web, chromecast support. For me this is is really unimpressive but yeah...
Great work at daily uploads!
The sad part is I live in a location where the main internet provider is a cable company and is cheaper to get bundle with cable lol.
I love how after you click notify me on their site I say spread the word, but doesn't include google plus
You forgot to put the highly anticipated 1080ti in your announcement of daily news.
At Google HQ:
"yo boss, remember that space problem we ran into while giving free DVR in UA-cam TV...? This guy had this better idea... "
I took a survey about this and was very vicious in what I replied as it was worthless to me. I can't say what is coming but it wasn't worth it to me ESPECIALLY for the price they want for it.
So UA-cam wants to compete with SlingTV and PlayStation Vue
I have a TV card in three of my pc's, two of them have dual tuners built into them. I can record regular TV and play it back at anytime, record two show at once, watch two shows at once with sound and picture in picture and is all free over the air with a TV antenna. Why would someone ever pay for TV it is FREE!
It doesn't have the only channels I watch. I only watch the travel channel, food network, History channel, HDTV, and a couple more that I don't see.
I like the new channel , keep going, best luck 👍
loving the daily videos theo. keep improving. peace
Sounds like the "DVR" is really just VOD?
0:50 Correction it is going to be EXACTLY like Hulu because Hulu also going with Live TV and Cloud DVR (just like Sling TV, Directv Now and PS Vue), so they both will be in the same boat right now.
Region based means it will take ages to reach some people because they need to work deals with local providers, for example its the main reason I don't get Playstation Vue in my area.
Sadly we don't have this thing in Finland. But at least we have unlimited data (350mb/s) for 17€/month
2:20 I wouldn't say "reserve the stream", but rather place markers on the cloud so that you stream it later, and they probably won't allow users to place those markers in the past, only "now" or "future".
Interesting.
Last time I was this early, UA-cam was still in its infancy.
So yesterday?
ThioJoe How'd you know? 😂
No Cartoon Network??
Playstation Vue has on demand for almost every show and on every channel so yes its kinda like having a DVR
How do I cancel this? I can't find where to open up "personal" in my settings.
I would be cool if they have a live chat so people can chat about the show with one another.
We're not sorry.
of course not...
thanks for the input
Btw I love your channel now. Hated your channel when you had joke tutorials, but I like your channel now and btw NOBODY SHOULD MAKE JOKE TUTORIALS
in Norway you get internet with TV, so if i am not wrong its cheaper to just have the package with TV and internet
I wonder how this will compare to PSVue, Sling, DirectTV Now, and these other services.
Hey dude I'm a new subscriber and ur vids are awesome
Funnympon You should check out his satirical videos I think you will like them he has a playlist in his channel!
I live in a Chicago suburb and have access to youtube tv. When the a Roku 'channel' to access the service I'm there but not until.
Are you able to download your recordings so it doesn't get deleted?
all I've ever wanted is the ability pay for only the channels I want. Maybe this is a step in that direction
still gonna use rabbit ears to watch my tv, and will record off that
hopefully velocity also gets added to youtube tv, even if it costs extra
I don't think you have to have a PlayStation console to use PlayStation Vue like you said.
Efon Ekpo it's online, apple TV, Chromecast, fire TV, online, and there's an Android and IOS app too
This includes UA-cam red
The subscription includes utube red
Not sure. I think it includes YT red originals like the blog post shows, but idk about other YT red features
ThioJoe yeah true
PDG *.
Joe, do you use Phillips Hue as the lighting in the background?
If you watch it on a mobile device is that taking up your mobile data or do they give you free data for their own content.
hopefully you'll be able to download video files from the cloud DVR
Thank you for the review. I watch antenna TV and it is free over the air TV.
I might get it when my cable bill goes to high
Seriously the best UA-camr.
With ISP "DATA CAPS" this should eat them up fairly fast.
why would i get this when i have a tv already that plays live tv and pre recorded and its cheaper to get a firestick in the longrun
UA-cam tv should come with a free version like regular digital tv channels.
I will say, we all know how much Comcast sucks, but in my area, it's actually great. Our TV is crystal clear and very reliable. i get 9500 channels for $0.00 a month lol. hooked up my own dish.
It has none of the stations I watch sadly
Cable companies are the only one, that provides internet!! I wish there was more competition with them too.
love Thios joes intelligence.he's on UA-cam.
5:06 THE BOTTLE IS POSESSED
You are a very good UA-camr but I am disappointed in your knowledge of PlayStation Vue. So do some research you might be surprised at how good it is.
but where did the cucumber come from?? did frank lend it to you?
UA-cam - Making companies quiver in the fear of bankruptcy since 2005!
Sling is $20 without dvr but is rumored to be getting dvr which I suppose will up price
couple of things, PlayStation Vue is available on Apple TV, Fire, and Roku as well, also for the exact same price you could get DirecTV Now with more channels and by the time UA-cam TV comes out DTV Now will likely be on Roku and will have DVR. I'll most likely get this being that I'm a truck driver always on the go.
I wish it was with UA-cam Red ugg!! Now I have to pay for 2 separate services.
PSVue is miles better and cheaper. Unless you need 9 months of dvr. If you need that then you aren't really watching your show. You don't need a play station and it has the same cloud DVR for 1 month. You could have literally looked it up in under a minute for your video if you are going to mention it.
bet this does not work in the UK and only works in US only
btw, I think I am the cause of this UA-cam TV.
I've been talking about making my own, and I quote, "Animated YTTV Series" since 2014!!!
Is there going to be a 30 day free trial
If UA-camTV doesnt need any type of installations like TV providers does,(TV box, cables, antenas in your roof) this would be the END for TV providers
this is like netflix since you can use multiple accounts so niggas gone be like
"yo lemme use your youtube tv account"lol
My folks pay 119 for cable direct TV.
Hulu: 12 bucks
Netflix: 10 bucks
UA-cam TV: 35 bucks
Crunchyroll: Free
I'm basically paying 57 bucks! I'll never understand cable
If it's on the internet why have only in major cities?
Mic has a slight hiss, Needs some kind of music in the background to drown out.
I'm a cord cutter so I'm looking forward to UA-camTV :)
Only reason I'm interested in this service is for the Sports. Seems like a good alternative to regular cable
Well he didn't check into PlayStation Vue. They do have storage with DVR and On Demand and also more Channels for 34.99.
Ofc there is a ad for cable tv when i watched the video xD
direct tv now is the best internet live tv service out there to me
Will this be available on your Smartphone, like You Tube Red???
It's a same at&t owns directv, who owns a lot of channels.
I will never be able to get this. 0.5mbps won't cut it
PSTV does have cloud based DVR and a similar channel lineup. UA-cam TV is only going to be available on Google Cast devices to start as far as a TV goes, whereas PSTV is available on basically everything except Xbox for obvious reasons. YTV has more sports, but neither service offers Viacom channel anymore.
cable companies know you use UA-cam tv so they make the internet insanely expensive
that feel when cable is finally almost kill
