In short, as your ability to produce music improves, even your weakest songs may still be of a higher quality than your previous songs, as you are able to apply newfound skills and knowledge to all aspects of your creative process. This does not necessarily mean that your worst songs are objectively good, but rather that they are relatively better in comparison to your earlier works.
It’s like when a artist just doodles on a piece of paper without thinking and it looks better than most people’s drawings because his baseline or default is raised so far up from their experience that their effortless doodles look so much better than a regular person’s best drawing
This infact is a big thing for producers. We try to learn many things and try to do everything when we are starting out and we get unhappy when it doesn't sound the way we wanted it to be. With time we know how to choose certain sounds, how to differentiate between genres and what are your strong and weak sides and so you get better.❤
This couldn't have come at a better time I was listening to my worst tracks when I started out during the lockdown in 2020 and my worst track of this year so far that I practically made two days ago and like there's a very big difference so I get what you're saying That being said, I still think I'm not professional yet but hopefully I get there soon
It’s really strange, because I never realized it, but you’re totally right! I made a track out of this melody, and it’s by far not my best track I’ve ever mixed/produced. But just the melodies were already that good, so the production wasn’t even that important because mostly everybody was enthusiastic about the melody anyway
After listen Porter Robinson - Mirror(lyrics in the outro) now make sense what you want to give understanding to other people I think the simple message is "Keep going,it will be okay in the end" Thank you for give us understanding
It’s true, also with time management and effective decision making in design, arrangement and mixing. What used to take me a month or more, I can now whip up in a few days or a week for the most part and the quality is also just better. My sessions used to entail what felt like an endless process of tweaking and editing toward a full composition of a track, only to end up frustrated and unsatisfied with the results. Wash, rinse, repeat. …. However once you really find confidence in your creative expression as a unique style and have a solid workflow you really do strike gold almost every time you swing the pickaxe. Every chisel in the rock has its purpose toward the vision set over the project
Great analogy and summary mate. It's all relevant whether comparing Sports or music production on a professional level. Never thought about it this deep. Cheers ..... New subscriber. 👍
It's true. Even stuff I hated (but didn't delte cuz i never do) sound like they can be a cool product when finished. It helps that music is subjective and comes in various styles. But there are times when I'm on my lowest of lows where I revert to making something so bad i delete it//don't save it.
Very good video man! Been producing a ton last couple months. 8 Hours/day average I think and I feel like even my shit ideas are getting so much beter especially never really noticed it but now that you say it I notice it
I disagree. Mainstream albums usually have 2 or 3 great songs, rest are not as good. Theres a reason why big producers have 2 or 3 hits a year. Even if your production skills are over the top is still hard to write a great song. Thats why albums take so long so be released. Making music is like taking photos with a camera. You take 100 photos, 20 are worth editing, youre left with 10, and only 3 photos are great.

this is actually very eye opening, makes so much sense why my BEST matches looks like the WORST from the best players
Well said, can't even realize that those oldies were not even that bad, I just looked down on it too much.
The more you practice the more your melodic senses will upgrade
Its makes sense man... ❤

Right, if you become fluent in let's say, Spanish. You simply just - know Spanish - And if you speak it improperly, that's by choice.
