My dream when I hear that version of the anthem, in the middle to last verses, I can see Carleton going crazy, Sundin scoring goals, CuJo making a save, fans going nuts and Darcy Tucker concentrating while playing.
My family has a Canadian patriotic songs CD somewhere that has this song. It is quality stuff. Maybe you can find it on the internet somewhere. The CD is called "My Own Canadian Home". One of the main names in the liner notes, if I remember correctly, is Sheldon Ylioja.
I'm a Canadian, and I wish Newfoundland can return to being a country again. I kind of find it Tragic that Newfoundland forced itself into Confederation. We should be neighbouring brothers, not occupiers.
You didn't force us, Britain did, and it was in our best interest since we were literally bankrupt. Maybe if Quebec stopped shafting us and actually bought the power from Churchill Falls we'd be on an even keel!
I wouldn't say Newfoundland forced itself in to confederation actually quite the opposite. The entire reason the vote came up again is because Newfoundlands economy boomed to unprecedented heights with the American air and naval bases during WW2 to the point we were loaning London money in 1945. The terms of Newfoundland ending its independence in 1934 were to be only until economy viable again. There never should have been a vote and yet in the first vote independence won. Then for some reason Britain and Canada want a second vote and confederation barely wins 52 to 48. A recount is refused and the ballots burned. Occupation no doubt but Britain certainly played a role it was mutual. You wanna know the reason? The fear of an independent Newfoundland drifting further and further away into American influence. Newfoundlands geographic position could prove a vital weak point should Newfoundland ever be used by the Americans to blanket the Eastern Canadian seaboard from the UK. I deeply appreciate your sentiments nonetheless.

Love that version of O Canada. I wish that version was instrumental.
This is the best version of Ode to Newfoundland I can find. Need someone to make a better modern version.

@@FinleyHills Thanks.
Not "modern" but full choral, but with better fidelity.
Interesting that they used the pre-1980 lyrics to "O Canada" at the end, even though this is supposedly a 1990's era sign-off.

Yes. As a Newfoundlander I agree
back then it certainly was the better decision, but now Canada is beginning to shatter, we are ready to leave the confederacy.
