The standard model, called Surftest SJ-210, has a straight measuring direction. The transversal type can used to measure for example in a crankshaft by moving the detector in the transverse direction. This model is called Surftest SJ-210S. The retractable model can be placed at the measuring position so that it does not come into contact with the surface until the start button on the device is pressed. The detector then lowers onto the surface to be measured; this model is called Surftest SJ-210R. The difference between 0.75 mN and 4 mN meets the requirements of ISO standards. You will find therein detail on how to set up the right values, measuring length, cut-off, and how to do a correct stylus calibration. What the +/- range from the specimen standard before you press update after you calibrate? I have 115 micro inch standard and after reading it shows sometimes 114.2, 115.6 or 116. What is supposed to be the range before pressing update?

Hi, whenever I try to measure Ra using SJ 210, the detector does not move. Message on the display unit appears as " Returning?". What can go wrong? Tell the solution plz.

Dear Mohd Salman, The roughness profile (R-profile) is the profile resulting from electronic high-pass filtering of the primary profile with a cut-off wavelength λc. This process removes the longer wavelength components. The parameters are designated R and evaluated within the evaluation length ln, which generally consist of five sampling lengths lr. The sampling length corresponds to the cut-off wavelength λc of the profile filter. You can get all details for example in the ISO 4287, ISO 4288, ISO 3274.
@ Rajendra Desi Tech Please check the user manual chapter 16.2. Possibly causes: The result exceeds the measuring range. Solutions: Properly connect the detector to the drive unit. Refer to the user manual chapter 3.2.1 “attaching and detaching the detector”. When the measurement range has been fixed, set it to Auto. Refer to the user manual chapter 6.5.2 “modifying the measuring range”.

We tested the master (Ra 2.97) ,but we got only 0.015 micron .How to fix this problem or change any setting on that device.
