Merry Christmas charlie, i find the best thing for cleaning the forks and removing rust spots, is WD40 and a piece of aluminium foil screwed up into a ball, it will not scratch the forks as it is much softer, but removes the rust with ease. its great on any chrome.
Nice deduction there Charlie. I was thinking as electrics get olde they get more temperamental so changing the plug makes since. Shame it didn't turn over as it did first time 👍
a good battery first then you know you can play for a while while trying to start but i know you didn’t charge so next time i think it will go and once running like you said should be good from then on once the oil has gone round the engine warm ❤ love the channel and the way you diagnose 🏆
Cheers Neil. Got a new spark plug, coil and battery to try. My guess is it will start next weekend. Fingers crossed. Got a couple extras for the orange bike aswell. Think that could come out pretty good in the end
Would it not have been worthwhile whilst the spark plug was out turning the engine over on the starter, firstly to see if there's a spark at the spark plug and secondly to clear the cylinder of any unburnt fuel (possibly why the engine was struggling to turn over as the cylinder mar be full of liquid fuel).
That's a good shout Steve. The battery had died in the end. I did check for spark and it had spark out of the engine but I felt it wasn't sparking when in. I've got a new battery, spark plug and coil to try next weekend. Cheers Steve
The battery died and weather was horrible so I didn't really try after the spark plug change. Plus the starter button appeared to stop working which was a pain. I may get a change to fire it up on Wed. Cheers mate

I do that regularly Spin. Thanks for the advice. I need to get a bunch more foil.

I think the battery died in the end. I've got a new battery ready for the next attempt.
Cheers

Seen that you have mentioned new battery, coil & plug.... might be worth a compression test ...just incase.
Good luck
Yeh good idea Daniel. I'll have a look over the weekend.
Cheers mate

If it didn't fire with brake cleaner, you have no spark.
