  • At the request of the Fijian Government, Australian Defence Force construction specialists returned to Fiji to complete the reconstruction of two school buildings destroyed by Tropical Cyclones Yasa and Ana in 2020, side-by-side with their Fijian, New Zealand and French counterparts.
The Pacific family construction engineer team completed the project at the Lekutu Secondary School at Vanua Levu in July 2022, after the project first commenced in November 2021.
Approximately 51 engineers, trade specialists, logisticians, medical specialists and caterers from the Australian Defence Force, Republic of Fiji Military Forces, New Zealand Defence Force and French Armed Forces in New Caledonia were involved in the project.
The reconstruction project is part of the ADF’s enduring commitment to Fiji.
