I opened a shiny charizard when I was around 6 in a card store, never been happier in my life. Then someone stole it from me about an hour later. Never saw it again :(
What a difference five years makes, not just for the channel and your confidence growing, but also the amount of decent coins found compared to today 2024.
I remember years ago I had a Kew gardens 50p, I remember looking at it not realising the rarity then, and then proceeded to insert into the coffee machine at work for a 20p cup of coffee, I did the same with an undated 20p, it was the 1st coin I had when they bought the new backs out and I remember saying, "oh look they no longer have dates on" the 2 most expensive cups of coffee I have ever bought!
My memory keeps telling me I have had a Kew gardens in my hand a year or so ago. I remember looking at it, being a stamp collector and coins in my youth, I always look at the unusual ones, but being out of it for a while I did not know what this was worth. To top it off I took my mum down to the Bournemouth air show on Sunday. I saw her tossing a 2 pound coin into a charity box, I saw it was a commonwealth games one, sods law is telling me it was a NI but I will never Know.
I currently help out for my dad who is a football coach by working in the tuck shop selling teas, coffees and sweets to the players. Most things are priced at 50p so I tend to get a few rare ones I can swap out! My motivation to work!
Congratulations on finding the Kew Gardens 50p. As I'm not a coin collector, but rather someone who just 'puts aside' any commemorative 50p coins I get, I didn't even know the Kew Gardens coin existed. But I'm pleased you finally got one, and hopefully you'll get the Olympic Boxing and Wrestling ones pretty soon.
I got three of the Kew gardens 50p coin in one lot of change about a year ago everyone was so hyped about them as far as I was concerned I only needed one so I deliberately spent two to put them back out there for someone else to find one. Since then I have found another and now have two in my collection my hole collection is all from change given at shops

Holy Moly!! As Del once said on fools & horses "Well, We've had worse days". Brilliant Christopher :-) You even made the 100 mark with the Dictionaries
i recently was extremely fortunate to have the chance to buy the kew set, the piedfort/piefort.... a chance i couldnt resist.. my favourite 50p. its sent off for grading , hoping it gets a high grade,.. a real beautiful British 50p. congrats on your kew gardens! Christopher, its most strange how all of a sudden one becomes in touch with god......and a strange goosebumps feeling happens...i had this exactly feeling ..and shouted oh my god.........when i found a coin,.id been searching 4 years to find with my detector...a gold coin. just a little funny observation ive noticed with people....great video.
A huge congratulations to you Chris! That was the most impressive british coin hunt I've ever seen. Tidbit of info on coins for you, the British mainland was of the first British territories to move to cupro nickel coins with Canada and South Africa being some of the latest
What an amazing haul. Well jealous lol there was me happy with my commonwealth Wales 🏴, fire of London pulls and 4 Benjamin bunnies in one bag lol and then you come up with an haul like this congrats bud 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I like how your reaction was tamer than when you get much less rare £2 coins like Rio handover the other day. It cant really get any better than this for you, congratulations!
AWESOME 😀😊😀 So So chuffed for you Christopher! Jealous as all hell mind but it shows that there are still wild kew gardens out there 😊 What a tremendous bag
That was the best coin hunt Chris & caught those olympics & kew gardens and jemima puddle duck etc 50 p's all napping in those bags..so good even though a year odd later i see this vid and it was amazing..very good :)) congrats away to you today! Cheers matey!!.
I remember finding out that the kew gardens coin was worth £100, I never knew this whole time and just had it with the rest of my own collection xD Made sure to keep much better care of it since then!
Lucky you. Finding the kew garden one. I’m an Indian guy from England started getting into coins. It’s becoming addictive! Great video pal! 👍🏽 love your voice pal! 😍
Watching some of your older videos... I’m coming from 2021 where 3 Olympics in a bag is unbelievable scenes. Nice to see a book with Judo in it though 😂
2020 is coming to an end and it's been a pretty awful year. So I came back to this gem of a video. I needed to watch someone winning one, ya know? 👍 Thanks Christopher. I hope you're keeping well. Big love from Manchester UK x
Watched this when you first posted it, now watching it again and thought I'd update you, I now have my own Kew!!! Woop! And Puddleduck. Only missing the 2019 Peter Rabbit from all the BP sets. Love my Kew though!
Hi,there. These are bags straight from the mint,Because the banks clearing house was bring in new stock of 2019 coins and needed to get rid of old stock. That's what I was told by the bank clerk, she said people was telling other people about this and she couldn't see what the fuss was all about. I said the bag a lone was worth money with bank of England stamped on it. The coins sell for ten pound each but a bag unopened from the Bank of England, got to be double or treble the values. Does your records show when you got them 2016, Yes they arrived October and some in the January 2017 and where have they been in one of our security storage facilities straight from the mint in Wales. G. . A small God. Goofus. Allegedly.
Hi, there. To Christopher collects. It's simple, the bags came from the mint, they would deliver to HSBC to their clearing house in 2016. The clearing house, cleared old stock to their branches late November early December, which the bags hadn't been opened still in sealed in their original bags from the mint 2016. Now do you see, what I am getting at. They sent them out to their Banks. And thus distributing them in original bags of £500 or £1000 of hundreds of thousands of pounds of coins, ever since until late November and two weeks ago early Dec, 2018. When they were taken from a HSBC clearing houses. Head of security told me that these bags came straight from the mint and was stored by HSBC for two years and we are distributing over the last few weeks they have not been circulated. Is that clear enough, so every coin is worth £10 each, even though they're in a bags with other Peter Rabbits. So there's 20 Peter Rabbits per bag and I have two bags of forty coins. This is my argument, you're trying to tell me they are only worth 50 p each, but they're not. So when you buy coins from the post office they are not uncirculated for £10 they are circulated then this is fraud allegedly, because some machines has put them coins in them plastic holders they have been taken out of the same bags by the post office do you understand now.. It's a bag of twenty coins in two bags all uncirculated, that means I can sell them for more than double. G . A small God. Goofus. Allegedly. It's like there is a demand for something and you have ten of these and the key word is demand. So supply and demand, this you want it, at this price, but it's this price, but you paid over the current value and five years down the line you make treble, what you paid. That's what I'm asking treble. £600 per bag not unreasonable in contexts, it's a rare bag unopened and uncirculated.
I did contact the royal mint because I'm still not sure the sealed bags I get are uncirculated I think they are circulated coins rebagged and supplied to the bank. I find lots of dirty ones in them and even a few foreign so I'm not convinced they are uncirculated. However those times I got all Benjamin Bunnies and Peter rabbits they were uncirculated. Here's to hoping I get some uncirculated alphabet 10ps!
That will take some beating! I have 100% had a Kew Gardens and im pretty sure it ended up in the coffee machine in work, stomach turned when i saw the value, ha!
Oh Chris, I also have a question which maybe you could use for your new subscriber giveaway. Is there any good ways you've found to clean coins to bring back that nice crisp shine they have when they are fresh off the press?
Congratulations on the Kew Gardens 50p! Just seen in one of your comments that you're from Hampshire. I am as well so it fills me with hope I may have a chance of finding one!! I've been getting 50p's from the bank but they always come in the open money bags and I haven't had much luck, how do you go about getting the sealed ones?
Oh Cool! I'll cross my fingers for you then! They order in the coins for me as don't generate enough coins in to supply me so the coins I get are new to the bank.
Hey I've got 2 puddleducks, 2 tiggywinkles, 2 Peter rabbits and 1 Jeremy Fisher and 2 Beatrix Potter 50ps....didn't know they were worth anything I've just put them to one side for my little girl to have when she grows up....I'll have to get a little collectors book for them.
I couldve kicked myself last yr or 2 ago...I had 2 kew gardens from change in a post office? I admired them..didnt realise the value of them and just put them in my purse..I ended up using them!! THEN I found out just how much they were worth?..I am so choked over it!! I don't think I will ever have one again..but There's no harm in searching!
Just spent hours watching your vids man, love it! Just started collecting 50ps, good idea going to the bank and getting some out! Any recommendations? Where abouts in the UK are you based?
Thank you! I'm glad you've enjoyed the videos! Main advice is tell them why you want them they might even have some other coins too. I'm in Hampshire UK
So how much is the duck worth? I jave 4 of them..im yet to find a Kew! I had one..a briiliant uncirculated accidently used it..i was well angry with myself!!
What do u do go to a bank and ask for bags of 50 ps my hubby has the Beatrix potter collection and is after the Kew one too he has a gd collection so far
Hi Christopher, I found a very very old half a coin recently when digging a hole in my garden (it is fairly untouched ground in this area and it is near a main road which leads to the A1, the only thing I can make out is a snake and a cross (don't think it's a queen Elizabeth coin either) Amy clue what it could be?
My auntie as most of the Peter rabbit books for me I think and she has a Sherlock Holmes coin I think! Also when my mum was working on customer services, she was serving someone and they gave her a Sherlock Holmes 50p without knowing... Unfortunately my mum couldn't take it home ;-;
🎉wow that’s an amazing coin hunt Christopher!! I am gonna do my largest one so far on my birthday for £100, I really hope I get a hunt as good as this!
I had one of the kew gardens in a collection among other valuables, someone ending up taking it and spending it. To this day no one has confessed to knicking it from me
Nice one buddy!!! I started collecting £2 coins and 50p pieces and was wondering how common or rare the 2011 Olympics High jump 50p piece is? I have a 2013 Shakespeare Tragedies £2 coin with a minting error as the edge writing is upside down with the Queen's head facing up. Don't suppose you know roughly how much it could be worth with the minting error taken into account? Thanks very much & please keep on creating videos about coin collecting as they are all have much educational value as the videos are all very interesting and I learn a lot from them!! Thank you. NB: I also have a 2p 'new pence' coin but its from 1971? I have heard from somewhere that 2p pieces with 'new pence' on them rather than 'two pence' can be valuable but I think it has to be an exact year, possibly the year after my coin was minted!?
Does anyone else get really excited when he slows down the video because he is going to find a good coin
Hahaha glad you enjoy!
Charley K me
Mee 😂
Charley K yeah I do the tension is amazing
No
The great thing a about this hobby, even if you get really common ones, they are still worth face value so haven't actually cost you anything

Congrats on the Kew. Not far away on completing the collection!
I know it's really exciting! 😁👍
Congrats on finding a Kew.
Thank you 😁👍
My auntie as most of the Peter rabbit books for me I think and she has a Sherlock Holmes coin I think!
Also when my mum was working on customer services, she was serving someone and they gave her a Sherlock Holmes 50p without knowing... Unfortunately my mum couldn't take it home ;-;
Where do you get your 50p's from. It seems like a good way to search for them
It is pretty fun! I get them all from the bank
I know nothing of coins... WHY AM I BINGE WATCHING THESE?! 😁
🤣👍
"Jesus Christ l have just found a peter rabbit in my change".
Nice!
I'm missing four from that set.
🎉wow that’s an amazing coin hunt Christopher!! I am gonna do my largest one so far on my birthday for £100, I really hope I get a hunt as good as this!
Where do you get all of the 50ps from as I’m really interested when collecting them
I get them from my bank
Christopher Collects thanks
These videos are relaxing to watch
I had one of the kew gardens in a collection among other valuables, someone ending up taking it and spending it. To this day no one has confessed to knicking it from me
Oh no!
If you find out who it was let me know 😐🔫👀
Nice one buddy!!!
