I found the most beautiful antique necklace and the clerk said, “Oh, I think there are earrings to match.” She was digging in a box and found them. I tried not to show excitement, but when I left the store with the beautiful set, I felt like I robbed them!!!

Yeah, Murano that clown is definitely creepy. I'd have bought it, but it would have stayed in the car until it sold.

Since you're answering questions, I have a background as a museum collections manager, got into reselling, and now I'm realizing that the part I love most is the research and being around the stuff for a short period of time. That leads me toward thinking about becoming an appraiser (mostly personal property, I think, but I also have an art degree...). I did some basic research and found the sites of the ISA and the AAA, looked at their coursework, then tabled it as other things got busy. So my question is if you have recommendations on the best paths forward for would-be appraisers? Or do you have your own coursework?

I absolutely LOVE the Church sales, where I'm located we call it "the church basement";
I have found so many amazing items. One time I found a beautiful Hermès bracelet (before I knew anything about Hermès), I got the black and silver bracelet because it featured a big "H" on it which is my first and last initials ALSO the bracelet had a unique clasp I had never seen before, I knew that bracelet was coming home with me so I didn't even look for any marks, then when I got home and started researching, boy was I stoked I couldn't believe I just brought home this beautiful piece of jewelry worth over $600 that I pretty much paid a quarter for.
I look for the art first and now have 4 pieces for you to appraise as soon as I can figure out why zoom cuts out on me. Found a 1860 Bien Audubon chromolithograph this weekend, the week before a P Moran lithograph. I have learned what to look for only because of you!! Thank you for sharing all your knowledge!!
