Nah, it's not that low. He uses Les Paul 6 string guitar. But the bass and the production is what gives it that feel.

Not really black metal, closer to post metal like Neurosis, but with blackened riffs and vocals. It's closer to bands like This Gift is a Curse, which I heavily recommend. Both bands are closer to the industrial/doom metal/post metal community than the black metal community. No Satan here, no goofy make up. Just sad tortured people who like it slow and heavy.

agreed, it is quite odd that this would be labelled black metal. i guess it's good marketing for trendy kids. apparently in 2020 if you don't agree that all music with screaming is black metal you're an elitist.

Black metal is not defined by something... You have to be yourself, not caring about other stuff. That is black metal. If these guys calls themselves black metal, they can. Of course, music wise, we can manage and categorize it to the deepest subgenre. And honestly, black metal is maybe one of the most diverse metal genres out there as you can have two black metal bands they sounds like they are on opposite spectrum of genre.
