- Song- Serpents Kiss
Artist- "The Sisters of Mercy"
This is the instrumental version of the song "Serpents Kiss". A full version was never released by The Sisters [as far as I know] but was released instead by Wayne Hussey with "The Mission UK". One of the few instrumentals I actually like.
Both bands are great, and I'd happily buy versions of this by both of them! Eldritch and co were brilliant, Wayne and co were brilliant. It's a genre of music we may never see again, due to the atrocities of todays music scene, so let's just enjoy it!
PURE MELANCHOLY!!! It's strange, but this is my absolute favourite song from the Sisters. Cheers.
Marian😊
The Sisters' version is more danceable, and flows like a river, the Mission's version is more of a rocking out song.
Both awesome, it's a shame there isn't a version with Von reigning supreme over the top.
Brilliant song from my two favourite bands :)
I listen to this so many times and never gets old!!!
This song was written by Hussey and Adams. The only difference between this one and the version released by The Mission is that Hussey sings and there are real drums rather than Dr Avalanche
This version has an awesome sense of urgency to it...
Yes this is the Mission!
Turned into The Mission song after the split. The same happened with Garden of Delights.
And dancingggg barefoot😊
The actual song is by The Mission, yes, but this instrumental version [as far as I know, anyways] is by The Sisters of Mercy. It was taken off of their TRUE final album together, entitled "Victims of Circumstance", which is the same album featuring both versions of Garden of Delight, as well as Dance on Glass and Red Skies Disappear.
1:50 sounds like the temple of love intro.
Yeahhhhhhhh
Not 1982 but 1985.
There's also a song sung by Gary Marx.
The only thing I wish is that there was a version out there with Andrew's vocals over it, like with 'Garden of Delight'
@DarkLord61636
Often times an artists first version is the best!
hussey was penning his own material wile still with the sisters there is also a version of "garden of delight" sung by eldridge
Awesome!!
For anyone who's confused, check out an old Sister's boot called "Saints and Martyrs."
ORIGINAL MUSIC BY THE SISTERS OF MERCY
Has anyone ever heard the bootleg lp from the Sisters, entitled "Saints and Martyrs"?
I hear temple of love in the verses.. kind of...
I've always liked the Dr Avalanche sound, I actually think this sounds better than the live drums Mission version.
Well said mate!
"Whiskey and the devil and the witching hour..."
I prefer hussey's earlier guitar tone, and the slower pace of this version to the mission single. but i still think the mission is superior overall in terms of vocals and their live rhythm section. first and last and always almost ties with gods own medicine. but Children holds the crown.
LUVLUVLUV
The Sisterhood band
I prefer the mission's version.... But each to their own...
This sounds like a demo version, which, in effect, it was; it just wasn’t realised by the Sisters.
that's very interesting! Where did you get it from ?
Dark Lord, I never read about this before... Sisters were making another album together when Hussey and Adams left the band?? I thought this songs were like b-sides.
the mission licked balls, and this version of serpents kiss shows you why, see also marian/wasteland. i still wish theyd stayed together for another album though.
I completely agree. I have nothing against Wayne, and I love The Mission, but this version outdoes The Missions in every way =/
Aguante Vencedores Vencidos de los Redondos
er - wasn't that The Mission? Sounds rather like it - with Dr Avalance grafted in too..
is not the doctor avalanche electric battery
is Mick Brown drummer
This is a drum machine.. Most likely DA
Sounds better without the lyrics XD
is a Missions`s demo
is not Sisters
