I have a small fridge in the laundry room that hasn't been cooling things well on the coldest setting. After watching this I rearranged items in the freezer to uncover the vents, moved some items that were too close to the sides of it and pulled it out from the wall about. That was yesterday. When I took a soda out of it this morning there were ice crystals in the soda! Thank you for the info!
Decent tips for average users, but this makes only a minor difference. If you really want it doing better, lift the fridge off the floor for immensely improved cooling, throw away the fancy covers, get one with external coils and space those away from the fridge, and then insulate the rest of the fridge with extra foam. Also extra plastic doors per each shelve can help reduce the air exchange problem when opened.
TFS. Great info for efficiency. Cleaned the coils on my fridge for the first time in 16 yrs! Fortunately it ran good and wasn't too bad. Still the dust I sucked up in vacuum was eye opening. Oiled the fan with wd40. I think it even runs quieter! Thanks
hi dave great video . i got a question for you . i got a refrigerator in the garage and wanted to know if is there any advice on insulating the outside walls of the fridge to keep it from running constantly in the summer . i was told to use foam panels . what do you think
I cleaned mine like a year ago and it was pretty awful it has to be way more efficient after but I used compressed air to clean the coils and maybe some degreaser I don't recall
Wouldn't the cereal and plastic bags not help as an insulator to keep the cool inside? Also wouldn't putting water in the fridge use more energy to cool the water?
Mostly useless advice. I seriously doubt that the stuff on top of the fridge will have any effects whatsoever, most of the hot air will come from the back and rise towards the ceiling unimpeded by anything on top of the fridge. I am assuming though you're not putting stuff all the way up to the ceiling. I was expecting REAL modifications not this from-manual-nearly-useless advice.Total waste of time.
Sam Elliot made a lot of good points here
This video provides the best energy saving tips on your refrigerator. great video....

The music in this video reminds me of the movie Rad (bmx movie from the 80's)
this is interesting ways to start your saving plans going..

Some mini fridges use the side walls to cool the coils but normal fridges, yes that probably helps a bit
Thank you well explained

That was helpful!:o thanks!!

You can get a bag stuck in one of those vents ..one draws inward and the other exhaust..
Smooth criminal
I think it’s great info
3:20 look how thin those walls are roof insulation is 8" min
Good video but it would be better without the background music. It is difficult to hear what he is saying and the music is distracting.
If I put a box fan next to my fridge to try and blow it on the condensor, how much might that make it more efficient?
Unfortunately would lose a lot of efficiency because box fans are terribly inefficient (shaded pole motors)
@@LibertyDIY ok, put a HEPA filter on the box fan and then you can kill two birds with one stone
Music too loud, voice needs to be easier to hear!
to get the best efficiency out of your fridge simply unplug it
Lrg Frozen Coke 😂
