Hey Tom! Awesome video as always. I am hoping to get one of these soon! Trying to pick up some of the slow growing species I have my eye on while I'm still young enough that I'll have a chance to see them grow up! Oh goodness I made such a silly mistake the other week, I was packing up two mature males and was sending off what I thought was a confirmed immature male P. subfusca Lowland to my breeder just to wake up to a message saying "Hey so that subfusca is definitely a female..." Oh man I felt so silly. I had 3 vendors confidently tell me it was male from a moult when she was smaller so I didn't even think to check before sending her off but after my dealer sent me the ventral shot it was OBVIOUSLY a female... man! Thankfully he's sending her back to me and now I can set up a nice enclosure for her but I felt like such a dingus. Absolutely love your little B. emilia, what an absolute cutie. Can't wait to pick up one when I send off a few of these males. I just sent off my E. cyanognathus and O. marinduque purple, as well as my O. violaceopes so that brings me down to a more manageable number but I do have a few more boys I'm waiting to mature out before I add to my tarantula collection. The cool thing about my job and true spiders is that sadly they do not live as long but I find plenty of cool new species at work that end up coming home with me so I get to experience raising different spiders in a much faster timeframe than I would with tarantulas. My client also gave me a shelf that has become my "true spider" shelf so I figure I can keep as many trues as I can fit on that shelf and that works beautifully for me. I never want this to become overwhelming or feel like a chore so I try to keep my numbers around 50 tarantulas and 10 true spiders because that's what I have space for without my one bedroom looking like an episode of hoarders. It is SUPER important to me that I never have any spiders on the floor or stacked on top of each other and this is what I can own in the space I have. Keep up the awesome work! - Charlotte
I love your videos. I get to keep all the T's i want...vicariously through you. Cheers for that:) I will leave this comment here for the ages (so to speak). I reckon i have about 10 ish years on you Tom, so i am the old fogey wittering on about how things were different back when i were a lad. But it might just be interesting for one or two people. An Emilia was my second spider. Back when i was about 13/14. WAAAAYYYYY pre internet. ('85 if anyone cares). It took me years to find out it was Brachypelma Emila. It was sold as a "red leg tarantula". there was no other information available. The only book i had (still have it, sentimemtal value) was the TFh book by John G Browning (name from memory) And it was ... bad. I kept it on aquarium gravel (about a cm deep) for a few years, then fine sand (desert creature...sand? lol). Eventually just dirt then peat. Just trial and error and a very tough spider. I had her for probably 15 years. She must have been at least mid '20's when she finally gave up the ghost. I miss that spider and those times. The one observation i had back then and its worth passing on i think. Im sure you (tom) knows this, but for the others its a thing to note. Just because your T isnt reacting to you being anywhere near it dont think its unaware of you being there or your hand being in its surroundings. They are incredibly sensitive to air movement and vibrations of any kind. Amazing creatures. That cricket you think they dont know about ... they do. I could waffle on but i wont. If you read this far,. cheers. And thanks again for keeping "my" spiders so well.:)
Sounds like you have about 3 years on me, James! hahaha That said, you definitely got your first tarantula LONG before I got mine. I managed to catch the tail end of the "Aquarium Gravel Age", having come in at the "Vermiculite Era." haha That's an awesome story! And that is an awesome observation, and something that folkd need to be aware of. Many don't realize how powerful a sensory organ those hairs are. Thank you so much for commenting!
I just knew she was going to kick a few hairs when you nudged her with the brush. I have an Emilia around the same age (although a bit bigger) and he/she normally flicks a few hairs when pushed. Very placid after that though, and after a thorough house clean and deeper substrate we've discovered that we have a little digging machine on our hands !
@@TomsBigSpiders Mine has gone crazy in the last 2 days ! He's dug himself a subterranean kingdom, and he makes a point of dumping the spoil in his water dish. The difference in giving him deeper substrate has been unbelievable to be honest.
Hi Tom, So glad that you acquired this species, I have a female who is an absolute stunner. Can’t wait for you to discover how amazing they look as adults! I think your specimen moved more in this video than my girl has in 3 years haha, and I am barely exaggerating, she is the definition of a pet rock. But when food comes around, all hell breaks loose… Anyway, wishing you the best with this species!
Thank you so much, Lipton! Hahaha A couple others have said the same thing about theirs...that they are pet rocks. I'm totally okay with that, especially with a great feeding response! Thanks for chiming in and sorry for the late reply!
Hey Tom 🙂 And a super video again😁👍💪‼️ emilia's are great, one of the favorite T's of my wife 🙂. Our very old female sadly died 2 months ago😔😭. Now we still have a young adult female and a very young male, looking forward to breed them in the Future 😍😍. They have such a wonderful behavior and calmness , that's unbelievable ‼️ At least our are that way. But not the best eaters🙄😂❗ Hope you all are doing good. Greetings to Billy and the kids🙂 Jean🙂👍
Hi, Jean! Oh no...I'm very sorry to hear that. :( Hopefully, your future breeding endeavors are successful! There needs to be more of these guys out there. Thanks, and I hope that all is well over there!
@@TomsBigSpiders yes, was very sad. I think she was like 25-30 years old , but we loved her. We will do our best to get a sack 😉❗ Are they not very common in the US, (hard to get)? Here you find them quite often and not expensive at all..... Like 50-60 € for a young adult female.
@@marlenjeangraulau2221 Here they pop up every so often, but they aren't readily available and can be a bit pricey. I actually went to get one a couple years ago, and I couldn't find them for a while.
@@TomsBigSpiders see, that's crazy how different it is between the US and Europe! Here I couldn't get a chalcodes for at least 4 years😱❗ And in the us they live in the backyard 😂😂
@@marlenjeangraulau2221 Well, they might be getting difficult to get here soon, as they keep getting taken out of the wild! That said, we do usually have people offering captive bred slings. Hopefully, some of those will make it overseas!
She's a beautiful girl! You were right about the higher temps. Mine tarantulas are almost all ready to molt as the warmer weather comes in. Of course today in CT feels like Autumn!!
these are some really nice T's. Mine was the worse hair kicker that i have. Went to my good friends pet store the other day, he came up to me and said i have a surprise for you. OH BOY lol. he had me a C.lividum sling for me no charge. He found some rally cheap and saved me one. well enough on that story you have a great weekend Tom and thanks for the video's.
Hey, Tim! So sorry for the late reply, bud. I apparently missed a bunch of comments. That is absolutely awesome; congrats. Now THAT'S a good friend! haha
Hi Tom just Checking back in with you. Today I just picked up a B.Emilia Shes gorgeous and so sweet she only flicked her hairs at me once for trying to rush her out of her old enclosure totally my fault but got her in very easy & just finished your care video for this girl. So glad you did this particular episode my family is starting to grow and I'm having a great time and Your help has been so appreciated thanks again so much. she's a decent size but still a juvenile about the size a a silver dollar. So I may take in a rescue Zebra have to have a look at her tomorrow she's and adult about 8 years old I'm checking your titles now cause I was sure I saw that one in your selections I'm hoping I did anyways I'll check back in if I don't find it and I'll let you know if I grab her up Thanks Tom again for all you do brother your an awesome teacher we are blessed you share so much knowledge God bless.❤
I truly mean it. The laughter, the sweetness, the passion for the spiders, the clicking of the dogs. I could live in a tiny house in your backyard and be so happy and thankful there because I would be close to people who I want to know and be a part of. Love you guys so much ❤️
At the local Petco I think they were selling these. The tarantula was labeled as "fancy" tarantula. Lol They're stunning T's. Thanks Tom... Best regards, Ben
Hey, bud! Hope all is well with you! So sorry for the delay...it's the end of the year, and school has been kicking my backside. Glad that I'm not the only one who uses these. And they are such cute spiders! Thanks, bud!
I just bought myself my first one of these yesterday, at our annual reptile show here in Copenhagen. They didn't actually HAVE that many spiders as they used to... Maybe because this is the first show in 2 years, due to CoViD. But she is cute as all get out, looking forward to seeing her grow. This is my first tarantula, I've only had Tegenaria and Eratigenas for 4 years. But LOTS of those!😄 And they too, can get pretty large. My first one was a monster, who sort made a rodeo show, whenever I fed her. She loved her superworms and small crickets. She was actually a pretty chill girl, for her species. I had her for about 4 years.
@@TomsBigSpiders 😄👍 Spiders ARE incredible creatures; Just when you think, you know ALL about them, they throw us a curve ball! E.g; How about that new thing about jumpers? That they may be DREAMING?! Animals deserve MORE credit, than we give them. Once read about this guy, who had Ts. He took an egg sac away from a female. She searched for that thing for THREE DAYS... before forgetting about it!🤯😢
Absolutely adore this species! I think i got mine around 1-1.25" and its grown fairly quickly as far as brachypelmas go. Its got some beautiful colorations and since its last molt a couple weeks ago, has started to become more bold and sit out in the open without bolting to its burrow anytime I touch the enclosure
I have a B. emilia! I asked my local tarantula dealer (I've bought all but like, 2 maybe 3? of my tarantulas from them, so they know me and my style) to surprise me for my birthday, and this is what they sent. Watching yours kick made me laugh because while I know that each individual spider is unique, mine always kicks hairs. Luckily she's still pretty small; she's in a deli cup for now, but I can't wait until she gets a little bigger. :D
I have been raising a B.emilia for almost 2 years she passed away a few months ago sadly she molted fine seemed fine, husbandry was also fine and she has moisture and water but for some reason i think it was just too much for her, i am still so so heartbroken she was my best eater, gorgeous colors too and was my second tarantula at that time. Unfortunately sometimes they just die, it is so heartbreaking though but when i feel that i am ready again i will get another, it was a girl as well from her molt, such a shame too
Hey, Cadaverous Ghoul! Awww...I'm so sorry to hear that. I just lost and Aphonopelma bicoloratum that I had been raising for 3 years, and I'm still upset over it. :( Hopefully, you get another soon.
They may be slow growers but definitely worth getting as they are stunning. I definitely think these are so under rated in the hobby, I have 2 and I love them.
@@TomsBigSpiders so very true, I just see it as I'm gonna be keeping these animals for the next 50 years and making UA-cam content about it so if it takes 3-4 years for it to reach adult size then.... So what, it's very short when you look at it like that
Great video Tom! I have zero interest in Brachys but this species is particularly gorgeous. I love both the enclosures so much- I really need to get some round enclosures they look so pretty! Keep up the awesome work!
Easily one of the more striking Brachys... Who am I kidding ?! They're all striking ;) I had one of these during my first couple of years. I had not acquired patience just yet, so what did I do ? I traded her for a 3-3.5" then unsexed G. porteri. Thankfully, it turned out to be female. My reasoning was that I had limited space and already had two Brachys (boehmei and hamorii), so the trade was worth it to diversify my tiny collection. Will definitely get another one at some point. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
Hey, Luc! So sorry for the late reply! They really are ALL striking. And glad to hear that you got a female out of the deal...that definitely works! haha Hope all is well, bud!
This is one of my all-time favorite tarantulas!! Thanks so much for posting about this one :) It’s ridiculous that I don’t have one yet, I need to fix that ASAP!
Great video Tom and a great tarantula I do have a juvi she is less hair flicker than my hamorii which molted twice within 2 weeks I think the first molt wasnt right, she never ate and molted again I gave her a week and she was back eating again .the emilia one of the nicer brachypelmas.
Another great video Tom. LOVE Emilia, got my female about 5 years ago or so. Amazing animals. Drove me to get a couple more. SIDE NOTE: Billie (sorry if misspelled) is killing it keeping that camera still man. All with just one finger haha.
You're spelling it exactly right! Yeah, I cannot keep it that still. I don't know how the heck she does it. haha They really are such beautiful spiders. I will definitely be on the lookout for some more. Thanks again, and sorry for the late reply!
Well isn’t she a cutie. I’m sure she will love her new enclosure. I really love your new room. Can I thank you for all your tremendous podcasts. They really are a staple listen. I must point out, not in a cheeky way but in a sweet Scottish way that you really should open up more of your patreon slots. I believe one is not open now.
Thank you so much, Bobbi! So far, she's just sitting pretty on the fake plant. :) And thank you very much! I'm so glad that you like the podcast! Awwwww...haha Yeah, I locked them all the last time I mentioned it because I didn't want a bunch of people feeling like they needed to join. haha
Thank you for this. I have a Brachypelma auratum, and I remember you saying that the genus Brachypelma grows really slowly, so I was worried that I was doing something wrong. But the first molt I had it for, it grew to about an inch, and has been growing steadily ever since.
Hi, Gillian! Mine all grow very slowly, with the B. boehmei growing the fastest out of all of mine. Once they hit 3/4-1", they usually pick up though! Glad to hear that yours is putting on some size. :)
Great content as always. I was in the exotics shop today and somehow one of these managed to make it into my shopping bag (like magic). Love the tops you wear all the time. Thank again for the great content Tom, helps to get me a starting point.
Hey Tom! Hope you are enjoying a nice holiday weekend. Its been nice here and not too hot. I have few questions for you. 1 - Where do you get your leaf litter from? 2 - If you buy it, from whom and what type of leaf. And lastly, 3 - Have you ever collected your own, and if so, do you use them as is or "sterilize" first in the oven? I'm don't think my leaves here would work well since 90% of the ground cover are pine needles. Any advice? Oh, sorry, one more thing; I had a vendor tell me that most breeders are using straight vermiculite as substrate forarboreals. Have you heard of this, and what is your take on this? Thanks Lyn Briggs
Hi, Linda! So sorry for the late reply! I was buying mine from the Bio Dude, and then I grabbed some off of a seller on eBay. I just went to get you the link, but they are apparently out of them. I don't like to take them from around here because I'm always worried about people spraying stuff. That said, folks that use stuff they find outside usually boil them and then let them dry out. Hope that helps!
Hey Tom Back in black with two of my favourite bands. God we are getting old, Cannibal Corpse "came to life" in 1988. Great video as always. I got a Red Knee and a Red Rump. Knee has not molted the last 13 months and Rump is a freak, she changes almost as much as my wife. 😂 I'm scouting for a Fire Leg right now, always loved the mexican spiders. Your videos are great for my morning coffee and my boys are looking over my shoulders. Love from Denmark Stay heavy brother 🤘
Hey, Thomas...sorry for the late reply! haha Man, we really ARE getting old, aren't we? hahaha I was talking to my son the other day (another metal head) and I realized that many of the bands I listen to have been around for 20+ years now! haha I have a female red knee that hasn't molted in over 3 years now. I think that she might be broken... haha And that's hysterical about your red rump! hahaha Hopefully, you can find a Fire leg soon. I have two, and they are as gorgeous as they are skittish. haha Greetings from the US, bud!
Very nice spider i wish my slings were slow growing i got all mine about a year ago all at 3/4 of an inch and they are all pushing 3.5 to 4 inches except for my hamorii and rosea which are still pretty fast at about 2.5 inches plus i dont feed crazy either just once a week temps in the mid 70s the other species are T vagans, T albo , A geniculatta, L parahybana theyre all growing so fast im having trouble getting new enclosures fast enough each ones molted at least 5 times this year pretty crazy huh
@@TomsBigSpiders I stumbled upon your pod cast about the chaco golden knee and your observations are correct. I bought 2 L2 size slings at the 2cm size 1 burrowed and 1 just roamded the enclosure. I have never had a big spider because all of my tarantulas were bought as 1 cm slings.
Hey Tom...Something is up with one of my new sling-homoeomma peruvianum...it ate fine 2 weeks ago...its not in a death curl but front legs slightly curled and constantly twitching front legs also a little sluggish...no bugs or mites...the only thing i couldthink of is dehydration but substrateis moist with a damp corner and water dish ...I'm new to the hobby & very comfused
Hello! Is it possible that it filled up the last time it ate and is in premolt? That can lead to sluggishness. If you think that I might be dehydrated, try leading it over the water dish to see if it will drink. Sometimes, they appear to be acting oddly even though everythign is just fine.
@TomsBigSpiders I think it was a combination of both...dehydration and pre-molt...found it twice in the water dish...almost looked dead...it eventually crawled into pre-made burrow and lodged itself @ the bottom where it's been for the last 4 days...should be fine now...thanks Tom
Great video Tom! I think you are right on where you got the enclosures, I have one of each of those that came from Fear Not when I purchased a couple slings from them. They came with the tarantulas because I went to the store in person when I bought those.
I had one of these guys for a lil bit. Because of a mix up when I ordered from an online store. I ordered a b. Smithi & got a b.emillia.😬 identified it and sent it back for my smithi. 😃👏
@@TomsBigSpiders I did see a vid on her now you've said , where you'd said you thought she was a hybrid so you didn't want to breed her. I didn't realise she was your only one ...still at least she's with the best person she could be with and your Emilia is lush I loved how sassy she was , wasn't going anywhere without giving a little kick first 😆
I've been wanted to get 1 for a while but the only available here in South Africa are 1cm slings..beautiful T's and once again GREAT video-i watch all your vids and take in to account everything you say.. BTW LIVE your shirt👍
I wish I would've gotten one of these when I had the chance, they're kinda pricey though. Very worth it regardless I'd bet, anyway glad I'll have this to touch up on once I do finally get one/or some.
Hello, Zulema! So sorry for the late reply! They are very pricey, which is why it took me to get one as well. That said, now that I have this one, I think that it was a good buy. Thank you!
Another great video. I have a gorgeous juvenile, she has moulted twice since I've had her. It's funny because she is so cute & beautiful and my youngest son named her Corpse Grinder 😂 (Cannibal Corpse fan). I call her Cg for short. Your emilia is a beauty xx
I picked up a 1" Brachypelma emilia sling as my first tarantula back in October, and it's molted 4 times for me now. Mine is just as stubborn when being rehoused though, just does not want to move 😅
Hey Tom! Thanks for this video. I've had my B emilia for some months and idk why she's suuuuper skittish. She's around 4 inches. I hope she calms down after her next molt. Mine doesn't like moisture at all, as u said.
My B.emilia hasn't molted in like 9 months, the old "A watched pot never boils" lol She lost a leg her first molt with me and has molted once since so I'm wanting to see it fully grown back :)
Hey, bud! Hopefully, this summer. I've been doing a LOT of rehousings, and I don't want to do it until I have most of them situated in the new enclosures.
Is there a reason that you put her in a cylinder enclosure? I have an older Emilia she's in rectangular enclosure. She spends all her time on a plant that is in the enclosure. I have not seen her walk on the substrate since I rehoused her.
Hi, Kelli...sorry for the late reply! No, I just like the looks of them and this one was a good size. Rectangular works just as well. As for the substrate, is it too moist or fluffy?
I got a great deal on a mature female (sold unsexed) at a show, and I just adore her. Petra is normally very calm -- I joke that if she were any more chill, she would be dead. However, she does have the dubious honor of being the only tarantula that has bitten me. Petra grabbed onto the pipette I was using to refill her water dish and started climbing out of the feeding hatch when I tried to withdraw it. I didn't have anything to block her within reach, and I had to act fast to prevent an escape. (I didn't want her to crawl out and fall off the shelf.) Without thinking, I reflexively moved to block her with the palm of my hand. Petra was in feeding response mode and bit the web between the thumb and index finger.
Oh wow...that's bonkers! Just goes to show you that even the most "docile" Ts can bite in certain circumstances. Glad to hear that she's calmed down in her old age. haha Thanks for sharing!!!
Awww she's so pretty ❤️. To appreciate me saying that, I used to be an arachnophobe, kill all spiders, and now I just want one, can't make up my mind yet, LoL 😂😆
@@TomsBigSpiders I love them now, I realized how really fragile they are, and how beautiful they can be. Everyone asks me how I overcame my fear and I told them, I binge watched your videos as well as some others and now they are doing it too 😆😂
Hey Tom, beautiful T you have there. I was just curious at what size your emilia started showing some adult coloration. I bought a 1/2" sling a year ago, it's about 1" now. I know patience is a virtue but I just can't wait to see those colors!
Hi Tom 👋 I'm new to this hobby and I have my b. Emilia sling as my first tarantula 😌 However, I do have a problem with it since it does not eat the pre-killed mealworms I provide. Is it normal or not? What should be done about it? :) Do you got any tips for me as a newbie? 😅 Thanks a lot!
Hi, Adrian! What size is the spider and what size are the meal worms. If it's a tiny sling and you are offering it whole prekilled mealworms, try cutting them into section and drop a chunk in with your spider. They will usually be okay with that. Also, could it be in premolt?
I have only been keeping spiders for about a year or so now. I don't really really have much experience but I bought mine for less then a year maybe 8 months? It cost me less then $50 at chaotic xotics in Medicine Hat Alberta. The owner of the store Terry is wonderful and gave me a great deal so I'm unsure of the actual price as I bought a bunch of stuff including a b Boehmei. I was told they grow very slow from a sling. Mine seemed to grow rather fast. The Boehmei was just a little slower. I'd love to see a video of which spiders are the fastest and slowest growing. I'd also like to see one that compares webs. Please if you could BTW when I bought the slings they were so small I could hardly see them now they are about 2 inches
Hi, Liz! Man, you got a great deal on yours. They are usually much more pricey! My B. boehmei actually grew at a medium pace overall. I can definitely work on a list of the webbing spiders. Thanks!
I love the emilia. I think of all the Brachy's I'd want, the emilia would be at the top of the list. Such a beautiful spider. And it's not just cos I dated a girl called Emilia, although the similarities are uncanny, she too was beautiful, but could also be dangerous if not treated with respect, also had to carefully check her temperament to see if she was OK for handling... truly uncanny...
Hey Tom how’s it going Great video as usual Sorry This question isn’t related to video I’m getting ready to order a bio active package from BioDude for my P. metallica he’s out of the Poecilotheria package would it be ok to use a different package the Caribena versicolor package be ok to use sorry for the long comment
Hey, Jeremy! I can't complain. Yeah, you should be able to use another package without incident. Those packages are really just suggestions. Hope that helps!
My B. Emilia is 3 year old and as long as my thumb and doesn’t always eat once a week why is that? (Not molting it melted 3 months ago and I don’t know if it’s male or female I got it as a sling)
Hi, Raquelle! This species tends to be quite slow growing, and they can be picky with the eating. As longs as she is growing and molting, I wouldn't worry.
Hello! That's a great size to start with. I would put her in something around 16 oz or so or a 4 x 4" cube. That would give her some room to burrow and to grow. Congrats!
Hey has anyone ever seen a tarantula kick food out of its burrow? I was trying to feed my cobalt blue sling (that recently molted about 5 days ago) and as I’m putting the roach into its burrow it began kicking it out. Then as it was at the entrance of its burrow I tried again and it just kept kicking/pushing it away
Sorry for the delay! Yes, they will often do that if they are in premolt and not interested in eating. I had a Phormictopus kick a cricket right out of its enclosure before.
Hi! My juvenile B.hamorii (around 5 cm in leg span) did moult for ca 2 months ago. The weird thing was that it refused food for 6 or 7 weeks. Do you know why i mean the Exo should have been dry several weeks earlier. ?
Sometimes they take an extra long time to go back on feed again. I've had some take a couple months after a molt before eating again. It all depends on the spider.

@@TomsBigSpiders back in the late '80s all cool tarantulas lived on neon pink gravel!. :)
She just couldn't resist, Jack. haha I was hoping that this one would do some digging, but nothing yet!
@@TomsBigSpiders Mine has gone crazy in the last 2 days ! He's dug himself a subterranean kingdom, and he makes a point of dumping the spoil in his water dish. The difference in giving him deeper substrate has been unbelievable to be honest.
Hi Tom,
So glad that you acquired this species, I have a female who is an absolute stunner. Can’t wait for you to discover how amazing they look as adults!
I think your specimen moved more in this video than my girl has in 3 years haha, and I am barely exaggerating, she is the definition of a pet rock. But when food comes around, all hell breaks loose…
Anyway, wishing you the best with this species!
Thank you so much, Lipton! Hahaha A couple others have said the same thing about theirs...that they are pet rocks. I'm totally okay with that, especially with a great feeding response! Thanks for chiming in and sorry for the late reply!
Hey Tom 🙂
And a super video again😁👍💪‼️
emilia's are great, one of the favorite T's of my wife 🙂.
Our very old female sadly died 2 months ago😔😭.
Now we still have a young adult female and a very young male, looking forward to breed them in the Future 😍😍.
They have such a wonderful behavior and calmness , that's unbelievable ‼️
At least our are that way.
But not the best eaters🙄😂❗
Hope you all are doing good.
Greetings to Billy and the kids🙂

We will do our best to get a sack 😉❗
Are they not very common in the US, (hard to get)?
Here you find them quite often and not expensive at all..... Like 50-60 € for a young adult female.

Hi Tom just Checking back in with you. Today I just picked up a B.Emilia Shes gorgeous and so sweet she only flicked her hairs at me once for trying to rush her out of her old enclosure totally my fault but got her in very easy & just finished your care video for this girl. Hey, Corn Bread! Thanks so much, bud !
You're being a mind reader again. I'm picking up 3 B.emilia slings on monday. Great timing!
Hey, Vica! Fantastic! I'm so glad that I timed this well!
I use the matchbox cases as well. I get mine from hobby lobby and they are inexpensive. Love emilias. Such great spiders.
That's awesome...congrats on getting one! And they sound awesome. I love me a good rodeo show!

E.g; How about that new thing about jumpers? That they may be DREAMING?!

Once read about this guy, who had Ts. He took an egg sac away from a female. She searched for that thing for THREE DAYS... before forgetting about it!🤯😢
Adorable!
Thanks, Carol!
Thanks Tom . Enjoy your long weekend !
Thank you, Dan! I definitely plan to. :)
They seem to pack on size more quickly once they hit the inch mark. They are such a pretty species.
Brilliant video as usual Tom, and what a beautiful B. Emilia, definitely on my wish list, they're beautifully coloured.
Hi, George! Yeah, I'm loving the color as well. Such a cute spider! Thank you!
I have a B. :D
Hi, Loracarol! Sorry for the late reply. Man, that dealer is definitely good to you...that's awesome! What an awesome birthday present.

I agree completely, bud! Sadly, some lack the patience. :(
@@TomsBigSpiders so very true, I just see it as I'm gonna be keeping these animals for the next 50 years and making UA-cam content about it so if it takes 3-4 years for it to reach adult size then.... So what, it's very short when you look at it like that
Great video Tom! I have zero interest in Brachys but this species is particularly gorgeous. I love both the enclosures so much- I really need to get some round enclosures they look so pretty! Keep up the awesome work!
Yeah, I had no interest in them for quite some time, so I get it. Thanks!

Hey, Bill! So sorry for the late reply. Don't you love it when they just refuse to grow up? hahaha
When will you do a new tour video of your new room?

Hi Tom 👋
I'm new to this hobby and I have my b. Emilia sling as my first tarantula 😌
However, I do have a problem with it since it does not eat the pre-killed mealworms I provide.
Is it normal or not? What should be done about it? :)
Do you got any tips for me as a newbie? 😅
Thanks a lot!
Thanks!
Hey Tom, I look forward to watching you moistening down a corner in one of these round containers!

I'm so glad that I finally got one, as I had been eyeing them for years. Bahahaha That is amazing! hahaha

Hi, Raquelle! This species tends to be quite slow growing, and they can be picky with the eating. As longs as she is growing and molting, I wouldn't worry.
Do you know any places I can get a Chilobrachys sp. kaeng Krachan sling
Ummm...not at the moment, but I'll keep a lookout!
I’m getting an inch big baby soon. What size enclosure should I go for?
Ok thx for your answer ! I was worried i might have done something wrong in care for the tarantula or some other issue.
I have B. Boehmei like 5 inches DLS. What’s the best enclosure size for her. I’m a newbie in this hobby. Thanks
Sorry for the delay, Mark. I have mine in something that offers around 1.3 square feet of floor space.
@@TomsBigSpiders is 12x12x12 exp terra good for her? I want her to become comfortable since she’s my only T. Btw I love all your videos. I always watched it every time it pops up in my phone. Thank you for all your work and guide people like us
Is she sometimes docile to u and did u handle her sometimes?
She seems to be rather laid back overall, but she will run when spooked. I have not handled her.
Just got my Mexican red legged today for $50 at pet smart, it was half off because no one wanted it even though it’s just a baby
Hi, Hunter! Awwww...poor little guy. That's a great deal.
What size is that round cylinder
Hi, Uriel. 3.5" tall by 4" diameter.
Is my favorite species i wish get one
Hopefully, you are able to find one!
@@TomsBigSpiders i like docile tarantula and they are nature
Do you still have your retired enclosures???
Hi, Tina! I do! I have to clean some out. Most are at my old house that we are still preparing to put up for sale. I hope to get them out soon!
So uhh Tom..is that an old morgue/autopsy table?
Maybe? ;) hahaha No, it's a culinary table. haha
wow these grow slow. :) Very cute though. I'm used to my Pokies and Psalmopoeus that grow like they're on steroids or something.
Yeah, they definitely can't compete with either of those genera. haha
A juvenile can live in a bigger enclosure?
Yes, althoug it likely wouldn't use the extra space.
@@TomsBigSpiders thank you so much, love your videos
hey man I have another question, my room in winter is either like 18 or 20 Celsius, is that ok for an brachypelma Emilia? or should I get a warmer? thank you

Tarantula Tom PogU
Hahahaha
I just got 1 today
Congrats, Vanessa!
So in that size they are already prone to kick hairs 🤣
They totally can be. I've found that Brachy juveniles tend to kick more than their adult counterparts.
I have a large Juvie female stunning Ts mate
Thank you so much, Michael!
@@TomsBigSpiders your welcome
