"The sport itself won." I completely agree with this sentiment. I've been waiting for this fight for years and am so happy we finally got to see it. This is such a great time to be a boxing fan. It's never been easier to watch the fights, and to follow all of the fighters. Regardless of how I feel about the scoring of this bout at least I got to see a wonderful match that lived up to the hype.
@@GrubKiller436 This is the absolute maximum. Bivol won in no universe and should not get a win. Floyd Mayweather Jr's students like Fury and Bivol are getting exposed left right and center, Tank is the last big one left.
I'm a heavy Beterbiev fan coming into this fight. I still am, but now I also a Bivol fan. What a great performance from two top athletes. No BS no drama, just fight. Can't wait for the rematch.
@@dinowasd7632yeah Bivol was on autopilot in the last three rounds…I thought they were still gonna give it to him since his promoter was the one putting on the show
According to Closter, Beterbiev won rounds 4-6, 11 and 12, and rounds 7, 8 and 10 are swing rounds. So technically 116-112 is possible with his logic if you give all of the swing rounds to beterbiev.
Personally I had Bivol up by 2 rounds. From what I saw, Bivol outboxed for most if the rounds. However, Beterbiev turned up the heat in the final rounds. IMO it was ao close that it could have got either way but I think Bivol won it. The 116-112 call was ridiculous but not much can be done. Overall a super tense fight with a rather disappointing ending for me but I'm m so down to see a rematch!

Beterbiev has bricks for hands, and then his head/chin is a brick too. The optics definitely favored Artur Beterbiev. Props to Bivol for being the 1st and thus far the only non-stoppage loss on Beterbiev’s perfect record. Artur Beterbiev is now at least Top-4 Pound-for-Pound.
What's crazy is most of the damage Bivol sustained was caused, as he explained, by his own gloves hitting his face when Beterbiev was landing. That's power
@@phazonclash exactly even bivol is admitting to the power and difficulty also bivol said he needs time to heal from the fight for rematch and people saying bivol dominate are just bias
I think what people dont understand is that Bivol made a bunch of decisions at the end of rounds that judges hate and in a close fight, that matters a lot. Floyd was incredible at doing things judges love, doesnt mean he was not awesome he was just smart. And the mistake bivol made was clinching to close out rounds, starting ineffective trades near the end of rounds and getting rocked and pushed around the ring. Judges care about that stuff
Finally someone who seen what I seen. People trying to credit Bivol with a lot of close round where he tried to steal by throwing wild missed or blocked combos at the last 15 seconds of the rounds.
@@dion4670 uuhhh what? Every judge is like that? Humans have their biases. If im judging a fight im going to be looking for effective damage and who is imposing their will or in other words doing what they want to do. I thought BIvol won by one round but I can understand a Draw or a 115-113 for Beterbiev. Regardless it was a close, competitive, high level match us hardcore fans could appreciate. I hope they run it back!
One thing I noticed when I rewatched the fight is how biased the entire broadcast is in favor of Bivol. The commentators sugar coats every little thing Bivol does even though you can see Beterbiev is winning the round. Even the replays in between rounds shows Bivol's highlights most of the time even in those Beterbiev rounds! Lol. That's not enough, DAZN's post fight highlights is literally a Bivol highlights! I think this is why a lot of casuals thought that Bivol won the fight.
I also noticed that, to the point I wondered if they were watching the same fight I was. Confirmation bias? I definitely thought Beterbiev was doing way better than they did, and his partially blocked shots had a definite effect, as evident from the way the fighters looked at the end of the fight.
They say that to motivate their fighter, if you listen to corners they say those things often. You reckon Garcia for instance in Joshua usyk 2 actually thought Joshua won the first three rounds? No, he says so to make Joshua motivated and not to despair. A coach knows his boxer and they motivate them differently.
And whats wrong with that? Beterbiev won all his fights by knockout, he and his team wanted this time also knockout like in the last fight, like always.
man that's the most stupid and brainless argument on why you think a fighter was robbed. "even their own corner thought he lost" no sherlock, the trainer himself said, we wanted to leave no doubts about a win and tried to encourage artur to knock him out.
They said that after he lost the 8th and 9th, then Artur went out and battered Bivol for 3 straight rounds. Clearly the sense of urgency worked to motivate their fighter
@@MechAdv They said that after the 10th round. They said it when there were two rounds left. Artur Beterbiev had a close round 10 that could have gone either way. Other than that, Beterbiev lost rounds 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9.
@@GrubKiller436 I had 7 and 8 as swing rounds, 10 for Beterbiev. So being extremely generous to Bivol and giving him both like you did, I could agree with a draw. I’m honestly shocked at the controversy on this decision. 115-113 Beterbiev was the right score imo.
The three judges were an American Glenn Feldman, a Spaniard Manuel Oliver Palomo and a Polish Pawel Kardyni. The referee in charge of the fight was an American. The American Glenn Feldman scored it 114-114, the Spaniard Manuel Oliver Palomo scored it 115-113 in favor of Bivol, and the Polish Pawel Kardyni scored it 116-112. For the judge that scored it 116-112, I don’t get fussed about 1 bad score card. That’s why they have three judges. I had it 114-114. And I thought I was being generous to Bivol.
There were many close rounds. 7-5 and 8-4 are similar decisions seperated by only one round and it does not matter at the end. Two judges ruled it a Beterbiev win.

Both fighters are a credit to the sport of boxing and admirable role models for young men. Far to many boxers/promoters will duck legitimate competition to keep the easy money flowing. Beterbiev and Bivol are 2 of my favorite boxers and I hope they both gained many new fans after this fight. Boxing won, the fans won. Perhaps we can ask judges to explain their decisions in the future so we can get better insight into why they scored fights a certain way.
Excellent fight! The whole fight between Beterbiev and Bivol was held in a forceful manner. Both boxers were attentive to their opponent's punches, as they realized that missing one accentuated punch could lead to a knockout. Beterbiev after the first three rounds of the attempt to work on technique began to press, throwing out his powerful punches. However, he was unable to lock onto Bivol and knock him out as he had done with all of his previous opponents. Bivol was constantly shifting Biterbiev's aim, defending with his block and shifting from side to side, preventing him from landing a series of knockout punches. The center of the ring remained behind Biterbiev most of the time. In this fight we did not see the famous element of movement from the Soviet style of boxing - shuttle kick, performed by Dmitry Bivol. The use of the shuttle is suitable in amateur boxing, where 3 rounds, as well as in work with a boxer-player or slow-moving opponent. Bivol used the defense with a block and a trip takedown to the side. Countered Beterbiev with counter power work. We didn't see any spurts of concussive strikes from Beterbiev in this fight. We can discuss a lot about who won this fight. I will say that the fight was very competitive. Both opponents were strong both physically and technically. Nobody fell in the ring. We all saw this exciting fight. Beterbiev showed that he has the right to be the winner, and Bivol proved that he is unbeatable. Before the fight I gave 30% that Beterbiev would win by knockout and 70% that Bivol would win on points. The result of the fight surprised me - Beterbiev won a judges' decision for the first time in his professional career. I was also surprised by Bivol's hard power style of fighting, which started to take shape since his fight with Canelo Saul Alvarez. Bivol's feet became more stocky, minimal use of the shuttle. Dmitry Bivol proved himself in exchanging hard punches with Beterbiev. We saw the athletic power of the athletes. I think everyone will learn a lesson from this fight. Personally, I was once again convinced that cardio and physical endurance are an important component for a boxer. Recently I have added to my training the recommendations from the practical manual “400 Boxing Combinations” by Yuriy Ivantsiv. This manual contains training schemes, how to develop stamina, physical strength, to work out skills of close combat, middle and long distance fighting, to work out a knockout punch and a series of power punches in non-stop mode through practicing boxing combinations. Every time I finish practicing 10 rounds on the bag, I realize that these are the unforgettable sensations I was missing in the training process. As a result - my endurance has improved, during sparring I don't have a fleeting confusion about which series of punches to throw. I understand what blows my sparring partner is going to deliver, so I have time to defend and counterattack. After a month of training on the methodology “400 Boxing Combinations” I managed to diversify my combinatorial punching technique. Finally, I would like to recommend everyone to subscribe to this channel. It puts out useful content for all boxing fans! I wish you all success and good luck!

In my point of view, Beterviev respected Bivol very much. He only boxed Bivol. That's why Beterviev did not humiliated Bivol via knockout. There were many opportunities Bivol will be knockout, but Beterviev holded out. Respect to both great boxers and respect to the outcome of the game.
Beterbiev's relentless pressure and powerful body shots were a decisive factor in his victory over Bivol. Very tough fight to judge. I gave AB most of the latest rounds which is why my score was 116-112 for him. Bivol was merely fighting in spurts, perhaps 20 to 30 seconds per round while AB would put the pressure, corner him, threw combinations which moved him everywhere (just look at his face).
Thought it was a draw but i thought they’d give it to bivol by 1 point, but can’t blame the judges beterbiev was aggressive pressuring going forward the whole time and ended the fight strong, a rematch is needed tho

Honestly it was a tight decision but I think beterbiev took it, he threw a bunch of punches through bivol's guard that may have seemed to most of those watching as blocked but they actually landed. Bivol won 115-113 I can't see how someone would score this for Beterbiev, Bivol blocked pretty much all his shots, Bivol outlanded him with cleaner shots at a better percentage and all that Beterbiev did was push the pace but that doesn't really matter
@ViniciusJunior17 beterbiev had ring general ship, and arrgesion, which is on the boxing criteria plus look at bivol face. Bivol barely put a dent on beterbiev plus beterbiev punches were getting through Bivol glove. And beterbiev punches were more damaging. Bivol had more clean punches but it was teddy bear
I had similar thoughts around Bivol winning during the earlier rounds of the contest, by using his jab and combos, but I truly felt Beterbiev was stronger, appeared much more in control, and used his punching power more effectively to win the contest.
Bivol always ran and defended from Beterbiev's attacks because Bivol was afraid of being KO'd, but his supporters were shameless and refused to accept that Bivol lost, even though everything was clear and the judges thought Beterbiev deserved to win.
Honestly it was such a good fight, both fighters just did incredible. it was so close I would've been happy with any fighter winning. Bivol I thought did enough but I thought beterbiev was way more entertaining as a fighter. I would not be mad at all at a rematch. also the show before hand was jaw dropping.
Round 12 on rewatch I think Bivol won, Beterbiev was moving forward a lot and backing Bivol up but overwhelming majority of his punches were avoided or blocked. Bivol fighting on the backfoot made Beterbiev look like he was having a lot more success than was what actually happened. I think Beterbievs constant pressure won the judges over but Bivol out punched him throughout the fight.
This exactly. But i do agree Beterbiev hurt Bivol with a body shot. Bivol did got hit but not by a lot to win the fight. It just seemed like he hit bivol but the punches were blocked or evaded. Crazy. In exchanges, bivol got the most of it as he hits arthur while managed to evade arthur's punches.

Regardless on who you think won, as no one will settle to an agreement, this fight was absolutely entertaining and insane! I was on the edge of my seat while watching this, and although I do believe that 116-112 scorecard was a bit criminal, I saw that fight going to either fighters. Bivol with the cleaner shots, while Beterbiev had the nonstop aggression near the end. I respect both fighters greatly, and the only thing I wish to say is what defines the winner of a fight by points? because I feel like situations like Isaac Cruz vs Tank Davis or Haney vs Loma reflect this same mentality of what shots matter and what aggression matters overall through the fight. I wish to see both fighters continue to be amazing!
I really thought beterbiev won and I honestly can’t see how people are giving it to bivol. Beterbiev was in control most of the fight hunted him down except for a few rounds. While beterbiev didn’t “land” he did damage by hitting his glove. And put the pressure. Bivol fought like he was trying to survive while beterbiev was was fighting to win. 116-112 is crazy tho. I thought it was was clear that beterbiev won tbh
When you face a pressure fighter like Bertie Beetle you have to fight a matador counter puncher style, you can't stand in the pocket and trade all night, that's just stupid.
Even the guys who think Artur won have to admit that he didn’t actually land punches. Bivol was landing clean all night and had impenetrable defence. He literally boxed perfectly. I give up.
@@emjay3066 these guys are too inbred from years or reproducing with cousins to have a cognitive understanding of how fights are scored... dont waste your time
@@emjay3066 my thoughts exactly. How can you score punches and say a guy is doing damage hitting gloves and shoulders? It's literally why blocks exist, to take the sting away and make punches mostly nullified. Where as Bivol landed clean beautiful hard shots multiple times in every round. Even Beterbiev said he was outclassed and thought he lost! Yes Bivol had bruising on his eyes because the power was still hurting by his own gloves hitting his own eyes, and that's why it was still a tight fight, but it was clear that Bivol was the one doing cleaner more damaging work in most of the rounds.
That's a fair take, Artur was definitely on the offensive and Bivol was on the defensive most of the fight, but I think many people thought Bivol's effective combos were enough to win by points, myself included.
And this is why people constantly joke about corruption in the sport of boxing. Beterbiev winning 8 out of 12 rounds is ludicrous. Phenomenal fight and top tier performance from both fighters but 116-112 for either of them would be extremely disingenuous. Rematch is needed.

The stats are in, and it turns out Bivol only threw few more punches that actually hit the target. So, if you’re keeping score at home, that’s not exactly a knockout performance! And let’s not forget, Beterbiev was landing those power punches like he was trying to break a piñata at a kid's birthday party. "These rounds could be scored either way" is always the death of judging. None of the judges saw it as Bivol winning those rounds, while many people did. I had it 115-113 for Bivol. To me Bivol had won 7 rounds of the first 10. Beterbiev didn't do enough and his big moments of activity mostly hit the guard of Bivol, something judges usually don't give points for (nor should they). That said, it was a fantastic back and forth fight and 100% deserves a rematch.
You don't deserve an undisputed belt if you run and turtle most of the night like Bivol did...especially not during the championship rounds. Beterbiev deserved this win.
I thought Bivols footwork and handle speed gave Artur trouble. Bivol showed good defense and caught alot of punches with his gloves. Bivols physical strength also surprised me. I had Bivol winning the fight
i think what tipped the decision over the beterbiev is because of his effective aggression and ring generalship. The defense was basically even and bivol won on hard clean punches so the only thing left to decide the fight on who was applying the most pressure. There were a lot of round that i couldnt tell who one so at first the 116-112 wide card was surprising it makes more sense after everything calmed down but still, i think bivol won more than 4 rounds of the 12 so honstly yeah 116-112 is still wild

116-112 for Bivol would be utter bullshit. 116-112 in general is a stupid scorecard for a fight this close. This fight was close enough to be 7-5 for either man or 6-6 anything more is just biased bollocks.
It shows you how risky it is to rely on information coming from your corner. Beterbiev was told to go for a knockout or they'll lose. Bivol was told only to hold on for a few more rounds, and that's a win form him. I am 100% positive if bivol wasn't so calculated he could've landed more punches in 11th and 12th round, which would be enough to leave a better impression on very, very subjective judges.
Promoters and people sitting in front rows always know a few seconds before they announce it. Same thing with Fury Usyk. Eddie Hearn and others were saying it's a split decision 10 seconds before the announcement.

I also noticed that, to the point I wondered if they were watching the same fight I was. Confirmation bias? I definitely thought Beterbiev was doing way better than they did, and his partially blocked shots had a definite effect, as evident from the way the fighters looked at the end of the fight.

I'd rather they call more rounds that are too closer to call even and more rounds in which one fighter is clearly dominant 10-8 or even wider, even if there are no knockdowns.
fight was a close fight and not a robbery.
That polish judge who scored the fight 117-112 needs to be investigated.
I had 7-5 bivol with one round that was definitely a swing round. At least ruled a draw. However this fight was close not a robbery.
That being said, yes, betebiev was the aggressor forcing bivol to fight on the back foot. But the majority of arturs punches were not clean. Most of the shots landed on bivols gloves and arms.
Even at the end of round 10, on the broadcast you can hear arturs corner telling him he needed to knock bivol out so even they knew they were losing.
Bivol BOXED beterbiev, he wasn't the aggressor because he couldn't be, you can't fight in the pocket with a power puncher like artur. Bivol would've got knocked out
There needs to be a rematch.

This was a good fight. I hope they do the rematch these are definitely the two best at this weight.
i have it 115-113 for beterbiev, for me ring generalship counts and i feel bivol did not take enough risk and allowed artur to dictate the pace and move him around
Great fight from two warriors , it was a close fight, but Betterbiev was the one moving forward almost the whole fight , and that on boxing makes the difference.
I had Bivol 116-112, he landed the most efficient punches the entire fight and Arthur almost did not hurt him as Bivol dodged or blocked everything that was thrown at him. Even if you don’t agree on how I scored the fight, it is crystal clear that Bivol won that fight
Bro beterbiev won 100%. Beterbiev landed more hits on bivol. He break the Defence of bivol. Bivol was just running like chicken

Both are phenomenal, but artur deserved the win
I knew beterbiev was going to win, he a unique puncher type that actually has the technical ability to win fights without the need to chase a knockout, the knockouts come to him.
Very tough fight to judge. Bivol may have landed more clean shots, but Beterbiev was definitely the aggressor, and his partially blocked blows had an effect, as is evident from the condition of Bivol's face. I also don't like the default 10-9 rounds when there aren't knockdowns. I'd like to see more rounds called even, and greater margins to better reflect the action, regardless of knockdowns.
Beterbiev is a different breed, he walked through everything Bivol did and was walked him down and was pressuring Bivol to the end
I gave AB most of the latest rounds which is why my score was 116-112 for him. Bivol was merely fighting in spurts, perhaps 20 to 30 seconds per round while AB would put the pressure, corner him, threw combinations which moved him everywhere (just look at his face).
I have bivol up 4 to 3 rounds. He's way more accurate and landed more power punches
3 is too much. 4 is just stupid.

I feel the same
Depending on the metrics used to score this fight, it really could've went either way but bivol did a great job at not allowing autur to turn up like he usually likes to, bivol boxing style is a power punchers worst nightmare, for sure would see the rematch if it happens
Honestly it was a tight decision but I think beterbiev took it, he threw a bunch of punches through bivol's guard that may have seemed to most of those watching as blocked but they actually landed. He was also piecing up bivol in the last 3 rounds after his movement slowed down. Bivol definitely put up a great fight tho.
the boxing stats says beterbiev barely landed but bivol face says other i think punching through guards dont get as much points as it should
@@gaw862bivol only landed 4 more total punches than beterbiev but beterbiev punches were more effective and the punches threw the gloves didn’t count but did impact bivol just look at his face and his body would tremble after getting hit and even blocking
Bivol’s faced was bruised because of guarding the punches artur made. With a heavy hitting opponent like beterbiev, bruises to the face are the least dmg you can take. The aggressor doesn’t always win specially if he can’t cut the opponent’s path and keeps getting hit with counter punches

Beterbiev won 7-5

A bunch of people whining about the scorecards, but Bivol lost regardless of the one judge. The fight was dictated by Betetbiev.
Could we see you cover the Wardley vs Clarke rematch?
@@FroggyyML When the fight ended and Beterbiev looked dejected I was surprised because it was a relatively close fight. But I think he knew how little he was actually landing.
@@mezivar5252agree, I just can’t believe it was round 10 and even Arturs corner said he needed a KO. Majority of the punches in those last rounds hit Bivols gloves, that’s what messed his face up the most his own gloves hitting his face. Just a testimony to Arturs power though.
Watched it with a bunch of people and we all kinda agreed with the 116-112. We were more shocked at how one of the judges had it as a draw

Bivol tried to avoid fight most of the time. Bivol did outbox Beterbiev sometimes but he was on the run most of the time.
The constant pressure from Beterbiev proved that he is storger.
Then how come floyd was 50-0 lol, aint no one gonna say how he got 50 wins by running at least 4-6 fights that could've been a loss cuz all he did was run and jab. Bivol always fights like that, he steps back a ton to avoid the hard punch or combos coming at him

Artur won by close points. Look at how bad Bivol face looks.
Your dumbass thinks boxing is only won by how badly someone face looks. Tyson fury has won matches where he had a bloodied face.
Not true
I didn’t know modestPelican made boxing videos too. That’s awesome

It's no wonder Bivol came out looking like he just lost a fight with a paint mixer!
11-1 Bivol
You’re choosing to only say one side of the stats? Beterbiev threw so much more punches lol, stats also say bivol landed much more impactful punches
