My wife's father left when she was 2 months old and never saw her again. It was a tough life of stepfathers, sometimes homeless, sometimes in different states. They weren't all bad, some were. My wife is the person she is today because of the black "wolves" and the white "wolves" that raised her. Her heart has holes, but her teeth are sharper and her skin is tougher. Thank you for the awesome song, and ya'll being bad asses. Keep up the great work
I work in the child welfare field. I've read interviews where Aimee shared glimps of her challenging childhood in Montana and her escape to L.A. It sure adds to the poignancy of her songs like this one. Aimee is not some great fiction writer able to imagine what abuse, neglect, and foster placement might be like. No, the gut-wrenching truth is she is writing NON-FICTION; these songs are chronicling the history that she's overcome. Aimee is laying bare for all of us her memories in these moving songs. It's EXTREMELY POWERFUL to play Aimee's songs while on my break at a juvenile courthouse outside of Chicago where DCFS brings child removal cases. Aimee, thank you for your beautiful art and for having the courage to share your experiences with your fans. You guys have become my FAVORITE BAND. That's no easy feat; you dethroned some ska icons.🙌🏻👏🏻
It is amazing how Aimee can sing about these things that were painful to her and still have a smile on her face. Reading about her life (suicide attempt, domestic abuse, depression, alcohol problems, etc.) and realizing that some of the videos and live performances that I've watched were shot when she was still suffering severely puts it in a new light. I wonder if she puts that smile on for us (like the performer in Queen's Show Must Go On), or she loved music so much that she was genuinely happy and able to put her problems aside while singing
Being a lifetime rancid fan from back in the day when I heard Tim Armstrong or how it came up in the conversation or you know whatever I got to see and hear them on their first album and to see every album get stronger and tighter it's amazing because this album I think is going to get some awards just saying in my opinion and some of the things that she sings about mean a lot to me is I'm in full on recovery since 2012
She strikes me as the type who truly finds relief in music...but it is a good question. I really do feel like music is her everything and her release, coming from a musician myself. When you inverse yourself in it, that smile can often times be even more genuine then even the writer realizes initially.
My grandfather was abandoned by his mother. She left him, his little sister and infant brother in a tent with 4 days of rations in the middle of the northern Alberta wilderness, in winter. For three days my grandfather listened as wolves howled around him. He said at first he was scared, because he thought they would eat him and his siblings. But they never did. Then on the third day I guess my great grandmother felt guilty, told a priest, and he recovered the children from the forest. He was later adopted from as an orphan. When my mom asked him about it years later, he refused for forgive my great grandmother when she begged him to, even in exchange for the fortune she made years later after leaving him to die. He said 'Some things is unforgivable.' This song really reminds me of that story.
AMAZING!! To see Aimee smile as she sings these lyrics is a beautiful thing. Aimee, you're so strong!! And to have Kevin, Jesse, & Justin as your family - and sick ass band mates - I love that you're carrying on and spreading hope with every word. I CAN'T WAIT FOR MY CD TO ARRIVE! Love you guys!
Aimee, man that chick is a much stronger person than I; I will never forgive my father for walking...well, stumbling drunkenly, out of our lives. Even though he's dead and cremated, I feel as though I will forever harbor the hatred and anger he left in his wake. This song may be therapeutic for some, for me it just makes me wish I could see him one more time so I could punch him in his (expletives deleted) face.
Love this band. They keep growing on me. I’m in Detroit Michigan, I was blaring that down the road thinking about all the crap we’ve been through for the past four years as humans on this earth I was feeling the way we were all raised by wolves the way we acted towards each other. Be good to one another.
I cried. For Aimee, for her big heart and her courage to forgive, and for everyone left out in the wild. Love you guys more than anything, and so so so in love with this song and the whole album.❤
I don't think this song is about forgiving. I guess it's rather about some feelings people that have been abandonned got. That is, having to become an adult ; and, for this, being brought forgive your genitors, or you will stay a child your whole life. As I feel it, the happy/catchy tune is a contrast, it's not the topic.
Definitely, the best day of my life was the day I found the Interrupters. I wish could have a fraction of their happiness. Still they always bring me up when I'm down.
This band is flipping amazing. I’m so happy to have found out about them when I did. Aimee’s strength to carry on after all she’s gone through and sing through the pain and heal and help thousands upon thousands gives me hope every day. This is my family 🖤
I don't know why those wolf ooo-oooohs are so effective. Very nice. When I first saw the title in that scratchy font I thought it was going to be an ode to Rancid's "...And Out Come the Wolves." (Like, raised by the music.)
I heard this song on the radio and am glad that I found it. It brings back the same feelings from when I first heard it. There is so much hurt, isolation, and loneliness all coming from a broken heart and healing in these lyrics. Aimee brings it out in such a strong performance. You can really feel this song.
I went to see them live in Las Vegas Almost died on the way on a Frontier flight - scary as heck! But couldn’t think of a better band to try and lift me up after that trauma! Love these great peeps
You got my letter, you read it twice Short breaths, long sighs Might be a liar, might be a drunk But I forgive you for your giving up For your giving up It doesn't matter, my life was shattered And my heart's got holes You left a child out in the wild And I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves We would dig for scraps out in the cold After you left to go and try to find your pot of gold My teeth got sharper, my skin got tough So I forgive you for your giving up For your giving up It doesn't matter, my life was shattered And my heart's got holes You left a child out in the wild And I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves Yeah, when you left and said goodbye Under the moonlight, we had to learn to say alive In the wild You got my letter, you read it twice Short breaths, long sighs Might be a liar, might be a drunk But I forgive you, yeah It doesn't matter, my life was shattered And my heart's got holes You left a child out in the wild And I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves
Just want to underline the sheer impossible task to have a drummer making the harmonic voices in the background. What they did. Speaks a lot of the overall level ! Congratulation from Switzerland for your creations. Beautiful work.
Every time I hear this song I think of my father, who walked out on my mother before I was born. I can really relate to this song, because it took me many years, but I finally forgave him, and looking back I'm glad he left because I think our lives ended up better without him. Thank you for these powerful words
Saw them in Birmingham, UK, on Friday night, they are AMAZING live ! It was a great set, great venue, great atmosphere, they gave it everything, musicians are tight, Aimee's voice and smile wonderful, a very memorable gig, thank you Interrupters, you are an absolute kickass band, i wish you many more years of success/gigging/good health and happiness. I first came across this band in Jan 2022 when i shazammed a song ( Be Gone) from the radio in Ireland, they are now one of my favourite bands. if you are reading this, give all their music a listen, and then you MUST go see them live, you will love them 🙂🙂
I saw them live too, first concert after giving birth, so the hard part was that I was not allowed to jump ahah ;) It was awesome, and it's a memory I'll cherish forever! I hope to see them again soon too :)
This is the first new album I've been pumped on, by anyone, for YEARS. I bought the record yesterday, and I've already bounced the needle back to this song half a dozen times, and it's been on a constant UA-cam loop. I even have my 1 year old daughter going crazy for it.
Listened to the album as soon as it came out on Spotify. Let’s just say it was an emotional ride. We love you guys thanks for giving us the music and a community that’s full of others that just want to unite!!
I'm glad this one wasn't dropped before the release. This is probably the best song on there, fantastic. See you folks in Slovenia at PRH next week and then back here in Manchester at the end of the month for our 5th and 6th time seeing you! Keep up the amazing work 🙌
😭😭😭😭 watching your journey since the Revolution days and seeing you finally arrive here has me sobbing. I’m legit so happy for you, you deserve the world. Can’t wait for the album and to see you guys again! ❤️❤️
After hearing this song on my local radio, I was really surprised. Feels nice knowing that I've subscribed to this band years ago, before they appeared on the radio. Keep it up, I want to hear more of your music when I start my car. Also Aimee is stunning in every way.
Amazing that someone who has gone through so much has been releasing such positive and energetic songs. I always put them on when I am down. Thanks for keeping us going, especially when you have been suffering
I absolutely love this band! Living breathing proof that you can conquer your demons if you don't give up. It's never too late. Keep on rocking you guys! ❤️🔥
when you left and said goodbye.. Under the moonlight, we had to learn to stay alive,In the wild.. as a child who grew up in a broken home, the lyrics made me cry, but I felt great strength when Aimee sang this song. I AM A LION RAISED BY WOLF *_aaawuuuuu_*
I brought my 11 year old daughter to an Interrupters show at a small venue in 2019. We were on the floor by the stage a few rows back when Aimee spotted her snd crossed over to point and wave at her. It was a small gesture, but showed that this band is all heart. At a point in time when most media personalities/celebrities/rockstars or whatever are venal and bullshit, this band is 1000% legit. I'm rooting for their success as if they were friends I've known my whole life. Epic song. Keep fighting the good fight.
I had the pleasure of seeing you guys yesterday at my hometown Reading, Pa. You were the reason I went to the show. Man, it was such a great show a true honor to finally see you play live!! The energy you brought was sublime. Love you all and this song, got me in tears!!! Thank you!!!!
been a casual fan and frequent listener of the band since 2016 but I think that with this record The Interrupters have officially achieved obsession status for me
that voice... have loved Aimee and the Interrupters since the first time they came onto my feed, also helps that she is gorgeous and tough as nails

music is great therapy
As they say in the song… Grew up with nothing but my music!
I think that may be a bit of a marketing thing. This band are so fake. Tim's puppets. Not impressed

This band is such a beacon of light. Thank you for that. I wish more people would give it a listen.
Only discovered this band this year, I'll have to say WHEN DO THEY CONE TO BIRMINGHAM UK!! 😆
🖤

I'm so sorry about that. I had no idea. I wish her all thebest in the world.

Forgive what?
Call down emo.

This is the best song on the album...thanks The Interrupters to this.

I've found singing to be incredibly therapeutic whenever I've been faced with trials and tribulations. Good on her!
They really are!
What a song. Is this the Gen-X anthem? Also, a T shirt please, with Aimee silhouetted like that
.
This isn't just my favorite Interrupters song, THIS IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SONG!! Keep crushing it guys!! Freakin LOVE YOU!!!

You got my letter, you read it twice
Short breaths, long sighs
Might be a liar, might be a drunk
But I forgive you for your giving up
For your giving up
It doesn't matter, my life was shattered
And my heart's got holes
You left a child out in the wild
And I was raised by wolves
I was raised by wolves
I was raised by wolves
We would dig for scraps out in the cold
After you left to go and try to find your pot of gold
My teeth got sharper, my skin got tough
So I forgive you for your giving up
For your giving up
It doesn't matter, my life was shattered
And my heart's got holes
You left a child out in the wild
And I was raised by wolves
I was raised by wolves
I was raised by wolves
Yeah, when you left and said goodbye
Under the moonlight, we had to learn to say alive
In the wild
You got my letter, you read it twice
Short breaths, long sighs
Might be a liar, might be a drunk
But I forgive you, yeah
It doesn't matter, my life was shattered
And my heart's got holes
You left a child out in the wild
And I was raised by wolves
I was raised by wolves
I was raised by wolves
I was raised by wolves
I was raised by wolves
Aouh ouh...
Awooooooooo oooooooo
*sTay alive in the wild....
If you know Amiee's story this is an accurate reflection of her childhood and the childhood of many others. Wonderful song
Just want to underline the sheer impossible task to have a drummer making the harmonic voices in the background. What they did. Speaks a lot of the overall level !
Congratulation from Switzerland for your creations. Beautiful work.
Regarding having a drummer doing the vocals: definitely possible. Check out Levon Helms from The Band.
Badass just that simple.
Every time I hear this song I think of my father, who walked out on my mother before I was born. What an outstanding vision to film portions of this in the outdoors! Y'all look fantastic.
