Michael Ironside is the sort of actor, whom, after one sees him in a role, one cannot imagine anyone else in that role. It's not so much he is the character, as the character is him. Fuck it, he's just awesome.
Michael Ironside is a one of the greatest actors ever. His career is so rich in emotion and creativity. Every performance is memorable and even the bad movies he made better by conviction to his characters. Michael Ironside is and forever will be a legend in the realm of legendary actors.
Ironside told cancer, in his darkseid voice: "you really are a gluten for punishment. Time and again, I've beaten you, humbled you, what makes you think this time will be any different?" -JLU, "Twilight"
"I am many things, Can-Cer. You couldn't begin to imagine half of them. But for now, I shall take the role of a personal health physician. A final gift, my wayward cells. A fast treatment. Infinitely preferable to the shame of multiplying and clumping to other organs. There, your legacy would be one of pain and discomfort. A pariah desperately spreading throughout a body that cursed your name."
He knows that he is just a guy that doesn't buy into the bullshit of himself being any more or less than the countless people in the world. We all can learn from him that keeping your priorities straight is very essential to your happiness. Not always a task to do. But is completely rewarding in the long run.
My first real introduction to Michael was Sam Fisher. Loved the character and the voice and the games but didn't really place a face to the voice. Only until then did I start really seeing him in other films, starting with Starship Troopers. "Wait a second, that's Sam Fisher!!" Such a great guy.
He has the most awesome voice, was the coolest guy in 'V' & Kicked Cancer in the balls…TWICE! That guy is truly a Badass & yet he is STILL the most underrated movie actor in Hollywood today.
You raise the bar in every movie you are in. Total Recall would be nothing without you. My favourite scene is when Arnie escapes into the subway train and Michael just: "AAAahhhh!!!" and expression on his face: Priceless
Great interview. Kudos to the interviewer for actually listening to what he's saying. I love interviews that feel like a conversation between two friends.
R.I.P Sam Fisher. I will miss you, my old friend. And I will never forget the good old memorys, especially the chaos theory. You will always be my hero!
@@hazardflow8141 He didn't, but Sam Fisher's voice was replaced at the time for Blacklist, almost killing the character's badassery. Thank god Ironside is back to playing him.
@@IoiniEverson Agreed, but tbg, I don't think Ubisoft can be trusted with making another game. I say leave it as it is and have him show up in other games.
This video deserves more views than it has. Michael Ironside is still a relatively unknown actor, extremely underrated. He deserves more recognition. Also, I loved to see him in Command and Conquer 3.
God Bless both Michael and his wife Karen, for staying strong together and raising 2 beautiful daughters. He's pure class and one helluva an actor, when the idiots in charge actually give him something worthwhile that allows him to prove that he's one of the better actors out there. I also love his voice, Hopefully this brush with cancer will convince him to stop smoking, we need you here and healthy Michael!!!!!
Ok that’s a good one. I don’t think I have one I just absolutely fucking made myself the best at the games. But now I need to play them over and over and find my favorite because I remember that in conviction but definitely forgotten all about the humor this man is a damn legend. Please one more cell for us man before you call it we need a finale game:
A lot of younger kids see him as Sam Fisher....People like me see him as Lieutenant Commander Rick "Jester" Heatherly in TOPGUN. That was the first film I saw him in.
so amazing to hear from a long -time character actor about his perspective on life as someone who struggles himself with roles that aren't always great but still they make some difference and only add to your experience keep the fight going MICHEAL!!!
Cancer: "It's over Ironside. I'm too powerful even for you" Ironside: "I told you once cancer, if you would not be my knight you would be my bitch" Cancer: "I see you're a man in denial." Ironside "I am many things cancer. You couldn't begin to imagine half of them. But for now I shall assume the role of executioner" *fires Omega Beams into his own body and cures it*
I didn't know he was in "Top Gun", but saw many movies with him almost as a villain. Awesome voice and presence, awesome actor. Specific smile. Temember him in "Highlander", "Total Recall"...
I met Michael at London Comic Con around the time this interview took place. Out of all the actors I met he was the warmest and funniest of them all. An honour to have met the man.
he got where he is because of his voice.. and his father was a total bad ass.. working and not seeing him but still knew what his son wanted and liked with little interaction.. Not many parents can say that now
I can see why they didn't use him, with the overly physical nature of the vocal capture style they used... but I dunno, they could have at least found someone that somewhat sounds like Sam. The guy is way too young, you can hear it in his voice clear as day.
Keizenberg trying to sell a game with fancy ass cinematics rather than cool ass gameplay with the old things that were great from the other games. Companies really make stupid decisions all in favour of big cash.
Michael Ironside doesn't beat cancer, he sneaks past it, knocks it out and hides the body
Ben Knight he then disintegrates it with his omega beams
Ben Knight You just made my day!
Richter's cancer...will NOT be at the party.
Hahahaha that's right 😂👍
😂😂PERFECT!!!👌👌
I'm here because I missed the real Sam Fisher voice.
I kmow right... :(
I'm here because I missed the real Darkseid voice.
There is only one Darkseid and his name is Michael Ironside your new lord and savior
Red Son Superman
You mean your new leader and master.
He's back now baby! Let's have a new splinter cell please!!!
His voice killed the cancer. He is one of my childhood Icons. He was that badass you wanted to be when you grow up.
Michael Ironside will always be Sam Fisher
and Sam Fisher will always be Michael Ironside
And Michael will always be a Scanner
To me, it will be Ham Tyler.
Soo true he is the embodying spirit of Tom Clancy splinter cell
Yep and Michael Ironside will always be the best Darkseid in my opinion.
Wrong! He is Revok! Darryl Revok!
Michael Ironside is the sort of actor, whom, after one sees him in a role, one cannot imagine anyone else in that role. It's not so much he is the character, as the character is him. Fuck it, he's just awesome.

One of the greatest character actors ever!
People here think of Sam Fisher when they hear him speak, when he speaks I immediately think of Darkseid.
TheShapeH31 darryl revok for me
I think of both
Love it he is something to all of us
... guess, i´m the only one who thinks of his only one rule ...
Michael Ironside should be sith lord in future star wars films
I Agree
+MVsalo that would be amazing
+MVsalo Indeed, little grasshopper.
He already was. #darkforces
Ironside told cancer, in his darkseid voice: "you really are a gluten for punishment. Time and again, I've beaten you, humbled you, what makes you think this time will be any different?" -JLU, "Twilight"
A gluten for punishment hahaha what an illiterate!
@@tobiasengel8385 Maybe an intentional pun, if a homeopathic treatment for cancer involves cutting down on gluten :) heh
This guy is awesome! He always plays bad guys but I've always heard he's such a nice and humble guy in real life
One of the greatest actors of our time. Why don't guys like this get recognized at the big awards shows?
Holy shit he beat cancer twice? Fuckin badass.
Of course he's a Badass,he voiced Darkseid,Sam Fisher and Ultra Magnus.
even cancer didn't see the 3 little lights in the darkness.

One of my favorite actors. Especially playing villains. I heard he’s very fan friendly.
One of my all time favorite actors and voice actors.
Love him!
Glad I came across this interview. I knew he was a good actor, but boy, what a human being!
I was just thinking that. Always thought he'd be stoic and humourless. Quite the opposite.
He knows that he is just a guy that doesn't buy into the bullshit of himself being any more or less than the countless people in the world. Extremely well put!
I could listen to him talk all day. What a great actor. Ham from V!
You can't get a better bad guy than Michael, that appearance, that voice. He's very much underated.
it's hard to watch this video because all I picture is splinter cell throughout the entire time
I'm still pretty fired up around them replacing him in Splinter cell. :(
+TheFlash Stickman yea splinter cell would still be a top seller if it was Sam fisher still involved
A new rumor has them putting him back in the sequel to Blacklist!
Source?

Ironside is the only man that can go one on one with Arnold.
Rob B Agree.
Or Chuck Norris, he was in the winds of change episode
However, Richter won't see Arnie at the party🤣
He is easily one of the best Sci-FI actors out there. Not to mention his amazing voice acting in Splinter Cell.
Michael Ironside is the best ! I will always love him 💖
Micheal Ironside is a legend!!
His voice is like melting butter on a pan
The man is a legend!
I just really love this guy, I really wish he got more credit, he's got such great ideas and he's so humble
One of my favourite actors :)

Him smiling while shooting Arnold's hologram was also great. Such a good, over-the-top performance.
He's was extremely intimidating see him in scanners or watchers , or visiting hours
Great interview. Kudos to the interviewer for actually listening to what he's saying. I love interviews that feel like a conversation between two friends.
Okay, add one more actor on my list of people who I'd love to shake the hand of someday if I ever meet them.
both an amazing actor, and a great inspiration.
What a brilliant actor! And so very underrated!❤️❤️love him!
He's the man! Been a fan of his from 84-85 when I first saw V the final battle!
countroshculla he was really good in V:TFB his character Ham Tyler stole the show.

Fantastic Actor !! Starship Troopers and V my favs of his.
Very underrated baddie who is uncannily similar to Jack Nicholson.
Other than them both being bald, I don't see it. Ironside is a better actor, for one thing.
His voice, I absolutely miss his voice... wanted him to be in blacklist...
This video deserves more views than it has. Michael Ironside is still a relatively unknown actor, extremely underrated. He deserves more recognition. Also, I loved to see him in Command and Conquer 3.
Love this guy. Been a fave of mine since Ham Tyler. I always thought he would have been an awesome Wolverine.
yes he is.i wish someone would put him in a starring role,he deserves it soo bad!!!!!
Micheal is such an under rated actor and how much he has contributed to movies
“Figuring things out for yourself is the only freedom anyone really has. Use that freedom. Make up your own mind.”
He was great in Extreme Prejudice along with Nick Nolte, Powers Booth, Rip Torn!!!
Darkseid working in the ER. God helps us all 0:19

He reminds me of my dad, very communicative, can make a person feel the value of things and knows exactly what to say to make you laugh and think.
Hes a fantastic actor, have enjoyed all the films hes been in. God bless him and his wife from Nottingham UK.
"I'm gonna live- BUT I'M FAT"
The facial transition is so perfect, the guy doesn't ever need to act, his own persona is gold; what a personality X')

He will always be the best Darkseid and Sam Fisher. Though he did an amazing job as Batman in a Dark Knight Returns episode of BTAS.
One of my favorite actors.
So awesome. I'm watching Terminator Salvation, and I recognized him as Ultra Magnus in Transformers Prime.
I recently got to meet him this year at a convention and got pictures with him. A nice guy.
