Brennan being homeschooled and starting college at 14... That makes SO MUCH SENSE.
yeah, this honestly answers a LOT of questions
I was thinking wow that's early and then I remembered I started College at 15, duel enrollment but still
Yeah I took my first college class at 14 too. It was just a class or two per semester for a few years before going full time. I feel like what..between 20-50% of homeschooled kids do this? It always seemed like a lot to me
Homeschooled here and yeah I started college at 14 too. I went for architecture over philosophy though.
@@gofriskyourself-truepacife6025 Same lmaooo
Every time I hear a new piece of Brennan lore everything starts to make more sense.
True, true.
But also less somehow?
@@jpratt8676 I definitely have way more questions then I did before
@@wolfwise1135More questions? Sounds like philosophy, baby! /j
Brennan being a 14 year old philosophy major makes all the sense in the world
And being home schooled explains some of his lack of awareness on social cues when he is being petty and argumentative.
@@mr2922 Argumentative sure, pedantic even, petty does not fit the bill
@@TaberIV Ehhh, he's a little petty let's be real. He loves to hide it in the facade of comedy, but sometimes he truly holds grudges.
@@TaberIV He states often that he wants to win at any cost.
Just want to share this. JESUS CHRIST died for you in a cross for our sins. 3 days after his death he resurrected and was, is, and will be The TRUE LIVING GOD. In a prayer repent from your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and also ask for the HOLY SPIRIT to come into you in that same prayer as well. Have FAITH in Christ. You could come to Jesus Christ as you are, but once you accept Him, you have to become new, change, and be born again, and turn away from your wicked ways. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. God Bless You.
You know that "final puzzle piece" feeling? Just got that learning BLeeM was a 14yo philosophy major.
"BLeeM" really confused me until I realized the alternative might signify a completely different and political entity.
@@kedabro1957yea wouldn’t want to get mixed up with the Bureau of Land Managment
Yeah, I get why they do it, but BLeeM will never not be funny to me
At first I thought Brennan was referring to himself as "we" I and I was like...yeah that tracks.
Royal we
Sounds like he's talking about him and his brother
Omg me too I had to come here to check I wasn’t the only one .. but yeah I was about to be like what do we call your alters tho
New pronoun unlocked
@canary_inthecoalmine For two seconds I was like "when did brennen come out with DID? I mean it wouldn't surprise me but still-"
i was so absorbed in brennans story that i didn’t fully process that HANK GREEN was interviewing him
Suddenly the way he talks makes perfect sense
Oh I KNEW this man had to be homeschooled.
One of us, or can you just clock us? ;)
@@mmybickers I mean it's pretty easy to suss out our own, homeschooling gives you a lot of time to reflect since you never get to leave the school. 😂
I started taking College courses the same time I started Highschool. Strange enough, I did better at my College courses, because I got to choose what courses I wanted to take, and it was on my own schedule. I barely passed Highschool, but was in the Top of my class in my College Courses.
Hank and Brennan?! This, I must watch. Also, this explains *so much.*
Make sure to check out Mentopolis if you haven’t, a D20 campaign where Brennan DMs Hank! Hank also has a standup special coming out on Dropout soon 😊
Nothing makes more sense than this.
This explains so much about the man, the myth, the legend-Brennan Lee Mulligan
BLM
Brennan's life makes complete sense for Brennan but also completely sounds like one of Brennan's bits
I can't believe it! Two of my favorite people in the same room together.
@tommymayfield814 wait, you know about Hank being on Dimension 20 for a season, right? He was great.
I love how concerned Hank is with all this.
I can't imagine Hank and John going to college together on their bikes.
What must Brennan's brother be like?
This pretty much ties it all together for me
IT ALL MAKES SO MUCH SENSE
Oh my goodness lol it all makes so much sense! I always vibed with Brennan so much of course he was a fellow homeschooler
I have never been so proud of being home schooled... Rock on man!
Brennan speedrunning school is so on brand
Brennan is literally the smartest guy I know, so that makes perfect sense to me 😃
I was dual enrolled as well. The college classes were frequently easier than high school classes. Better teacher, better materials, and a lot more classes that I specifically wanted to take.
The whole comment section just having moment of clarity about brennan after watching this video, like now it's all make sense 😅
This makes the time I nearly left home at 16 to go to college and complete my last two years of high school and first two years of college at the same time feel really tame. 😂
As a graduated homeschooler with a degree - this is absolutely what it was like for me and my friends 😂
My 14-year-old worked to take his GED this past year before we found out you had to be 16 before you could take the test. His interest is in engineering. We pivoted and now he's still studying, but he's added the SAT study course.
Hank is loving this, both of them are to be fair
Homeschooled. Became a D&D Dungeonmaster.
Not being rude, but this intrinsically checks out.
This is an incredibly common path for homeschoolers. People don't seem to be aware that you can take community college classes before you have a GED
I am so used to Brennan’s flawless acting and sarcasm that taking this seriously actually took mental effort 😅 But WOW, 14 years old? Sounds EXACTLY like Brennan lol
Anyone else feeling a deep pain watching someone raised in a better situation go on to live the dreams you had as a young child? No? Just me?
My oldest was 13yo when they did the same thing at SUNY Genesee CC. They finish high school at 15, stayed on til 16, accepted into uni in Austin just when they turned 17, graduated at 20 during the pandemic & now DMs for her dad & his friends.
This honestly checks out for him
The first two years of college are no more difficult than my freshman and sophomore years of high school. Go as early as you can if education is your thing
EVERYTHING MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE!
This certified child prodigy became an improv comedian
I can’t believe how naturally Hank said “the math isn’t mathing” as if he was a 22 year old girl on tiktok 😭
Riding your bikes to class may just be the most undergraduate boy thing I’ve ever heard.
Went to college when I was 15 due to health issues with my highschool. Kinda makes me feel good I wasn't the only one.
New Brennan lore unlocked
Seeing more and more celebrities/influencers etc that talk about being homeschooled makes me so happy. Growing up so many people were so weird about me being homeschooled. I didnt talk to my dad's side of the family for a long time because one of my uncles cornered me at a cousins birthday party and started asking me what would have been questions on like final exams verbally and berating me for being so uncomfortable being challenged in this way that i wasn't answering how he wanted me to to believe that I was a smart person.
Ohh so that's why he's so creative.
Brennen going to college at 14 as a philosophy major makes perfect sense
This is slightly more common. Dual enrollment is a thing, where you use your highschool federal funding to take college courses at no cost to you. In the county I grew up in, you can start half-time in the 2nd semester or 9th grade (i.e. I was 14 when I did). By 10th grade, you can be full-time, and by then I was only taking college courses instead of taking any highschool courses.
Depending on the state, it's easy for honeschoolers to get into Dual Enrollment earlier than standard HS students. Florida only requires 2 high school level courses, with no way of verifying if they're actually HS level. If the parent says so, the kid can take 6 credits starting 8th/9th grade then pop up to 12 credits, then full time stopping at AA limit of credits. Probably when he needed the GED by, if NY is similar.
Source: used to manage DE at a state college.
"This is going to sound really weird..."
*proceeds to explain the most Brennan Thing he could possibly have said*
My home schooled son started dual enrollment with a local college at 12. At the time, he scored higher on the ACT than 90% of high school graduates.
Its common for homeschoolers to start college this young.
My son inlaw did.
My son started trade school very young and will have a welding and blacksmithing certificate this year at 17.
"This is going to sound really weird" then proceeds to say the only thing that would make sense for Brennan
I did 1 semester at SUNY Ulster. I had no idea Brennan went there!
“What would you like for us to tell your family?”
The man is dangerously intelligent
It’s all coming together
I had never seen/met someone who had been homeschooled that wasn’t socially awkward, so I didn’t peg him as a homeschooler, but this actually makes sense in other ways 😂 Very cool though and kudos to him!
Ha Brennan and I did the same thing! Started homeschooling in 3rd grade, started taking college courses around 14 before going to Stanford at 18... He has a much cooler job than me though 😅
home schooled 14 y/o philosophy major, that explains a lot.
I love that no one in the comments is shocked. It's all 'ohhhh, ok that adds up' 😂
I didn’t KNOW Brennan was a 14 year old philosophy major, but i at the same time somehow knew Brennan was a 14 year old Philosophy major
Okay, so this actually explains all of the major questions I had about Brennan. Lmao.
This explains so much.
He's sheldon with more emotions 😂
He turned out really well
Holy fuck i no longer feel insecure about not being as well rounded as brennan.
Yeah I was kinda in a similar boat. I was partially homeschooled starting 4th grade (though just on a few subjects), started college classes at 12 (that is, spring of 7th grade, didn’t return for 8th grade) and got associates degree 1 at 16, it only took so long because I was taking a variety of classes to cover high school grad requirements that weren’t degree requirements. I did actually start high school but only in the spring of junior year as I was finishing up the AS. I then continued taking dual enrollment classes to get the rest of the grad requirements (alongside some high school classes but only some) and got an AA in gen ed in my senior year.
Ohhhh, so he's that kind of genius x3
Suddenly things are making a lot more sense....
Brennan literally majored in “I am 14 and this is deep”
Omg Brennan, me too! I did all my HS credits at a community college so I graduated HS with my AA. I think I took two actual HS courses when I was 12-13 (for my language requirement).
I find it hilarious that is basically a reflection of my own life and personality, yet we end up being opposites in ideologies and majors it would seem. I was a 14 year old accounting major
Brennan studied bird facts for two years waiting to be eligible to take his GED.
Well that explains so, so much.
This explains SO MUCH.
The number of college kids also in pj pants... they fit in fine.
I started at 16 and people regularly thought I was an average college kids.
I also started college at 14. Finished my AA when I turned 18. Then dropped out a few years after I transferred to university. LOL
14 year old college students and philosophy majors kinda balances each other out in a strange way
This surprises me zero, he's so smart.
We would ride our bicycles to college😂😂
Someone I went to school with stopped coming to school entirely during freshman year because they went to college instead
I actually had a similar thing, just started a bit later (age 16). It was strange being so much younger than everyone in my classes, especially since I tested out of a lot of the early math classes so I was around 19 and 20 year olds at age 16.
He really was a homeschooled kid. I was right. He has that formerly-homeschooled kid energy.
This explains so much about how he is so smart when it comes to DND but has no idea how the real world works
Yeah, I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. We can all recognize each other. Before I’d heard him say it ages ago, I knew. We’re like vault dwellers.
No one has ever asked to see my diploma.
I work as a geologist in the oilfield.
I don't have a diploma.
For a second, before he brought up his brother, I thought he was speaking in a weird, venom-like third person.
He just like me for real.
"I was like ohh fuck how he do it" then he said he was a philosophy major and it was just an OHHHHH kinda moment
Also a good example of why we can't have good narratives anymore, because people get to live in an echo chamber where the world is not different from your expectations.
Yeah it all lines up
This is common in the homeschool community.
I was homeschooled and I finished highschool at 16.
I started college when I was 15
Yah, that fits 😆
the craziest thing is that this isn’t even a bit
That all explains so much
If I didn't have depression and such, this would've been my dream.
Yup checks out
… Y’know what, that makes sense actually.
this does explain why Lee is his first last name
I knew a girl that dropped out of high school at 16 got her GED and was a College junior when I met her at 19, high school has alot of wasted time
I was a 16 year old college student. Also homeschooled 😂
At 10-17 you could take college courses, but you couldn't accumulate them into anything, like a degree. I took lots of courses during the summer when i was 10 to 14, one specific course i took along with my uncle who was taking it for his degree, he was the one who drove me there for class, i ended up getting the 2nd highest grade in that particular class.
14 year old red headed philosophy majors going to college classes sounds hilarious and also explains so much
