Forget the criticism and the knockers. Your setup is complex for a mobile rig but hats off to you and it was interesting and exhausting watching you set it all up! Bet it looks great at gigs and you definately earn your money! Well done!
I think the only people who say there are too many lights. Are DJs I dont think you have too many lights, i personally think if they were arranged slightly better then it would look the dogs danglys. I love the star cloth to hide all the cables. Very nice setup and definitely some inspiration for me to take to the drawing board
If I ever hired a DJ and they sat down, I would fire them. I have been DJing for almost 15 years and the only event I have ever sat down at is a March of Dimes 24 hour walk to fight cancer.
Weighing in - I like the setup. I never thought to use a scrim to hide the cords - I have my truss pre-wired and labeled for easy setup. I have many lights on my truss - 2 scanners, 2 moving heads, 4 min lasers, a color palette, 4 special effects and a gobo. Overkill, perhaps.. but as you said, they don't even remotely run at the same time
those cables still needed tidying up and also those speakers need raising so the woofer is about adult head height and the tweeter is just about their heads
I wish I had a girl who was into it as much as I am. Every move I make, every dream I have , every time I want to buy a new light etc., the wife cries the blues! dude, you are so fortunate.
only fault I could find is that the top speakers aren't quite high enough... just that the high frequencies would get absorbed in people right at the front. I usually set speakers at at least head height, if not more depending on the size of the crowd. Otherwise than that, lovely setup :) love the backdrop from the truss. nice one
Thanks for sharing your video. I personally also think the amount of lights you have used here is ridiculous. Overkill to the extreme. But I wish you all the best. Thanks.
really much stuf in here, its packed till there is no space left, but exactly it still looks nice and i definely would keep the scanner and the led pars but maybe replace the 6 lasers for 2 rgb laser. and i recommend ilda because it just got endless more options than dmx. how long did it thake to set this all up.
@forestdisco man one day ima be a dj im starting to look around this has inspired me to go forth but i feel you there ill kepp the price down lol i dont want you to have money withdrawals the way u set it all up was amazing i like the tarp to cover up tye wires if i could hire you i would at my wedding the dj sicked so bad didnt play any of oir songs didnt have karaoke or nothing but this would be alot better lol
thats a lot of kit!.. do you always use that much lighting? i could imagine it would look fairly over crowded if they were all on at once.. but nice kit anyhow!
That's perfect for a party salon only it it's where they contract you to stay other wise use less lights and it would look messy it you put them all at once
100% chaos. Try this: 1 good RGB laser in the middle 1 strobo in the middle 4 bright scanners 4 LED PARs And most important - use, really use DMX for controll it. Spend few hours to program the lights and your clients will be 2x more satisfied ;)
Look i have a centerprice or tritec and the 3 mirrors can be handled separately my question is how can i make to move to the mucica shopping mirrors with consla in audioritmico mode. it is understood
agree with not siting down, but with the lights at lest they can change the lighting for different songs which is good and there is two people, so one on lighting one on sound. if they where both doing sound it would be like the saying ( two many cooks spoil the sup ) and anyone know what light truss they are using
Without haze lighting effects will be useless Better off using 4 par cans and one hemisphere 5 by chauvet in the middle. Been djing since the 80s I rather spend more money on better sound systems than lightings for mobile gigs and also learn how to read the crowd and also beat matching is a plus
edwin de dios i've only been djing a few years, and I agree with you. better sound equipment, reading the crowd, and beat matching has gotten me a lot of gigs. i'm just sorta getting into lighting.
just make it simple i use 4 LED moving heads and color wash and a really good sound system. the rest read the crowd music programming and learn basic skills of a dj beatmatching. it creates good vibe and energy to the dance floor
Can you help me what lights to get cuz I'm going to be a dj also what laptop should I use? Mac or windows for djing and the lights have to be really bright
je pense que la demoiselle s'occupe des light et son mec du son ... mais il on un peut abusé sur les laser lol je suis fan pourtan des effet laser mais trop de laser tue le laser 3 RGB 500 aurrais suffi a mon sens
the whole time i was wondering when will that plastic "truss" collapse ? I also agree with the rest, to many effects, 8x par (56, 64 whatever fits your needs) and 2 scanner gives a better basic. And get some fog to see the light beams instead of aiming it at the ceiling lol :P
not offense but i think thats too much and that make it look messy. I only use 6 par cans, laser, 1 white strob and 2 575W moving heads, thats enought.
Awesome! Some people have said... "too many lights"... you can never have too many lights. Setup time is the concern (for me, as I'm a 1 man operation). I bring 12 lights myself. The audience's perception of the lights is very very minimal... they just know they are visually stimulated and will have a good time. Yes, of course it is better to have programmed lights for different "scenes" but ultimately its a small difference to the audience. Take my word for it... I've been a NYC "clubbie" for 30 years and a DJ for 15 years.
You can definitely have too many lights on a set-up.. Less is more.. Having fewer lighting fixtures that can do a lot is much better than an overkill lighting set-up that can start to look tacky and silly.. It looks much, much more professional to have fewer lights, spaced out..
FormatDub The crowd doesn't care about a light bar looking tacky/silly. The crowd doesn't care what controller you're using, The crowd doesn't care about what name brand subs you have. The crowd only cares about the end result.... the outrageous lightshow and your song choice and sound (to an extent). The only person who will care about your equipment is another nosy DJ who happens to be at the event.... and you can tell him to kick rocks.
DJ Tony Vito your awesome that is exactly what i think too bigger is better every time no one in the crowd cares about anything but how much fun there having thats it. thank you for being kool.
Always welcome Eric. I've been going to disco's, and clubs since the early '70's... nobody cares what kind of equipment or what kind of lights are being used. They only care about the fun.
I am pretty saddened by all those people that say it is too much or whatever.. At the end of the day by having loads of lights on a truss, it gives you variation. After all, you don't have to turn them all on at once, but use different effect to provide a show or set a mood depending on what music you play. I just hope you get paid a decent wedge to cover your investment. It seems that many people are just not fussed if you turn up with 50 lights or 4, as long as you are cheap!
i like the trus bar with the lights, yh there is slightly bit to much but each to there own, the one thing that i dont like is too many djs use just full range tops on tripods n thats it, lol two 12s or 15s on stands dont look that impressive, unless ya doing a kids party lol, get some bins on the bottoms and that set up would look banging :)
this is kind of absurd. having all that jazz in one place is pretty poor lighting design. I would split them up, get a second truss and set it up somewhere else. Regardless, great equipment. Seems you guys know what your doing!
when your to busy playing with all your lights, your forgetting the most important thing... "MUSIC" Less is more. Let's try focusing on the music instead of turning lights on and off even with dmx.
Just when you think they are done, more gets crammed onto the rig. It's just overkill. The fact it takes two of them to complete installation speaks volumes. The speakers are way too low and the cabling is dismal.
"Aiming the lights" is called focusing. A quick "bench focus" of all your lighting fixtures should be done prior to you cranking the lifts into a locked position. Also build a few cable looms. It will help speed up the load-in and setup of the entire lighting package and will most certainly help organize the load-outs and tear down. That rats nest of cables you hide behind the crappy backdrop is ridiculous.
At the end of the day, It looks very tacky. People will not want to blinded by all those lights in a small hall. If your in Wembley Stadium; Yeah go for it.. You'd have to charge hundreds at each gig to make a profit with all those lights aswell. Un-practical...
R U really dj'ing sitting down? No smoke, just skip the lasers. Were are the subs? Raise the speakers, lights and booth if you're not playing for midgets ;-)
Soy de Mexico........excelente equipo....y muy facil de armar......felicidades !!!!!
Very nice setup and definitely some inspiration for me to take to the drawing board
it's all perfect… until the moment they sit down. as a dj NEVER sit down! it kills the vibee,
agreed
If I ever hired a DJ and they sat down, I would fire them. I have been DJing for almost 15 years and the only event I have ever sat down at is a March of Dimes 24 hour walk to fight cancer.
Travis McGuire well you can sit down unless you programed the music from the dmx. Just to eat something or take a break
* tweeter just over their heads
I wish I had a girl who was into it as much as I am. Every move I make, every dream I have , every time I want to buy a new light etc., the wife cries the blues! dude, you are so fortunate.
Did I miss the Hazer ??? What is light without at least a tiny bit of fog?
only fault I could find is that the top speakers aren't quite high enough... just that the high frequencies would get absorbed in people right at the front. I usually set speakers at at least head height, if not more depending on the size of the crowd. Otherwise than that, lovely setup :) love the backdrop from the truss. nice one

There is a saying: "Less is more".
***** yes a saying
+Dustin Fancher In this particular case "less is a lot more !"
That is not what it comes to with lighting
Dustin Fancher
Dustin Fancher
Love the setup and the west songs
Very impressed - well organised.
Muy buen equipo de sonido, saludos desde México...!!!
Nice disco curtains DJ boy!
really much stuf in here, its packed till there is no space left, but exactly it still looks nice and i definely would keep the scanner and the led pars but maybe replace the 6 lasers for 2 rgb laser. and i recommend ilda because it just got endless more options than dmx.

Parabéns para o casal!
Belo trabalho!

that is so kool that your girl friend your wife i dont know who she is but shes got your back good job
to have better sound rise the speakers to about head height which make more surround sound
thats a lot of kit!.. do you always use that much lighting? i could imagine it would look fairly over crowded if they were all on at once.. but nice kit anyhow!
do you have the link for the second song that you used for this vid, i really liked it!
What brackets are you using to mount to the top of the truss? Also what diameter is that truss
Very nice, but why such a low booth?
omg to mutch lights.... crazy
Looks ok.... Too many lazers.
yeah ikr 😂
If you buy a decent smoke machine your setup will look epic
That's perfect for a party salon only it it's where they contract you to stay other wise use less lights and it would look messy it you put them all at once
Ja ja echaron las luces por la ventana!
looks sweet how much did that all cost i bet it took forever to set up
100% chaos.
Try this:
1 good RGB laser in the middle
1 strobo in the middle
4 bright scanners
4 LED PARs
And most important - use, really use DMX for controll it. Spend few hours to program the lights and your clients will be 2x more satisfied ;)
Cool lights n all. Just wondering though... You guys DJ sitting down? lol and btw, where's the fog!
Look i have a centerprice or tritec and the 3 mirrors can be handled separately my question is how can i make to move to the mucica shopping mirrors with consla in audioritmico mode. it is understood
cut it to this. one laser 4 par cans 2 scans and the revo centre effect.
strobe is cool. were is the hazer?
agree with not siting down, but with the lights at lest they can change the lighting for different songs which is good and there is two people, so one on lighting one on sound. if they where both doing sound it would be like the saying ( two many cooks spoil the sup )
and anyone know what light truss they are using
I'm pretty sure they use a citronic tri truss, a&be ing very overloaded!!
Albeit*
you have all that and no smoke or haze machine for the lazers?
I like the song
nice set up
A little bit of an overkill. Sorry to sound negative. Too many lights for a small venue. Also you need a hazer to bring out the lighting.
Do you run all of those lights off of one power outlet or one plug?
Hi what is the light called under the laser uk? Thx
what lighting stand is that? try and reply as quick as u can
Thanks!
Amazing light show, loving it, just one question, where do you get all of your gear from because I'm a D.J my self?
Rockwarehouse.co.uk
Is good
Without haze lighting effects will be useless

You sure like your lasers!!
Uy , bien practico. Me gusta.

La demoiselle à l'air plus calée... Bizz
je pense que la demoiselle s'occupe des light et son mec du son ... mais il on un peut abusé sur les laser lol je suis fan pourtan des effet laser mais trop de laser tue le laser 3 RGB 500 aurrais suffi a mon sens
Nice
hey what hind of Lighting Truss is that you have ?

the whole time i was wondering when will that plastic "truss" collapse ? I also agree with the rest, to many effects, 8x par (56, 64 whatever fits your needs) and 2 scanner gives a better basic. And get some fog to see the light beams instead of aiming it at the ceiling lol :P

Don't tell me ur using lasers without fog!
some places will not allow any smoke at all
then dont play those places..you dont need that kind of negativity in your life.
I LOVE IT WEN THE LADIES GET INVOLVED WITH THE TECH SIDE OF DJn

what gear do you used. i recognized the scorpion scanner i think and the led pars , but what are the other effect
I would like a fit roadie like her to help me set my rig up!! Great bod and a hard worker!! Win Win!!
hey hola cuanto tienes invertido en todo eso eeeeeeee
Well done!
Probably an led-projector, fog machine and lasers would do for lighting. And still... nobody turned up to the party, hehe.
i like the trus bar with the lights, yh there is slightly bit to much but each to there own, the one thing that i dont like is too many djs use just full range tops on tripods n thats it, lol two 12s or 15s on stands dont look that impressive, unless ya doing a kids party lol, get some bins on the bottoms and that set up would look banging :)
The only bad thing putting your dj lights in the floor is kids would break I recently saw this at a party

too much lights :s
all that, and no actual display....doh

Yuck prosound rubish!
Prosound is a great brand why don't u try making ur own dj lights
they are better than skytec but they are nothing like acme or martin.
U need a smoke machine
At the end of the day, It looks very tacky. People will not want to blinded by all those lights in a small hall. If your in Wembley Stadium; Yeah go for it.. You'd have to charge hundreds at each gig to make a profit with all those lights aswell. Un-practical...
