Those awkward moments made me remember the time today where I I was talking to someone who looks like Riley from Inside Out. Then she told me her name was Riley, and noted it out to her; caused the whole class to laugh. Brandeis High is such a strange place.
I was laughing pretty much throughout the entire thing. You did such an amazing job when I watched the first chapter. I loved it so much and I’m really happy that you finally posted the second chapter. I’m not saying that I’m happy you finally posted it in a rude way because I know doing stuff like this takes time. Thank you for all the hard work you put in because I really enjoyed this episode.
I know that it happened due to the classic "my friends are my power" cliche, but there's a reason why it works every time. Your friends will be there for you. Even in your most trying times. 🙂 Glad to hear you're invested! There will definitely be more chapters in the future as well as other things.
Glad to hear you are looking forward to the future of this series! 🙂 There will definitely be more to see from this project among other things that I plan on creating so I hope you stick around.
Awesome job with this chapter. This was definitely worth the wait. Congrats Sona to sticking up for yourself against Vinky. Yo! I gotta admit, I did not expect to have my poster featured in this vid. I feel honored, thanks Clay. (10:47)
Ayo?! Didn’t expect that my fanart thingy to appear at 11:40! Apart from that, I loved this chapter! From watching the entirety of it, I can see that it does in fact resolve around the problem of how to strengthen your own resolve against one who would want to bring you nothing but negativity or something of that matter. I do also find it very wholesome to see Dean and Alica helping Sona to help stand up against Vinky, so amazing! Great job!
Of course, I had seen you working on most of this during the streams. But seeing it in it’s finished form is so cool! It turned out great! I’m so glad to be part of your community, Clay!
Thank you Mikey! I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed this and that you are a loyal member of our community. Loyal enough to still support me on Patreon despite everything. lol 😂 I hope you look forward to what I have planned not only for TLOAI, but for other content as well!
Man, I’m days late! I’m excited for where the story will go on next! Well done, I say! There may be some things that I can do to improve my own quality myself, but I’m excited for what the future will provide entirely.
There will always be room for improvement, but I'm glad to hear that you're excited to see where the story's going! We've got a lot of things planned. That is all I can say... 👀
I haven't seen much of the work-in-progress streams of Ch.2, and I wanted to surprise myself to see the complete animation. I would say that I love how it turned out in the end, and I am proud of you for accomplishing it. As a long-time fan who have watched both versions of Ch.1 before, it is refreshing to see how the plot is starting to develop and I am pleased of the progression. Even if it is small, it still counts as progress. Great work, my friend, and go take your deserved break. You earned it for a job well done!
Hi. I followed the first episode with interest and now I've also watched the second one with pleasure. I apologize in advance for my not perfect English, but I am not a native speaker and I am using a translator. The animations are accurate and well done, not to mention the intelligent remix of the characters' voices to ensure that certain words have coherence (like for example Dean's name). However, pay attention to an important detail: time dilation. I'll start by saying that I don't want to invest myself with any skills in the field of animation, mine is advice from the eyes of those who look at the final result. I advise you to keep the "rhythm" of things happening on the screen stable. I'll give an example to help you understand what I'm saying. In the scene in which Dean arrives and the girl with pink hair (forgive me, I don't remember the name. Names never stick in my mind) tells him to sit on the bench, 18 seconds pass between the moment in which the boy asks to be allowed to join the group and the moment in which Sona answers "yes". At that moment time "expands" too much. The same thing happens at other times too. Stares or pauses that last too long. Another tip: to keep the "rhythm" stable, let the characters who aren't in the frame speak too. Also in the second scene, there is a moment in which the pink-haired girl "breaks the rhythm" of the narrative simply by looking at the two protagonists sitting in front of her. Nothing else happens for several seconds and the rhythm breaks. The dialogue has unique colors for the characters, so while the pink-haired girl is acting the voices of others can be heard without creating confusion about who is saying what. I hope I haven't come across as pedantic and, on the contrary, that I have given some good advice that can be used to improve a project that has the potential to become beautiful indeed. Keep it up!
Before this went live and even when I watched it after it went live with some community members and friends, the rhythm (or timing which is the proper term) was the main issue that was mentioned. Some said that "shots hang around for a little longer than they should." If you could believe it, the original runtime for this was around 13 minutes and 40, seconds. I then shaved off 10 seconds due to me making the necessary cuts to make the timing of things feel better. But it still sounds like there needed to be more in that regard. Your feedback is appreciated though so don't worry! I always welcome constructive criticism as long as people are being civil about it. Glad to hear that despite the slight issue with timing, you still enjoyed this! Hope you look forward to what else I have in store, whether it's related to TLOAI or not. :)
@@ClayEntertainment First of all, thank you for responding to such a long comment that might seem "whiny". Obviously my intention was to give feedback so that the next video can be experienced in its best form. I love following creatives who are constantly improving themselves, so I will follow every one of your next publications (at least as far as this series is concerned). If I may advise you, think of your scenes as if they were experienced by you and your friends. If a friend of yours takes 30 seconds to answer your question it seems strange, right? That's the "alarm bell" that tells you that the scene has a "rhythm" problem. I hope to see a next episode even more exciting than the first the second and with a rhythm more stable.
What happened to your voice recorded dialogue like in the first episode? I remember there was some confusion, but I never minded that at all. I remembered asking if there was a pattern in the dialogue, but I deleted that reply long ago. I felt uneasy with such a question… Regardless, I do look forward to your future endeavors. Not very many Splatoon animations focus on world-building. Others took drastic turns that never fit Splatoon’s theme and tone at all. I’m grateful this series isn’t that, but even if it does take an edgy turn, I’d still recommend your content.
A lot of people didn't like how the recorded lines sounded, so I chose not to do to this time. I would, however, want to potentially hire some voice actors for this series in the future. I know the Inkling sounds are "iconic," but fully-voiced would be much easier to animate. You are also the first person to acknowledge the true meaning behind this series! I wanted to make this series more grounded. More down-to-earth. (In anime genre terms, more slice-of-life). I wanted this series to feel like it could take place in the Splatoon world. That's why there are intentional references to the in-universe bands (Squid Squad, Chirpy Chips) and as well some other things. Not an inherent spoiler, but things do get a little more serious. Not ever "edgy." Just serious. Also, never be afraid to ask questions! I honestly live for that kind of stuff! Being able to interact with you all is one of the reasons why I make things like this in the first place. 🙂 I am ecstatic to hear that you loved this chapter and are looking forward to what's in store! I obviously will be making more chapters and things related to this, but I have plans for other things as well. Thank you once again for your comment! It really made my day. 😄
Nicely done with this one. Although you may have add my artwork into your video and not put my username into it, why? (10:48) P.S You forgot a fanart from SleepyGenesisChan212
Whoops! I didn't even notice that. Apologies for the inconvenience! I must have mislabeled the image file when editing. To make up for that, I provided a link in the description with the correction and a community post addressing it. As for the fan art by SleepyGenesisChan, I wasn't aware of theirs existing. A lot of the images that are shown here have been collected over the years and it is virtually impossible for me to have every single one that has been made. As stated in the credits, if anyone has made fan art, I would be more than happy to showcase it in the future as long as you send them to me over on Twitter/X or Instagram/Threads (@ClayEntertain). That way, I can more easily collect them all and make sure they are properly labeled next time. Again, sorry for the trouble. 🙇

Can I admit that Alicia has hands-down the best and most adorable facial expressions I’ve ever seen on an Inkling? :D
Alicia is our residental "Queen of Facial Expressions."
She's one of the most fun characters to animate, so I'm happy to hear that it's showing! 😁
