Orion - a brief tour

  • Orion is a classic constellation. From ancient egypt to the ancient greeks to the vikings - Orion has been both a point of reference and of myth.
When you next look up at the night sky in autumn and winter, see if you cannot find Orion - and try and grasp what beuty and wonders you are really looking at. It is so much more than tiny spekcs of twinkling lights. In this video I'm trying to give a brief description of some of what you would be looking at. It is my hope that it will spark some interrest.
The night sky is so much more interresting when you know something about what you're looking at.

When my mother was dying I used to look up and see theses three stars. I don't know anything about the sky but they were there night after night. It was very evocative and they will always remind me of her. Rest in peace Mam.

I first saw this video when I was 7 years old, watching it again after so many years floods my mind with memories of how much I wanted to study every star in in the sky back then. It honestly, makes me regret about working in this crazily overated society, I'm 19 now and watching this video suddenly reignited my passion for looking up in a dark void and seeing light; Especially, in the hemisphere where Orion lies.
Thanks Michael for making this video possible.

There is a reason Orion is the most famous of all constellations. It is just so identifiable, and has so much to offer especially to beginners like me. Two of the brightest stars in the sky and two of the most amazing nebula all of which are so easy to find. Plus the belt points to Pleiades and Sirius, both of which are amazing in them self but are also good starting points to find other DSO's. So essentially Orion becomes a road map for newbies like me.

You are more than welcome to translate the video into any language you wish. I hold no copyright claims to this - it was always meant as an educational video - and as such should be spread as much as possible. If translating it helps educate a few more, that's even better. Dark, heavy clouds came up and clashed against each other. The atmosphere parted and rolled back; then we could look up through the open space in Orion, whence came the voice of God. The Holy City will come down through that open space. I saw that the powers of earth are now being shaken and that events come in order. War, and rumors of war, sword, famine, and pestilence are first to shake the powers of earth, then the voice of God will shake the sun, moon, and stars, and this earth also. I saw that the shaking of the powers in Europe is not, as some teach, the shaking of the powers of heaven, but it is the shaking of the angry nations. EW 41.2

In greek mythology Orion was a gigantic, supernaturally strong hunter of ancient times. One myth recounts Gaia's rage at Orion, who dared to say that he would kill every animal on the planet. The angry goddess tried to dispatch Orion with a scorpion. This is given as the reason that the constellations of Scorpius and Orion are never in the sky at the same time. However, Ophiuchus, the Serpent Bearer, revived Orion with an antidote. This is said to be the reason that the constellation of Ophiuchus stands midway between the Scorpion and the Hunter in the sky.

Billy Bob John , Orion, the gigantic, supernaturally strong hunter, is actually Nimrod.
Nimrod was a mighty hunter, but he opposed God. Scholars surmise that he had a very violent, untimely death, probably at the hands of assassins.
As a result of his hunting prowess and enigmatic leadership in the Post Flood world, Nimrod, and eventually his mother were deified.
Pagans worshipped the Mother and Child long before the Catholic Church stole the concept from them and made it part of their dogma, at the Council at Nicea, in the 3rd century.
The worship of the Catholic Madonna and Child is not the worship of Mary and baby Jesus, as some have been mistakenly led to think.
Madonna and Child cult worship is actually worship of Nimrod and his Mother.
From Babylon (where Nimrod lived and died), Mother and Child cult worship spread globally (Egypt, China, etc)
The mighty hunter, Orion, is also Nimrod...

For years now when my 25 year old son and I try to discuss the stars and the vastness of the universe we always end up back at the same place; one of says I’m getting a headache! Lol. It’s the only way we can describe the way we feel when we start to really try to comprehend what is going on out there. I don’t know how anyone can think there isn’t a much superior “God” or whatever you want to call it- out there. There’s no way that it all happened by accident. Don’t bother trying to tell me otherwise. You do your thing and I’ll do mine. Wouldn’t it be just wonderful to someday know exactly what else is out there and if there will ever be a time where humans can travel light years away? If we don’t all get to find these things out in the end I will be very disappointed. But, I guess I won’t know it.

Darn this was great and you only made two videos 😂 Thanks for these. Btw, I'm sure others noticed, but at around 8:00, taking up lower left screen in flame nebula - right after horse head - is an amazing pareidolia of human face: eyes closed, teeth visible.

Maybe your parents would enjoy to take a walk or two with you and explain the sky? I learned from my Mother when I was young, it is a treasure for your whole life., Until now when I for example see Orion, I can hear her voice saying:'...and this si betelgeuze, it will soon be a supernova. Look, it is so red... This is Bellatrix, this is Rigel..'' and so on. I love that you searched for orion, and that you like to look at it! Did you see the middle 'star' in the sword under the three stars in the middle? If you look a little bit aside, with the rim of your eye, you see the nebule. It is not a star, it is very well to see. I hope you will have the chance to look at it with a little telescope. Good luck, and enjoy!
