Did Sam learn NOTHING from RedCanary???
Maybe RedCanary's problem was that they took the eyes(??) From the institute instead of just leaving everything there....?
I hope they're not stupid enough to ignore everything they've heard about the place.

So that's what they meant by "Episode 10 is where Alice and Sam go to a _place_ ™"
Jonny's commitment to keeping an even tone at the start is admirable
Gigachad sam filling out paperwork for an "automated" department is so great
Guy is about to accidentally join TMP occult exterminators with his current antics
As soon as I heard the word “dice” I got flashbacks to that episode where a guy plays a game against death and I began to PANIC
I decided to check the episode description when it came out (a few hours before I could listen to it) and thought it was gonna be that statement lol
Actually, the dice are said to be made of bone, just like all the games from the deaths
Same
Fully imagining Sam like 🥺🥺🥺🥺 while he's trying to talk Alice into checking out the ruins with him lmaoo
"would you come to Manchester to dig through ruins with me 👉👈🥺?"
I'm a little ashamed to admit it, but these dice would work so well on me. I'd go full scientist on them and test how much I can influence them. There'd be so many things to consider: what counts as a roll? Is the nature of a roll's result based on the person since everyone has a slightly different idea of what's "good luck" and "bad luck"? Does the luck only affect me or can I spread it to other people by rolling high and then going on a game show to win loads of money for charity? Does it only work if a living thing rolls them or could I set up a prosthetic hand in a controlled environment to perfectly roll the dice so that they always land on double 6s or would the dice punish me from trying to cheat them? Yeah... it's definitely a good thing these aren't real or I'd become an avatar so fast.
...which is something an actual avatar would say...🤔
since i saw stadistics in my university i end fascinated with probabilities like, you could be sure that something really weird, specific or special will happen if you study the variables long enough, the dices could be really addictive
What happens if a add weight to the dice to force them to land on double six?
Infinite improbability dice...
You'd probably die considering how vengeful the dice is😅 I'm not sure it would appreciate your analysis
no tma statement has put quite as much fear in me as trying to fast forward through the ads and coming in right at “statement regarding their entrapment”
Just think where we would be if we just sat down and asked ourselves "why?"
Thats a textbook psych question. Usual answer is 'Because'. Best answer is 'Why not?'
Why not dear friend why not
😂😂😂😂😂
The deadpan delivery of the shoutout at the start made my night 😂
y'know what's fun? nobody ever says no to dice. i've tried it has NOT happened. nobody has said no it's so fun

UA-cam commenter "milfmacron" found dead in their room, case of death unknown.
"They're not random, it all balances out eventually", like, yeah?? My guy, that's exactly what "random" means
Jakob Bernoulli in 1713 discovering the law of large numbers:
I think they meant something like, they’re _guaranteed_ to balance out within a few rolls. Basically, if you roll a 1 and a 2, you’ll _actually_ be more likely to roll something like a 5 and a 6 the next roll. That’s how they were able to actually use them. “Oh, I got a good roll! Time to let some poor loser roll them and risk a bad roll.” And maybe the next person also rolls high, in which case the risk of a bad roll increases further. It’s like the gambler’s fallacy, but without the fallacy part!
@@arcainchaosI was about to point out the gambler's fallacy part, too. It also makes me wonder if you can only get snake eyes if the double sixes have come up reasonably recently. Because the guy mentioned them specifically in the statement.
(Or if the double sixes are bound to come up shortly after snake eyes. Which could be one reason why Gary was so eager to get rid of the dice, maybe having gone through their former owner's Final Roll recently before?)
(Also I am convinced Gary knows and enjoys PbtA as he SHOULD)
I love the ways that Sam is explaining why he's filling out the response forms, they sound fun but I also think he's covering for the supernatural pull it has on him to fill out the rest of the forms.
He's soooooo beholdcore and eyepilled
Sam is absolutely Eye material.
I don't this it has to do anything I think Sam is just obsessed with knowing, he's sort of like late seasons Jon he's very eye like right now
"Compelling" yeah sam sure. SURE.
also side note the shoutout is so me down to the core
The response 1-to-1 paperwork is 100% the way it is so that they know who to send to deal with what, a la taking that Vast touched guy to throw in the Pit.
Also, LMAO, Jon heard him talking about the Institute and immediately found a Statement. Fantastic.
Be the supernatural occurrence you want to see in the world
THEYRE GONNA GO TO A PLACE AND DO A THING
🚨🚨 Mr Bonzo mention!!! 🚨🚨
Joey Bonzo, ladies and gentlemen
I noticed that too!
Now I'm,, worried.

We need a bonzo counter
@@remiolen8825 So far, there have been 58 mentions of the word "Bonzo" with an additional 2 mentions of "Bonzoland" and 1 of "Bonzomania"
It seems they're being led to the institute rather than warned away... intresting
Combine that to the fact that lena try to warn away potencial new employees during job interviews, just to see who really wants to stick around
Another amazing episode!!! 🤩
1. Sam is still working on the Response Department paperwork? Damn, it really must be a helluva stack of pages! Although with those weird, esoteric questions, and without any perceivable time limit to complete it all by, I’d probably be taking my time, too. 😅 (the paperwork questions are giving Nightvale vibes, and I love it! lol)
2. Great statement, and it actually is a legitimate _statement_ this time! Given directly to the Magnus Institute and everything! Yes! It’s nice to have that feeling of familiarity again. ☺️ (Also nice to know that this universe’s Magnus Institute was also still up to shady supernatural studies, but they seem to have focused more on artifacts, rather than just statements. I wonder if the fire at the institute was possibly caused because of something more along the lines of when Leitner’s library was destroyed… too many artifacts in one place at the same time, or whatever?)
3. Those dice are 100% the same ones from that artifact dealer in episode 4, right? The dude had talked a lot about turns of luck, and fortune taking many forms and such, and he specifically had a set of gamblers dice in his bag. Plus both the blood violin and the death dice needed to be given away and accepted willingly.
4. Teddy! Good to know you’re alive and well, employment hiccups aside. (I am suspicious about said employment hiccup, though… is there something possibly preventing him from getting another job, until he has no choice but to return to the OIAR? 🤔)
5. Sam?! Do you not remember what happened to RedCanary? Don’t go searching around the Institute ruins! I’m concerned…
6. MR. BONZO?!!! Lena, you’re sending Gwen towards Mr. Bonzo, right out the gate?!! 😱
(I hope Gwen comes back okay, with minimal trauma. Hopefully she can prove herself to be ready for the “real work”.)
1. If every onboarding paperwork had these fun existential questions I wouldn't be in a hurry to complete them either. I would try to savour every last one!
4. It's either that or he wasn't far enough into it. I'm also very curious to see where that thread goes!
7?. Feels like Alice might still be hurt by Sam. Feeling weird about him doing stuff with other coworkers etc.
You're asking why Sam is still interested in the forbidden derelict building of mystery?
@@robloggiaI know _why_ he wants to explore the ruins. Honestly, I’m eager to know what they find!
…I’m just very concerned for Sam and Alice’s safety. 😥

1:50 Pre-case
4:34 Case (Unclear) [Statement: Chester]
16:50 Post-case
While there has been plenty of speculation on the Powers that be being in some way different in this universe, I think this is the episode where it's pretty much undeniable. I think it's safe to assume these are the same "gambler's dice" seen among the wares of the strange merchant from episode 4, also speaking of luck both good and bad. Still, we've only seen 10 cases so far so I doubt we've even seen all of the entities yet so trying to fully re-categorise them all seems a bit pointless at this point.
I feel like the case is a combination of End and Web.
End, because of the whole “inevitable fate” thing (reminds me of the Book of the Dead and the grim reaper playing games for people’s lives) and Web because of the addiction element, the subtle suspicion that you might not be in full control of your actions, etc.
Why didn’t you list the pre-pre-case?
@@TheNitpickChick it feels more like desolation to me, with the whole gambling ruins your life angle but web also kinda works, the lines between the entities are definitely blurrier in this universe
The Web & the Stranger.
Web:
“I still don’t really know if they made me roll them. It always felt like my choice.”
“The weirdest thing is, nobody ever said no. Some stranger approaches you, slides a pair of dice over to you, and tells you to roll them, you say no, right?”
“He knows what’s coming then, even before I place them on the table between us. He doesn’t want to roll them, but he picks them up anyway.”
“Maybe just once more time, for old time’s sake.”
Stranger:
“I started to feel less and less connected with the world, like I was a lucky ghost or something. Walking with normal people but not really one of them anymore.”
“I was rolling for myself less and less, focusing more on being some mysterious stranger, I even started dressing for the part.”
So. More of Freddie acting in mysterious ways! I doubt Sam was even loged in while he was doing that paperwork. So Freddie was listening and decided to play that file all on its own!
A wonderful bit of cosmic coincidence, the day this ep came out is the day of my weekly DND group session.
Same lol literally watching this right after dnd
I was miffed the dice were just six siders.

God, i ADORE Alice so much. Go girl, deny your feelings! That always works soooo well
I swear this statement is literally just the web and the end making out
14:52 is probably the best line in either series and that’s saying a lot
This case/statement was so damn good I absolutely loved it. All these gory details make it slap hard at the end.
I can't wait to see what Sam and Alice will find at the ruins.
I’m honestly really excited to just hear Sam and Alice go Dora-The-Explorer in the next episode (let’s hope nothing happens, and let’s also hope Alice doesn’t put the “Die-r” in “Dyer”)
Also, is Bonzo from the ARG? I remember there was a mascot mentioned in it but I forgot who
And I also thought that “Gary” was “Gerry” and got very confused until I remembered that the names are pronounced differently-
Mr Bonzo was a part of the ARG. From what I know, he's supposed to be a children's mascot from the 90's, like Mr Blobby?
Ooh hot off the presses
Its so weird to hear a statement read by jonny after all this time!! I love it!!
One thing that we never got in TMA was a love triangle, but TMP is pulling through on that front! If this is going to be more about desire than fear, a love triangle honestly makes a lot of sense. Unrequited love often leads to us destroying ourselves for what we want. I can already see it coming and I don’t want Alice to get hurt 😩 I’m so attached to her already it’s crazy
I can easily see one of the new fears manifesting as “Love”. It feels like that one would be one of the most powerful. I see it being like “The End” in the way that it gets everyone eventually. Everybody falls in love and gets heartbroken at some point in their lives. It’s inevitable. Even if you identify as aromantic, platonic love can be just as deep and hurt just as much as romantic love. They said TMP is going to be about what makes a human a human and TMA is what makes a monster a monster. What is more human than the desire to love and be loved? I don’t know, just a thought. Alice better live through this podcast or I’m throwing hands, though!
@@marinterry3055I will never understand why some of this fandom think unpleasant people are the only worthwhile characters.
These dice seem like they would be a cool artifact to play with once the TMATTRPG comes out

Celia: I didn't find anything on The Magnus Institute
Sam: :(
Chester: STATEMENT FROM THE MAGNUS INSTITUTE
This statement calling any other dice than d6 "weird dice" is awfully funny and kind of makes me annoyed at the person xD
Theres a video game to find a McGuffin called the Platonic Forms, artifacts that can change reality. They look like multi-sided die, of course. 😅
Hmmmm... Dice that give "good" and bad luck, and aren't actually random? Sounds like it could be the web. Minus all the spidery aesthetic, of course.
I never could get the hang of Thursdays, but this makes it all worthwhile.
I really enjoyed this one! I love it when Johnny does the dark voice
This ep has HEAVY sinister dark undertones
I can see how this case/statement would seem like it's aligned to The End maybe, what with references to gambling and death in TMA, but personally I suspect the dice are with the Web. What with addictions (like gambling) being in the Web's wheelhouse, plus the swimmy question of how much free will was actually involved in deciding to roll the them, the dice just seem more web than anything else
I love the idea of putting “Why?” In a job application form
Interesting. I don’t think any of the entities are associated with luck. Maybe the Web? The dice do seem to manipulate you without your knowing. And besides, what is luck but a series of unseen connections, which the Web has dominion over.
You are looking for the End. Remember the from reapers played games of chance with their victims? The games were apparently supernaturally stacked in favor of the reaper despite the luck being involved.
"A roll of the dice deciding if you live or die is 100% End based."
"We used to be."
I think I felt exactly what Alice felt in that moment because the line read was so excellent. I suddenly got that horrible pang of intense yearning, coupled with the knowledge that the yearning is doomed, and the painful, desperate hope that still digs its claws in and refuses to let go.
The fact that this came right after a statement about an inevitably doomed gamble hits me so hard right now...
Oh Alice. Want to give her the biggest hug.
literally screaming and jumping for joy rn
YES. This is what I was waiting for. More archives style statements, please, I beg
Oh, hey Jo--er, 'Chester' seems to be helping Sam out.
Those dice....hmmm....I'm getting End vibes from them, tbh. Maybe it's because of some TMA fanfiction I've been reading lately, but The End always has ties to one's fate, so...
Looks like we'll be getting some potential lore drops next episode, since our protagonists are going to the Institute itself for clue-hunting. I just hope they don't wind up like RedCanary 🥺I really like these two...
Wasn't there a Statement in the original with some guy winning against Death in a game of Dice? I think this seems similar to that
There's also elements of the Web - rolling the dice seems to be a compulsion, you're gonna do it even if you don't want to - and the Desolation - the dice are going to eventually betray you and hurt you or take something away.
I got shades of The End and The Lonely. The Grim reapers who played games to trade places with their victims and Peter Lukas, who couldn't resist a bet and died because of it. "Snake eyes" aludes to _how_ Lukas died by beening _Seen_ by Jon.
@@Argozene I agree, the compulsion to roll the dice makes me think about gambling addictions, and how much control you really have over it. Does one choose to indulge in the addiction?
God damn I love these goofy ass shout outs.
The words "viability as catalyst " made me shiver

the fanbase has taken 9 episodes to realize they can get Jonny S. to say some really silly stuff through the shoutouts. Nice.
Anyway, apparently the institute in this timeline was more of a "museum of items" instead of an "archive of files". That's interesting.
SCP-kinda situation?
Is it though? Because along with the statements, there was an artefact storage where they stored *the table* so it kind of functions that way too. Magnus Institute studies about the paranormal activities, statement taking is only part of it. The research spans across a wide array of things to do yk
