You have a great ear! What u heard was one of the greatest televised rock performances of all time. That was the rhythm section of Steve Jordan and Charlie Drayton (Expensive Winos). The secret sauce was Neil wouldn’t rehearse with them. What we saw was the first time those three ever played that song.
@@JoeStranzl If he wasn't "into it", he probably wouldn't have been there. Stills and Young are honest to goodness legends, I'm sure he was psyched to be there. Now, was he "challenged" musically, no, but that isn't the point.

Neil is the Grandfather of Grunge! It's damn cool to see Steven and Neil on the same stage again. And John Mayer? Sounds like Clapton is sitting in! Keep on rockin', old dudes!
2 old superstars sounding like a garage band. It was a train wreck, BUT it was Neil's train wreck. It's what he does, and that is a beautiful thing !! And John was just icing on the cake, dropping in a great and very appropriate solo.
That was badass. John really knows how to add just the right amount and take away just the right amount. Neil was ageless here and the band was perfect. You can tell Neil loves Stephen lots and thinks lots of him.
Stephen Stills I didn't even realize it was him I thought it was Robert Plant me some Peter tork. The drummer looks like a splitting image of Bobby Kimball the former singer from Toto the drummer is completely killing it by the way. The bass player is out of control just incredible laying down a deep Groove with an incredible energy. John Mayer still looks like he's at college and looks too young to be with Stills & young. And what can you say about Neil Young I can't believe he's still performing he sounds great he's playing is great I love the leaves that he was cranking out around 6:12 getting that really deep echoey crazy sound that he was getting 30 years ago and he was playing with pearl jam.
OutF*****Gstanding..!! Neil..!!! Still, after all these decades, I detect ZERO diminishment in his voice, playing and overall mojo! i.e. still got it! Tone for days, vocally and of course, that gloriously sublime and to die for guitar tone.. STILL chill inducing!!! Thanks for sharing!
Lol. America was a little greater when in 2019 when gas was 1.14 and every country in the world wasn't dragging us towards WW3. But I know some of you apparently don't remember how great that was. I can't imagine having blinders on like that

@@youropionmattersnotno, they pretty dirty. And I mean that in a good way. Stills and Young can still play their great songs.

And at a half empty afternoon wedding, no less. 😉

Amazing to see Neil Young and Stephen Stills on stage together in 2024. Still rocking hard at almost 80!
This is a benefit concert in Lake Hughes, California to raise money for children with medical conditions. It's at a camp called The Painted Turtle.
1.5 hr away from me, wish I'd known.
Neil has children born with medical conditions, I'm sure he's devoted to their cause !
And?
I wish I was there - what a Location and Aura.
Why so few in attendance?
John Mayer captured the moment with his solo, didn't overplay and sounded perfect for the song.
PSSSSTT, don't tell no one... Mayer didn't play a "solo"!!! It's called playing, "lead".
"solo" means that you are playing all alone. No body else is playing, just the "solo'ist".
Fully agree that John played to the tune and mood perfectly. Call it what you will, us idiots call it a solo and it was great!
