Good to see veterans and younsters in the mix for this lethal tongan lineup. A combination of Moses Suli and Paul Alamoti adds dangerous skill, size and aggresion into this backline to aid with the dangerous speed of Tolu Koula, Daniel Tupou and Sione Katoa. One thing you can notice throughout this lineup is 98% of these players have already played together through past international matches and the recent world cup adding to natural bonding and trust within this lineups defense and offense. Two halves being a mix of the experienced Lolohea and young Katoa will combine into a real creative pair of halves for Mate Maa Tonga. An aspect on the field Tonga will absolutley dominate is the agility, skill, aggresion and size of its Forward pack. Not only are the ball carriers like Adin, Katoa, Haumole etc dangerous in carry meters, they also are great off-loaders keeping ball alive in situations they find themselves with no options. With these lethal forward pack they are sure to dominate not only in offense but in defense with their aggresion and their size. The bench is even stacked with player like Sitili, Siliva, Felise and Paseka which can really boost the morale with their presence on the field once substitued. Overall this Tonga lineup dominates the aspect of a champion international lineup for these next coming games against Australia and New Zealand. Great to see so many youngsters given a chance to represent their country this up-coming Pacific Championship. Hopefully Jojo Fifita one day gets a call up into the red jersey. looking forward to their results👍👍🇹🇴🇹🇴
if they did it'll be insane. however, their halves combination is the only weak link. Need to develop Iongi, Latu Fainu and Isaiya Katoa before the world cup if they are to compete against New Zealand, England and Australia.
Great team! Pretty cool to see Tonga have some depth with them leaving the likes of Watene Zelezniak, Will Peniseni, Sifa Talakai, Frizell and them out
Very good team tonga used to have a good sense of footy in 2019 rewatching old clips showed they used to play out the back with the forwards and scramble on last tackle kicking game was definitely weak i feel like the penrith structure is such a good starting base for tonga to adapat to they need quick play the ball thru the middle and let the young halves play eyes up footy through the sets i like havili at 9 because he has a good feel for thr footy the bench is defintly gonna be our weak spot
I remember when we were struggling to find spine players. Options were limited Now we have Fullbacks - Lehi Hopoate, Tolu Koula, Tesi Niu, Isaiah Iongi, Halves - Latu Fainu, Isiah Katoa, Tui Lolohea, Kotoni Staggs, Deon Teaupa and Junior Amone(if it weren’t for the off field stuff)
Their forward pack is their best weapon. Centre the offense around the pack instead of playing regular structured footy and they'll have a chance against the Australia and New Zealand
I think they should shuffle koloamatangi to bench and put samuela in. That kid works when he gets the ball and it will be good to partner up with Eliesa as he has same work ethic, Keaon’s good but doesn’t have the heart samuela has. Isaiah needs to step out of his comfort zone and try things he’s never done before. He plays too safe. Use some short dribble in end goal for Addin or high centre kicks for eliesa. Just to put on pressure. Maybe I’m blabbing too much, but I have high hopes for the team. I believe someday we will dominate the big stage. All the best boys
@@alfredtameifuna8928 Lolohea is experienced. he's been around a long time. But the times I've seen him play, whilst he has his good moments, he takes too many wrong options as a playmaker and is mistake prone.
Surely Samuela Fainu, Tyson Frizell, or even Jojo Fifita should've gotten the call up too. Still gonna back this squad tho. All the best against Australia & NZ. 🇹🇴
Naah don't need them. Woolf chose these players for a reason to play a particular structure and game plan. Oku ikai ke fili noaia 'e timi ia. Experience and young bucks. The last ride for Woolfy.
We don’t need them but we need Siua Wong & Soni Luke? Inexperience much🤔😭 Whatever game plan Woolf has, hope it goes well regardless. Last year wasn’t great for MMT, need to do better this year.
@@LeagueFan274 plenty of time to develop those players eg. Samuela Fainu, Jojo Fifita. Siua Wong and Soni Luke have been there before so they're familiar with Woolfy that's why they're there. Since 2018 Tonga has had Board issues now they have a stable board England tour different squad, unavailability of key players etc and the English Ref who was 18th man. We have a complete squad here and stability with the Board back in Tonga.
I never knew Topou was Tonga And replace Latu Fainu from Tuimoala Lolohea in the halves and put Tolu Kola to extended bench and give experience to lssaih Iongi at fullback in international level
is this Tongan team officially backed by the Tongan rugby league? I feel it's hypocritical for the ARL to pick a Tonga invitational team but still include it as an official Test when they still don't recognize Super league tests as official. I guess we can put that down to Sydney logic LOL.
Yes it is. Tongan Rugbyleague Board back in Tonga is new and recognised by the IRL which includes 3 white Aussie kats in the Board to oversee stuff. Tonga has had Board Issues since 2018. Now Tonga is set.
It was actually the english refs that were horrendous in that test match

Yeah quality side with an insane forward pack. They lack the halves power to that's all. need to develop blokes like Latu Fainu and Iongi
