Their name came from them going to a tournament in the early 1900s and their jerseys looked so bad that people said they looked like orphans. A sportswriter put this in the paper and the name just stuck haha. Also, the girls are called the Orphan Annie’s 😂. The school won a competition similar to what yall are doing back in 2013 for “ Most unusual mascot”
