@larry I think it’s cool that there was a program for trucks to drag race I’ve heard that nhra shut the program down when it was 5 races til the season finale in 2001 and nhra didn’t care if the fans liked it or not nhra just shut the program down without telling them
@redracer1985 Yeah, I know that, one of the guys up here in Edmonton owns the grey/blue PS dodge in Top Sportsman (IHRA). But I'm talking how they went from a pro class to a sportsman class. Read some article on Competition Plus... A lot of these guys were doing heavy R&D, fans loved the class, lots of big-name sponsors were about to come in, and the NHRA was like OH BTW YOURE IN COMP ELIMINATOR NOW LOL
I really dig this class... Only problem is that it may as well have been the S10 pro-stock class. If a Dodge held the class record, why didn't it seem competitive in the few races it's in this video?
All I remember from back then was that the Dakotas weren't as aerodynamic as the S10's due to a wider front fascia and they were asking NHRA to let them narrow it. Not sure if they let them before they killed the class or not.
@nashvilleraidersfan Pro Stock Truck is now a class in Competition Eliminator. Index: 7.95 seconds. Class Record: Tom Mettler. 2001 Dodge Dakota. 7.34 seconds @ 184.02 mph
Yeah, they were bad..My buddy Lance Abbott won the 2022 NHRA Top Sportsman World Championship in Pro Stock truck converted to run in Top Sportsman..He and his truck are killers..I call him the Equalizer because if his trucks performance is off some, he'll make it up on the tree..He is F-ing deadly in that thing!!!
Bring back those awesome PRO STOCK TRUCKS....

@@timmyperry5864 well when the NHRA dropped the class after 2001 teams were already planning everything they would need for the 2002 season
Pro Stock Truck is still around its just part of Competition Eliminator
Wish this was still around.
NHRA needs to bring back the trucks! Those little 358ci small blocks are awesome! Love watching some still run in comp.
Actually Pro Stock Truck is still around it’s a class in Competition Eliminator
@@Nitroracer1320 I know, that’s why I said I love watching some still run in comp……

This is what drag racing needs again right now
God I miss this class
Pro Stock Truck competition was really cool. I'm certainly in favor of this class being brought back to NHRA.

Favorite NHRA class of all time.
Didn't the NHRA get sued by the teams because they randomly pulled the plug on these?
@austin yes they did sue nhra for screwing them up
These guys got screwed so bad
and won the law suit@@timmyperry5864

This is when .400 was a perfect reaction time.
9:02 brad jeter you don't get points for the MPH record only for the et record
@ 6:54 and 7:32 the two drivers are climbing up that points ladder and this could only help
Way better racing that "NASCAR" truck series!!! sucked when they pulled the plug on these...really hauled for all they had for engines!!
WHYYYYYYYYYYYY did NHRA get rid of these cars? And WHYYYYYYYYYY did they leave us with those obnoxious motorcycles?
@nfa I’ve heard that the fans wanted nhra to keep doing the trucks but nhra didn’t care so they shut the program down after 2001
Because it became as boring as Pro Stock is now. No variety.
@ 6:35 close and personal friends of JEGS
man, coughlins have racing in their blood!
They have money.
