This feels like a far more appropriate time to have released this episode Plus it’s not making Toby into a worry filled character, he’s more so concerned about his work instead It feels so much better
Great rewrite, nicely weaved into Series 1 with Edward getting a good role here. I like the dirty look James gives at the end, nicely setting up the events of Dirty Objects episode.
What a nice rewrite on this story and have it fit in for Season 1. I think this would've been a nice place to do this episode idea here if the television series in the early seasons didn't mainly adapt from the original books here. I like how you have Toby meeting Edward here for the first time in this rewrite. Fantastic job here. Would you do another rewrite to a later episode from the CGI series of Thomas and Friends here?
Stellar work Nicco! Sometimes, a good rewrite just needs a different time placement and context. I really like that you made Toby’s unease with signals from the fact he came from a small line that wouldn’t have much need for points and many trains, kinda like a country bumpkin moving into the big city.
@@potentialpublicdomainI want to see someone rewriting the HIT Era Skarloey and Rheneas episodes in the RWS by having the episodes taking place in their first and younger years.
Superb work! It feels much more at home in season 1, since Toby having to deal with a signal gantry seems like something he should learn when he comes to Sodor. Perfectly in character for him! 🙂👍
I love the original episode, for just how it felt like Andrew taking an opportunity that he didn't get when he was writing for the series back in the 80's, such as this. It just felt like a Percy's Promise in terms of when it came out. Of course this is a sweet take, mainly for Toby's first impression on Edward and the iconic classic voices, be it those from Alec or Michael.
So unexpecting that Toby would be so new and confusing to the signals and area of Knapford. Didn't think he would be that disoriented about it. But I like that moment where he first met Edward.
What a better take of Signals Crossed! Bravo! Keep up the good work! I do have a few questions for you. 1. Is this rewrite version of Signals Crossed free to adapt in TVs format? If so, that’s great. If not, that’s fine. 2. In the North Western Railway timeline, is this rewritten story of Signals Crossed take place in 1951? I’ll look forward to hear it from you.
honestly I’m not a fan of how henrietta doesn’t have any role in this version. yes I get that henrietta didn’t have a face in the model series but still.
I know but I kinda followed the early seasons' style where Henrietta is like, Toby's anchor but doesn't intervene and the closest thing to her having a proper role is 2:55
If Toby has troubles with singnal like that one how the hell did he make it to sodor in the first place let alone through tibmouth to see the fat controller
I have a headcanon that Toby didn’t go to Sodor on his own power… he was put on a goods train from a yard near his tramway and was taken to sodor that way.
That moment when you realize Edward and Toby have never had a major interaction in the official series
uhh, what about in Edward's book where he defends Edward for being wary of cows?
@@Lt_Gonzo he never said anything about rws though
Excellent!
Signals Crossed works better during Toby's first days on Sodor.
Agreed, this is way better than the original episode when it 1st aired.
@@bryantan863 it was a good episode but took place way to far into the future which made no sense
I agree, it makes sense for him to be afraid in the early days on the NWR since he was on a one-track tramway and was the only engine on the line.
This feels like a far more appropriate time to have released this episode
Plus it’s not making Toby into a worry filled character, he’s more so concerned about his work instead
It feels so much better
I liked that Toby's wheels are red like the prop
Weren’t they painted black later on though?
@@WesleyO05Toby’s wheels were painted in black during S5

Dang it, Nicco! You beat me to it! I don't really get to complain, I'm at fault for procrastinating coming up with a way to make it work. Great video!
What a nice rewrite on this story and have it fit in for Season 1.

That was an excellent rewrite. I can see how it fits in with Toby's early days on Sodor.

He should do a Season 2 rewrite of Duck & The Slip Coaches
@@potentialpublicdomainI want to see someone rewriting the HIT Era Skarloey and Rheneas episodes in the RWS by having the episodes taking place in their first and younger years.
@@jeremiahsisaias8677 Whark In Peace would be an easy rewrite. Just shorten the runtime and cut to the climax.
Superb work! It feels much more at home in season 1, since Toby having to deal with a signal gantry seems like something he should learn when he comes to Sodor. Perfectly in character for him! 🙂👍
Now this is how this episode should have been written. Making him a new engine to the railway makes so much more sense.

Andrew wasn't actually the writer of Signals Crossed
...but as the headwriter, there's a possibility he may have had some part in it...
Signals Crossed always felt like an episode that would've worked for something set very early in the timeline! A great adaptation!
This is how you do a Toby story is done
Now this episode makes so much more sense now…
Probably Better Than The CGI Version!
It is lol
IF THIS GETS MADE FOR KIDS, IGNORING THE TOTAL END OF THE VIDEO, I'M GONNA MAKE SURE UA-cam NEVER HEARS THE END OF IT
Spoiler: it was, i sent an appeal, and now it's back to "not for kids" :D

Nice to see a new episode on here after a long while.
Babe, wake up! New Nicco’s Trains video!!
GOOD EPISODE it realy shows the early years better than cgi
Ive always wanted this! :D
"Signals crossed" gives me migraines...
Looks like Toby is back now he has a junction problem oh deer there’s a big problem glad Edward was there to help him
I don't know why the Toby face in the thumbnail makes me think of the Jay Jonah Jameson laugh meme
Now this makes much more sense...
Would've fit right in Series 1 or Series 2.... had the crew not been restricted to Awdry material.
I cannot wait for more action just like this
Excellent stuff
Spectacular rewrite!

Yeah, wish Henrietta could have been given an Annie/Clarabel styled face in the early seasons.
awesome vid man
Is this also when Toby and Edward met that’s interesting
Brilliant rewrite.
This looks better then the cgi mostly because this should been on Toby first day on sodor

I had created a Headcanon exactly like this only a few weeks ago. How coincidental.
