Lynyrd Skynyrd told Shinedown they could sing this song anytime they wanted and it has become a fan favorite. They don’t do very many covers. In fact, I only know of two or three that they have done. I couldn’t agree more, as a musician playing in a cover band in the late 1970s we did Freebird twice a night for eight months. Freebird is a good song, but quite frankly, I’m over it. I love Simple Man, It’s an extremely heartfelt ballad.

The only other song that I know of that Shinedown did a cover of, besides this song, is Tie Your Mother Down by Queen. Always be honest if you know it or not. You will come upon songs that are so popular that you are likely know it. I could not do a channel like this for rock or metal since I know over 6000 songs in that genre.
