- Part One of the Nipsey Hussle series Daddy Cool from Above The Law and several members of the Slauson Boys weigh in on Nipsey's beginning stages to notoriety including Cowboy, Cuzzy Capone, Baby Gooch, Tiny Draws, Robin Hood, Ralo Stylez and Rimpau.
Nipsey's life was cut short unexpectedly on March 31, 2019 seen on the news laying in front of The Marathon Clothing store which had essentially became a landmark in his Hyde Park community near Crenshaw and Slauson Ave. His name had become associated with Dr Sebi prior to his demise. A lot of conspiracies have surfaced but none have been proven.

I shed a tear when i heard about nips passing,his music was so inspiring, been a fan since 08, my favourite song is Payback which came out in 09 and that song is consious, he raps about 9/11 and prison system, and how bangers needs to unite under one flag which is the black flag, he was definitely a unique rapper.

Almost every day i find myself watching or rewatching a Nip piece. One of my favorites to revisit is the Nip and Jay Rock 2-part freestyle.
I really got turned on to Nip thru a couple of his interviews. Hussle In The House was already out. I came up thru the Kriss Kross era so his song immediately caught my ear. It sounded like the West Coast, gangbang version of Jump so i was on it !
I remember heading East on Slauson one afternoon. Seems like damn near 15 years ago ! I'm in my rida in the gutter lane at the light between the gas station and where The Marathon store now is. Dudes were passing out the Bullets Ain't Got No Names CDs. I think it's Vol. 2--whichever one has Hussle Is My Last Name on it, kz THAT WAS MY SHIT whn i put it in the deck ! 'Til this day, i still hv that same original CD in my collection.
We lost a real one whn we lost Nip. He was too much of a threat to the status quo. He was putting into action what so many before him only talked about ! As fans, but more importantly as Black men, We need to follow his young example and OWN ! I'm in my 40's and i can say this young Soldier had my eyes and mind open thru some of his wise words.

I think it was Dobb and at the end of the video he signed it Dobb Tha Great or whoever it was “Tha Great”. Always wanted to hear their perspective of Nipsey going by Nipsey Tha Great at times to see who came up with it. But seeing this video especially the OG with the Hillz hat answered a lot of questions. Seems like a lot of collab efforts from the community in helping to create the “concept”.
