Guillaume Peres Joel’s dead too? Thought it was his father jerry who was well known for a lot of Star Trek who passed...? Didn’t realise his son was gone too
Fun Fact: Joel Goldsmith was the son of the late composer Jerry Goldsmith, the man who did the main theme for Star Trek: The Next Generation and did the soundtrack for three of its sequel movies.
Jerry Goldsmith also composed the soundtracks for Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, as well as the main theme for Star Trek: Voyager. Joel Goldsmith composed approx. a third of the soundtrack for ST: First Contact, as his father was running behind due to commitments to another picture.
I absolutely love this cue. It’s just amazing. However what makes me laugh every time is after the big climax around 4:18-4:28ish and it becomes very still and quiet, you can faintly hear the old 2000s cell tower signal trying to cut through during this recording. You’d hear this sound if you were listening to music on your phone and you’d receive a text message. I can only imagine someone unwittingly left their cellphone on during the session which wouldn’t be a problem now but back then would cause artifacts like this. And definitely not just this upload, my copy of this soundtrack does it too.

Hah, you're right! I must've heard this soundtrack dozens of times. I will never unhear it now.
1:24 "This is Colonel Mitchell of the Earth ship, Odyssey. We surrender, please cease fire! Repeat: We surrender! ... Sam, I don't think they're gonna stop!"
3:11 is actually the best part. RIP Joel Goldsmith, we miss you so much :'(
I see the truth just by listening to that part.

Origin. TRUTH.
And 4:23...
4:38 "What did he say?"
"Have mercy, for I was blind but now I see"
"Mia clementia, denar esto."
He is fantastic! Such a loss. R.I.P. Joel Goldsmith

@@BenjaminMRogers Yeah!
@@BenjaminMRogers Yeah. Some of my other favorite work of Jerry's is Disney's Mulan and The Mummy starring Brendan Fraser.
his score for alien was Oscar worthy
Like father like son then. A great gift of music passed down.
The best Stargate film.
R.I.P, he did an awesome Job
