That bridge at 12:06 is also called a Single Leaf Bascule Bridge. We have one here, in Fort Myers, on the Seminole Gulf Railroad. It goes across the Caloosahatchee and the Dinner Train and some sightseeing trains run across it. All the freight uses it too. Lots of boating activity here also. You can go from the Atlantic to the Gulf!!! You got a GREAT shot of that one! Drones take railfan videos to a whole ‘nother level!!!
That’s definitely one of the older versions. I’ve seen that caloosatchee bridge many times. I might actually have to take the drone over that one! Haven’t been to the Seminole in a bit, might just have to make a day of it here soon!
Awesome catches Dakota. Also, did you know CSX is bringing some of their MP15's, C40-8W's, and even Flared SD70MAC's out of storage and back into service?
Very, very good video!!! Loved the drone shots (except when your buddies were talking). Ammonium nitrate took out Texas City, Texas in 1947. There are good documentaries on the subject. Ammonium nitrate was also used to destroy the Federal building in Oklahoma City. Wicked stuff in certain conditions!
Thanks Dave! Don’t know you personally but you’re here pretty often...I notice!!! That Ammonium stuff is quite the deal...I know the guys who receive and unload those cars. Crazy stuff. My buddy’s talkin huh....have fun trying to convince a grandma to quiet down!!! Haha
Hello there I have watch most of your videos I lived in Bradenton from 98 to 07 and spent every Tuesday at that very location taking many pics of the train then one lucky day the enginer said go ahead get on the headend and was able to stay up there with him untill it was time to go north and the best part was getting to ride a cross the big bridge to the other side he stop got off thanked him and my wife pick me up and home we went and yes I do have my pics I took going from red barn to the other side great day
I think the signals by the swing bridge are from the days of the Atlantic Coast line or even Possible the Seaboard Coastline one of the two im not sure which
Right, they would’ve been from the ACL. The Palmetto Sub is all ACL to Bradenton. The Swing Span even had the ACL lettering up until just about a year ago when it was repainted along with the other upgrades.
Looks Great, Dakota! Thanks for the shoutout too! Had a blast, we’ll have to so it again soon!
Damn Right we do! Thanks for coming out 🤘
Nice catches Dakota! -LRLP

Thank Ya!
Notice at 6:32 how the signals instantaneously turn off as the last axle rolls over the circut
Yeah I noticed that too. They tend to be dark most of the time when a train isn’t around.
Good video!
