Gossip Girl is one of my faves to rewatch every Fall! It's great knitting TV 😄

For your hand dyed yarn, the white yarn around it could be an acrylic or cotton yarn, so it wouldn’t take up the dye as easily as a wool yarn would in a bath. I would definitely knit up a little swatch with both yarns and give it a bath with wool wash and a color catcher!! You’ll be able to see if the dye bleeds into the variegated yarn or if the color catcher sufficiently catches it!!

I love doc martens so when I found their Suede Carlson Mules I knew I had to have a pair… I decided on the white pair and they are adorable with my hand knit socks

I lived in TX for a few years and I missed the New England cold so much. I hope it starts feeling like fall soon. The AC is always so intense in the shops that your cardigan will get a lot of use. So glad your channel was recommended. Happy knitting 💚🧶💚

Hey! So I'm response to your deep turquoise blue yarn that's still bleeding dye into the water when you wash it and I've got some tips/suggestions:
    1. Make sure you wash it in cold water (dyeing wool requires heat and acid, like vinegar or citric acid, to set the color. So if you're washing in warm or hot water it will make your colors leech out into the water usually to some degree.
    2. Add a small scrap of the yarn you plan to pair with it in the same bath to see if it picks up any color (the string that is tied around the skein is probably a cotton string, which won't pick up the dye as readily as a wool because plant fibers and protein fibers require different types of dyes/dyeing process.)
    3. Blues and reds are notorious color bleeders! Many times no matter what that color will bleed almost any dang time you wash it.
    4. You can try setting the color again on your own. If you have a spare stainless pot (at least big enough to submerge the yarn and one that you're willing to not use for food any longer) you can heat it to just below or around a low simmer and add maybe 1 tablespoon of white vinegar or citric acid powder and "cook" it for 20-45 minutes that can help set any remaining dye. And let it cool then rinse clean in cool water. Purl Soho also had a good article on re-setting due on your yarn that also offers an option in how to do this in the microwave.
    5. Last one, you can also pick up a product called "Synthrapol", which clean oils from fiber but it also removes excess dye (which is common that not all the dye on the yarn has fully set in the fibers).
Okay that may have been too much info, but I really hope that helps. Glad to see your update and I LOVE those Sunflower Socks!

Viewer from Western WA here, hi! You wouldn't recognize WWA Falls now. The past couple years, October has still been hot, believe it or not. Yesterday, it started off foggy and cool, but by the time 11am came around, we went pumpkin patching and it was approaching 80 degrees! It was too hot to do the corn maze. 😢 AR least it isn't smokey + hot like last year!
I love your projects and wish you a wonderful Fall season!

A beret is on my to-knit list this fall. I feel like you can style it with a sweatshirt and dress/skirt underneath but that is also because I am aggressively #TeamNoPants

Carson your sunflower socks are so prettyyyyy! If you're having issues with bleeding with that yarn still I'd try some color catchers in your blocking water!

For shoes that show off handmade socks, I highly recommend clogs. My favorite are "Lotta from Stockholm" brand. :)

Oh my goodness I think I heard your kiddo in the background and I thought it was my kiddo waking up and I was so sad to have my knitting time cut short 😂 haha but my goodness girl I love all the colors you put together! You have a great eye for color coordination.

I have two cardigans I bought before I started knitting. But now that I knit, I won’t let myself buy another even though the two I have are wearing out in the elbows, so I relate to the cardigan issues you were speaking of 😂

oh my gosh, I'm in the same boat with baby knits! Planning to make my baby--who is also like in the small percentiles--a 12-18 mos sweater for her 1st bday in December and I know it's gonna be massive on her lol. But that's okay! Babies grow so fast and they can wear them all winter. Oh, and happy birthday, I'm an October gal too and also got yarn for a sweater!

To check the colorfastness of the blue yarn you an make a tiny swatch of the 2 together and soak to see if the dye goes to the lighter yarn or just to the water 👍🏻

Bernat Freesia is a mostly acrylic yarn that's bouclé-like, it could be closer to what you're looking for

I started the I'm Batty for Halloween-socks this week and I'm flying through the first one, it's SO addicting! I hope I don't lose momentum on the second one haha. Just do a big W om the bday-sweater, it'll be so cute! It could be both Weasly and Wonka! I started rewatching Gossip Girl this summer and it's so bad but fun! The fashion is very nostalgic.

Same here! Love fall, October and it’s my bday month 🎉💕 and everyone is saying it’s too warm (except knitters in Scandinavia) and I remember that September was once again the hottest month ever in history. Global warming, obviously 😢

UGG makes some clear rain boots that I love for wearing my hand knit socks. I saw them last year when Knitty Knatty had them on. I live in Oregon though so lots of opportunities for rain boots.

If you want to make another market bag style bag I highly recommend crochet. So much faster! I made one for my sister in a just a few days using 24/7 cotton from lion brand. I have a feeling it will hold up better than knit as well just due to the nature of crochet fabric. I made myself a knit one I use as a beach or pool tote and it feels delicate and I’m always nervous about loading it too heavy.
