I've been seeing people doing things wrong with Battlin' boxers. Like with Sparrer you can't battle the turn you special it. I swear I'm the only one who plays them right half the time.
Sol Mercury no, it states for the rest of the turn. So if you do it main phase 2, then you arent having your battle phase for the rest of the turn. But if you use it main phase one then you cannot conduct battle. You gotta find the loop holes in cards.

at 4:30 the Boxer guy Specials, Photon Thrasher, then normal summons Switchhitter and activates his effect. ... except "you cannot special summon monsters the turn you activate this effect, except "battlin boxer" monsters"... he then xyz summons with the illegal Glassjaw from the grave into (what looks like Heroic ChampionExcalibur [cant tell cuz far away and loud]), which you also could not have done, if you activated switchitter xD
I know his match up too well. My 3 Graphas staring down 1 lead Yoke and I can't do anything because my only compulse is in the grave. I can't attack in fear of Yoke gaining attack points. I have to hold out for Dark Hole instead... Wish I had more cards... :(
Lead Yoke's effect says something like "If this card on the field WOULD be destroyed." Lead Yoke never hits the graveyard for its triggerless eff to activate. If it did, then every time it was used it would loose all of its Xyz materials because it would leave the field. Tachyon Dragon says no to effects like that. It can also run over Gachi Gachi, Maestro, Number 101, Headgeared, and an already face up Marshmallon because those effects apply while they are on the field and the use of those effects requires the monster to stay on the field and keeps the monster on the field. None of those cards hit the graveyard to stop their destruction. An example of an effect like the effect you are thinking about is Number C101 and Pyramid Turtle and so on. Tachyon can negate those effects on the field, but the effect that special summons a monster activates in the graveyard, so Tachyon cannot stop them. BUT. Tachyon will still throw up its middle finger and attack again over the monster you special summon unless its a 4000 ATK Endless Decay, which it could then point for point with :P
Now that i look at it does the boxer player have a glass jaw in his sidedeck? Glass jaw and switch hitter is the win condition of the deck. That makes no sense.
game one I would've hit rota with that dragged down. dark hole although it would kill grapha you could get him back and the change of the bb player otking next turn is slim so rota would've been a better choice. Btw didn't finish the did just paused it.
I perfer whoever I'm facing to cut my deck some dudes are real hasty to stack your deck I don't trust that had that happen to me twice so I only allow cutting you can tell whoever your playing to shuffle or cut your deck

He couldn't ve activated switchitter eff in the 1st place, since he special summon Photon Trasher.

It isn't only after, it is during the turn you activate switchitter's eff.

If Battlin Boxer Glassjaw is a material card for an XYZ monster, and is discarded to the graveyard as a material card, does his effect still work?

you allowed to cut and shuffle...and in big tournaments like a YCS or regionals you determine before the game what type of shuffling you will use
