A time when young children had to be working class adults to help support the family. Their faces say it all.
The faces are due to malnutrition, underdeveloped facial bones
@@fran791 They are also due to the fact that many, if not all of these young boys were smokers and alcoholics. That was just how you coped back then, even at a young age.
@@peytonalexander5300 Not true. They were malnourished.
bloody hard life I'm sure it was 😢 I'm quite sure most of them are no longer with us. rip 🙏 😢💖
Versus the exact opposite today where kids are ridiculously spoiled and entitled. Maybe we've succeeded a bit too much.
Those poor kids probably saw the inside of a trench 15 years later.
Exactly what I was thinking
Then the complete recolonisation of their country 100 years later.

DAM... that one kid already looked 90 years old
Lol no shit he looks like the world's first face transplant recipient
Kid on the left is named Francis Murphy. He went on to be one of England's most prolific serial killers of all time. He would remove the faces of women creating a terrifying tapestry of female human facial skin over a period of 53 years. At the age of 61 he confessed on his death bed. He was never caught and people only connected him to the murders through his last words with the help of Scotland Yards investigation team. He was known as The Face Collector. It's believed he removed the young women's faces while they were still alive however heavily sedated as to not ruin his work. Some women actually came to, faceless and bleeding profusely. They never lived long after the removal. A few lived for a few weeks and then succumbed to infection.
Because most of the kids were working full time in disgusting conditions
Wow... He looks like a fckin murderer too lol

@@larrylindsey2833 Yeah, many brave people fought to secure the future we have now for children. Not perfect but certainly the best its ever been.
Though much of the fight was not necessarily for their well being. It was mostly because children were used to drive down the cost of labor since you didn't have to pay them as much as an adult.
These children's looks old because they work on an early age... ❤❤❤❤FROM THE PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭

13 years later and a lot of these lads would have been sent to fight in what was probably the most brutal war in history.
Yep. 50,000 casualties first day of Battle of the Somme. Worst military loss in British history.
War of the Roses, battle of Towton, 1461.
Worst biggest brutal battle in Bittain.
50,000 warriors. 10 hrs.
Edward 1V taking the crown . .
WW1 yes indeed and if they survived would’ve went on to face WW2
It’s a shame that over a century later the powers that be have learnt nothing. Or more likely just don’t care. No real acknowledgement of the incredible suffering the front lines go through, as they did in WW1. How do so few get into the position to speak for so many of us? WW1 was brutal, and no doubt every war since has been also. It’s heartbreaking that we still engage in such madness.

Kids were so rugged then. Feeding chickens before school, working after school little food, hand me downs.fights ,war,no vaccinations. 😢
Gave them character. Ambition. Drive. Responsibility. Respect. A TRADE❣️👍💯
I don't see any ruggedly dressed boys. Only clean respectable curious young men❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Absolutely
I see a full blown "ham", which at his young age and the rarity of motion picture cameras at the time, make him quite a rarity... He's posing, hoping the camera will get his "good side". Without a doubt, the first time the majority of these kids and people had ever seen a motion picture camera. Hopefully he was given the information, and could scrape together the nickel it cost to go see this when it was played in his local area.
Very often the people were told where they could later "See themselves in a movie", once the film was ready, a few weeks or month later.
You have to remember, people had never seen themselves on film, moving about and such. Most all of the kids and even adults, had probably never had their photograph taken, since it was expensive, and usually only those with extra money could afford something as trivial as a photograph in those days.
So it was quite an event when the early cameras set up and filmed street scenes. It wasn't until recently that I was able to find out that many of the photographers, and the companies representing them, would give an airing date of the film usually about a month later, and five the people a chance to see if they were actually filmed or not!
I can just imagine the shouts of excitement by people watching, as they saw themselves for a brief moment! 🙂🙂🙂
"More please sir" bless their hearts. Kids now days have no idea.
Neither do you.
@@dntakemesrsdoesn’t invalidate their point. And to an extent, they are more aware than the z generation of tik tok woke types. We millennials (and older, of course, older would understand more) at least can relate to the way of life then; imagine it; respect it.
I’m 30. As an elementary school kid, cellphones and mobile devices were entirely a non-aspect of our lives. In 4th and 5th grade - at an age of more “mature” thinking for a child, but still a dopamine-chasing kiddo nonetheless - we still called were mostly physical in the way we had fun with friends. The concept of a 5 hour mic’d up Xbox Live sesh, where you interact digitally instead of in person, was totally foreign. Even the less athletic, more videogamer type kids like myself weren’t ALWAYS hooked up to a device of some sort. We were walking to a 7/11 with the money we got from dad, riding bikes to the park, running away from some dude in the distance at the park we pretended was a serial killer, shooting hoops, rough housing, etc.
We were disciplined harshly by our fathers. I was expected to ride a bike by a certain age or face spankings. I was working by 15 and full-time by high school graduation.
Not that some of today’s kids don’t still work hard. And not that my generation isn’t full of lazy bums who WERE playing computer games 24/7 even IN the early 2000s.
But in general, my point is… each generation gets cushier and cushier. With each new generation that arises, we separate ourselves further from the hardships of the early 1900s. And thus there is less understanding or respect for what they went through.
I’m constipated, physically uncomfortable, bloated, and stoned (to deal with the symptoms). So forgive the unnecessary megapost.
They didn’t live long. Very sad.

Slight correction, they would have been way too old to fight in ww2

All of these children appear older than their supposed age. They matured early due to the heavy responsibilities and burdens, too early in life. So sad.
Most adults today never grow up and are still in their mom’s basement playing video games. Maturing early would have been much better for them and for society. A balance would be best I guess.
And yet, that is the very reason they were a generation of character and strength. They would look at this posh and spoiled generation and say, "so sad."
How’s that’s a sad thing?
@@Cwizes They didn't have the opportunity to be children. Instead, they were working their asses off and reaching an early demise from labor meant for adults. THAT is why I feel it's sad.

Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. The bible is no old book. You have to really let Christ open your eyes; to see the world in shambles. Many people say it's a religion to lock up people in chains, and say it's a rule book.. why? Because people hate hearing the truth, it hurts their flesh, it's hurts their pride, it's exposes on what things have they done..people love this world so much, s*x, money, power, women, supercars.. things of this world. Still trying to find something that can fill that emptiness in your heart. You can't find that in this world.. only in Christ, the bible is no chains, it's a chainbreaker. Breaking your sins into pieces... Repent now, and turn back to the true Lord only.. God bless.😊😊😊
