    Brilliant! The ol' MIL light is on and I'm 75 miles from the dealer that would probably want to keep the bike for a week and then I found your helpful video. Had the same fault today, i had the fuel tank off yesterday so figured that it was something i'd done. But it had me scratching my head. Then i remembered this vid, followed the steps and its worked a treat. Well done on taking the time to make it. You saved me having to take it to the dealer. Thanks matey. Oh where have you gone? you have not made a video in months? I hope all is well with you.

    Great video but I would like too add a correction. I set my MIL off when I started it without fuel tank, I found your video and was going to go though all this on the weekend, but it ended up resetting on its own. So (at least for the my fuel tank error) it my reset it self after some time.

    • @KARMAkazeMoto
      @KARMAkazeMoto 5 місяців тому +1

      You are absolutely correct, it may reset itself. I'm not exactly sure what the circumstances are that cause the errors to be recorded more permanently. It could be the number of times the bike was turned on/started with the problem, or the length of time the problem was detected, or the type of problem being recorded. But anyway, I'm glad you didn't have to go through the steps. For other people, of course, they might have one of these more permanent issues that needs to be resolved through this process. Another thing to consider is that if you do repairs yourself, you can reset any warnings, then start the bike and see if the warnings come back. It's a good way to check your work in the shop instead of going out and riding around potentially causing more problems.
      Thanks for the feedback!

      Just so you know for the future, it is possible that with a one-time, short problem, if you ride the bike for a while the error will go away. But in some cases, perhaps with a persistent problem, the error seems to be more permanent (to help mechanic address it) thus you need this method to clear it. 👍

    Excellent help! Ironically I just had my 2019 model (new late December) apart this week fitting a variety of part, and that involved removing the tank, and disconnecting the fuel pump. Test rode today to test all the mods and guess what, yup it was on! Your video saved me a ton of time and worked first try. I used a wire with alligator clips both ends, and that will now live in the bike with a written version of your directions. Again ironically I tested that wire to see if I can use it to power a relay and wondered what it was for :-) Just glad my LED lights and auxiliary power relay etc was not the cause. Thanks for making this video! Great help!

    Thank you! Just did the same as you did (removed tank and wired in a new device) and had the check engine light on afterward. As soon as you said you would get the light after turning on key with fuel pump disconnected I realized what I did. Now I know how to get rid of it!

    Hi Justin! How's it goin'?
    I disconnected the fuel pump on my Himalayan and forgot to reconnect it, so the light went on...But I remembered this video about the service light, came back, did the wire trick and it worked fine, Thanks to you!!!
    Just to add some information... in my case the light went out on the third time, not the forth.
    Cheers from Brazil!!!

    Just seen your video. Managed to initiate the same problem on my 2018 Himalayan.
    Switched the ignition on when the fuel tank was off !
    I have still to try your fix but now have the confidence to give it a go.
    Will post a report after i have tried it .
    Thank in advance for your excellent step by step description.

      Hello again .
      Tried the reset as per your instructions.
      Every sequence went as the ones that you said they would, but on the 4th start up the engine management light did not go out?
      My bike was first put on the road (here in Scotland) in May 2018 so it presumably is the same model as yours?
      Or is it because you have different specifications to the UK. Only difference I can think of are emissions which seem to be standard on all Himalayans ?
      Not sure if you can shed any light on why this reset didn't work?
      It was very convincing on your video and easy to follow.
      I looked at the manufacture plate on the headstock/frame and found this number --
      e11*168/2013*00274.
      It is not the full VIN Number (Vechicle Identification Number) here in the UK but that 2013 is a bit odd!
      Is that a clue, perhaps we have a different wiring harness or year model?
      I look forward to your thoughts on this mystery
      Thanks again in advance and a happy Christmas.
      Gordon.

      Me again.
      Forget all of the above!!
      Just been to the garage again and had another go at running through the sequence and the light has gone out.
      I wonder if switching the ignition on and off too quick or too slow had something to do with it?
      Congratulations on your skills at this. Electrics are not my strong point?
      If you are ever in Scotland I will buy you a couple of beers.
      Thanks again

    My 2022 Scram's engine light stayed on after a couple of failed starts on a cold morning. I tried the 'Three restarts' trick (advised on an owners forum) and also had the battery on a trickle charge for about 30 minutes....success - light went off! I don't know whether it was the three restarts or the trickle charge, or both....but it worked!

    Adjusted the valves on mine a few days ago and had to disconnect the fuel pump to get the tank off. Notice the light was on after that. Saw your video and was planning to do it as you described, but after I pulled it out of the basement the next day and started it, the light was off. Only thing I can remember that I did was remove the key to get the seat off, and then I started it after that and it was off.

    • @KARMAkazeMoto
      @KARMAkazeMoto 4 роки тому +1

      That's good to hear. I heard from someone else that there are occasions when the light will go off much sooner after riding. I'm not sure why it's sometimes won't go off. I guess if it notices the problem during multiple start attempts it must register it as a more critical error and leave the code for a mechanic to investigate. Perhaps if it only happens once and then the problem is gone when you go riding the very next time then the light goes out faster. That's all I can think of.

    • @etwilli2
      @etwilli2 4 роки тому

      @@KARMAkazeMoto yeah it was curious because we did attempt to start it right after we did the valve adjustment and it still stayed on so maybe it just needed time to clear. I'm probably going to disconnect the fuel pump again and try to duplicate the conditions. I was poking around underneath the seat and I couldn't find the wire that you used. But in reading the other comments it looks like it could have fallen into the side panel area.

    Excellent video and extremely useful information. Does the Himalayan have a service light and will this reset that as well?

    • @KARMAkazeMoto
      @KARMAkazeMoto 5 років тому +7

      The Service Engine light is a little blinking wrench/tool near the odometer reading. To clear that you hold down the right side (SEL) button on the instrument cluster, then turn on the bike, and wait. After a short while the Service Engine warning will go away. Then release the button. 👍
