You’re truly amazing! No one teaches like you! You’re thorough, detailed, fun, and loaded with information! I’ve watched tons of skate tutorials and very rarely does the instructor discuss how to distribute your weight. That’s why pivoting is so difficult for me. I need your voice in my head telling me what to do!! 😂🙌🏾🙌🏾
Hey Deborah! Super excited about this skating video! 2 years ago you single-handedly helped me EXPONENTIALLY ACCELERATE my skating journey! Current challenge: all things PIVOT! 😂 Last year I broke my ankle. I’m 100% recovered!🙌🏾 God is amazing! Because of that incident, I’m more hesitant to attempt anything that involves jumping. Can you make some tutorials on Pivots: basic pivots, pivoting while skating forward, the science behind pivoting (where to put my weight), etc! I’m soooo ready to add them to my skate flow!
Reading stuff like this makes me apprehensive about being fancy on my skates (I'm 48). A broken ankle sounds awful, but I will say that I hope you found a boot with great ankle support. I notice a lot of boots these days seem geared more towards mobility than protection. I have a Jackson Vista and it has a lot of ankle support and great stock equipment designed for outdoor skating, but obviously can be used indoor.

Wow, I came back here after a few years I used to comment on your videos and you replied once! I know you won't remember but I've now learned rollerblading, when I was learning rollerskating you were the best channel I could find! Thank you for helping me when I was younger, I used to watch your videos all the time, seems like you're still doing good!
Soooo it's the downtown with the push push but with an almost 360 degree heel to heel spin instead of the push push! 20 minutes of practicing this and I already prefer it to the push push! The spin seems to make my whole downtown smoother. If any of yous are struggling with this rewatch that video where she explains to think of the downtown as just being a cross pull followed by a cross under. Thanks DD!
Hey Deborah, I grew up skating at the rink but have not been skating in 15 years. Im going to go skating soon. I came across your videos for a refresher and you really are a great teacher! Also, can you make more videos on edges! My style of skating involves a mix of “figure skating” and “JB skating” (interesting combo right?). Figure Skating is literally all edges and I want to confidently use my edges with ease!

I really thought I wouldn't be able to do those heel to heel turns, I mean I was really struggling. Until yesterday I just looked into the clouds and it happened! You're right you gotta find your zen! 😂

I have a question... Have skates gotten faster/more slippery?? I skated a ton as a kid and it was like riding a bike when I skated in my 30's... but after many years not skating, I picked up a new pair a couple years ago and they feel faster/more slippery. Have bearings and wheels improved that significantly or is it perception?
I also noticed at the rink that I can easily skate much faster than most people with much less effort and when I skate with my friends, they often feel like they're going too slow for me with a lot more effort. I don't want to tighten my wheels though. I want to get used to skating like this, but they feel way different than skates used to.
I have Jackson's with Luminous 62mm 85A wheels and Inline Warehouse Bearings ABEC7.
Is it my bearings?? I almost feel like a beginner again.
Skates have improved but not to that degree. Just ease into it :)

I haven't skated in a while because I don't have my skates with me, right now.
This might be too advanced for me. I just started working on cross pulls and they’re not pulling yet. Saving for later tho

Idk if you've ever had this question, Im a bigger guy 😅 and I have really flat feet 😕 and I was wondering if there is a particular skate that you would recommend? My wife knows how to skate very well and it's something that I really want to do with her. I would like a good comfortable skate that is also wide in width. I have no clue about what skates are good and comfortable.
Maybe try inserts rather?
