This new video provides a first look at the next version of our multi-terrain powerchair range, "FreeSolo"
It takes technology developed through the RockClimber design, following hundreds of hours of testing and going up/down a mountain several times, and combines with the new aim of developing a crossover powerchair, whilst meeting the regulations laid down for them.
It's a huge challenge, as to have a stable platform and be fitted with components required to make it suitable for crossing rugged terrain, you need something of a certain size.
The smaller you go, the more it impacts things like stability, ground clearance and the bigger you go, well, it simply becomes unusable in indoor environments with tight spaces!
All the while, you've got to keep an eye on manufacturing costs and ultimately how much you need to sell it for, baring in mind the end users don't always have a spare £20k lying around!
There's still a fair amount of work to do, the current seat is only temporary and the bodywork design isn't finalised as yet either.
