camden kills me every. single. time. its a very vulnerable song for gracie to write and the way she sings every line one after the other and never stops just adds to the "intrusive thoughts" feel that this song gives
I love the tradition of teen/young songwriters name dropping their besties! Gracie and Audrey, Conan and Ashley, going all the way back to Taylor and Abigail and Miley and Lesley etc.
fun fact: this is not an album. gracie only wanted to call it as a project because it’s a fragments of different things. she’s currently working her debut album with aaron coming out early 2023 :)
i absolutely LOVE when emily says “do you know WHAT??? i feel the need to say SOMETHING.” and then says something completely offensive it gets me every time
they put lyrics into perspective so fast. like it takes me a couple times to listen to the songs to fully digest and appreciate them. And even then I’m still realizing things months later. It’s so offensive how fast they put things together it clicks everything together for me 😭
Hard to sleep is actually one of my favourite tracks on the album. For me, it really relates to the concept of social anxiety. Especially the lyric "I guess the gravity of going out is sinking in". She also mentions "being stuck in your head" quite a lot of times which is also very typical for people who struggle with social anxiety.
same, it’s definitely one of my favorites, you have to be in a state of mind where everything feels out of ur control to truly grasp the feeling this song will give you. I think they didn’t really dig deep into the lyrics bc they heard the melody and assumed it was just like the rest.

I think gracie purposefully called this an EP rather than an album because it wasn’t what she imagined her first album to be and said it was more like pieces/fragments of that time of her life, which might explain why it can seem a little repetitive in terms of themes (especially closer to the end) and super depressing lol
Sooooo obsessed you’ve done Gracie 🥹 she is my #2 behind Taylor!! Only just starting the vid but if you haven’t listed to her most recent single release ‘Block Me Out’ it’s truely in the running to beat ATWTMV in my Spotify wrapped which is a HUGE CALL
I get what y'all mean when you say the album can sound too depressing however to me personally, it feels very honest and in a depressive episode/state, it sometimes feel very eye rolly to hear people say things like "things get better!" I feel very validated by gracie in some of the sadder songs tbh :)
i got through a really hard depressive episode last year and this album actually helped me realize that someone out there that had nothing to do with me actually felt the same and was fine now it made me fell better
The friendship songs made we think about how y’all met?! Would you be open to doing a video chatting about how your friendship formed and how it’s been over the years living together? Maybe favorite memories y’all have as friends! Love y’all so much 🍒🌸💞

Don't know if this is something that you guys would do, but it would be so cool if you reacted to Olivia Rodrigos unreleased songs! She has a ton such as pretender, Naive Girl, gross, Victim, 21st century girls, apocalyptic crush, and more! You can find them all on a UA-cam channel called "wholseome" !
i love you both so much! i’m so excited that you guys finally reacted to gracie, she deserves so much recognition; her and her music are so beautiful! i will now be campaigning for a lizzy mcalpine reaction, give me a minute and five seconds flat are SO OFFENSIVE in lyrics, melodies, and production ❤️
I wish you girls knew how much you mean to me. your videos make my entire week and I am so inspired by you both. you always make me smile and cause me to open my music taste and I am so thankful you have fun doing these videos because I don't know what I'd do without them. also I am OBSESSED with the new background!!!
I started listening to Gracie a few months ago and literally fell in love with her and her music and I'm so glad you girls reacted to This Is What It Feels Like !!! Definitely recommend reacting to Minor, her EP, which is equally (if not more) offensive -- and fun fact, it inspired Olivia Rodrigo to write drivers license
love y’all so so much. but also when y’all’ were saying it’s depressive and stuff (which it totally is) keep in mind she was 20 / 21 / 22 writing this this record which are such messy up and down & confusing years of life :’) so to be so young and be able to process through those tough weird emotions at this time of life i think she did incredible at capturing her authentic feelings ✨ no hate to what y’all said just wanted to add this perspective in so to speak 💛
So Blake Slatkin (Older producer) is actually Gracie’s boyfriend. I think all of the songs about love and breakups are about him and their relationship timeline. I know she made a TikTok explaining it a little bit. I’m so glad you reacted to this I love Gracie so much.
Love that you’re reacting to openers!! I’m going to the Kansas City shows which will have Gracie (yay) and MUNA. I’m unfamiliar with MUNA if y’all have time to do them. ❤️
Love that you started to edit in a visual of the lyrics when you bring them up so much!! Makes it easier to follow along, ok yeah bye just wanted to say I really appreciate it
don't forget about her talent. the drama played a big part in the vitality of the song, for sure. but many people simply related strongly to drivers license or it reminded them of their own first teenage heartbreak.
@@iwouldgiveyouthemoon_ yeah she has talent but when I start to think about how many talented artists there are who remain underrated, it would always lead me to this conclusion... it's the drama
Heck yes another 2 hr video to listen to at work! I find yalls voices so soothing and I rewatch your breakdowns and reactions over and over while I work my desk job. Much love from the US :)
I would totally 100% be into and market the hell out of your podcast if you start one! Like I could listen to things like in the first few minutes of the video. Just general stuff, improv, music, Taylor OBVIOUSLY, “personal journals” sort of thing. Love y’all❤️
As a woman in her 30's, this kind of music also is hard for me to listen to over and over again because *growth* (I say it with air quotes as I am constantly growing haha) has allowed me to think things aren't always depressing/difficult. HOWEVER my late teen/20 something year old self would have listened to this album on repeat crying to all the lyrics, such a beautifully written album thank you for sharing your reaction!
Just realized (watched your react back to back) Amalie (Amelia) was the best friend from right time, and the friendship and it breaking is what sparks the events of Good Riddance (a long term avoidant/anxious relationship, drugs, and pointless hookups.) But breaking this friendship was sadly ‘necessary’ in order for Gracie to pursue her career.
This album os great, definitely for the girlies who are ✨going through it✨. I love her voice and her soft production. The Aaron trinity (Rockland, Camden, Augusta) are my favourite ones. If you ever feel like it I would recommend you listen to Maya Hawke! She is also a Taylor fan and was inspired by folklore for her second album, Moss (which just came out) and recorded it at Long Pong too.
hey bonny and em, yall NEED to listen to THIS IS NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE by ella jane!! she is a fantastic songwriter and has some offensive melodies, with some bops and some superior songs. highly recommend ella jane!
I think it’s quite obvious from this EP that Gracie has or had a mental illness, whether it’s depression or a ED, and i always thought “painkillers” was about the disease, sort of like her talking to it. “i almost like the way you fooled to make me feel like this would last forever”, like saying she would never heal from it and again “tricked into thinking you were stronger” like she couldn’t beat the disease, but perhaps she did. “i called you out and labelled you a problem” she’s saying that she was not okay and she realised she had to seek for help. Also the fact that the song is called painkillers and she says she wakes up sweating, maybe a side effects from medicines? (she then does mention “the side effect is cold resentment). i also think the codepence refers to medicines, like she can’t cope without medicines. “to sleep without you here would do me better” like if she wasn’t depressed or other, she would sleep much better. the last bit “hold me slowly” does feel like a relationship, but she said she wrote this bit when she was 16 and she added it to the song, so it makes sense! also, the fact that the following song is “alright” and it starts with “i still avoid medication” and she mentions she “never thought of a fallback”. i also have a theory that the main theme of the album is actually her disease and “this is what it feels like” refers to how it influences her life and relationships; you know, “you could never fix me”, “i’m gonna drag you to the bottom” ecc. would love to know if anyone else has interpreted this particular song like this and the album title, i always felt it was about more than a relationship
Ok so this is a little late but I definitely see what your talking about. For me also, saying this album is ,just‘ about a breakup feels kinda wrong because it dives in so much deeper and it’s also not just the mainstream concept about a breakup song. Especially in hard to sleep I think it’s about social anxiety and her being stuck in her head, which also is kind of a thing kn the whole album, because she seems to overthink a lot. This I think you can also see in Camden because in on line it says ‚self diagnosing til I’m borderline‘ which for me also feels like she’s looking for a reason why she feels this way and just doesn’t wanna acknowledge that it’s only her head which id making up problems. I feel like I just said quite obvious things but anyway, loved to hear your thoughts
I LITERALLY listened to this album for the first-time last night just so I would be prepared for both of your reactions on UA-cam, and I am so grateful bec this album is validating and doing a lot for me currently. (brb crying, bec 'Rockland' is my fave bc tht bridge is iconic 🥺)
Gracie's first album and her songs STAY, MESS IT UP, BLOCK ME OUT are so good tooo....alsoo thankyou for this reaction...i just know I'm going to keep coming back to it for the rest of my life..i love you guys
wishful thinking always spiritually reminded me of renegade - like a i love a struggling person and i need them to just grow the fuck up because i’m unable to constantly handle there issues
I got waaaay too excited when I got this notification!!! You two + Gracie is just perfection! Gracie is one of my all time favorite artists and I really love this (yes, very depressed 😂) album 🤍🤍
not to be that person who gives suggestions, but i feel like you guys would die over the album 'When Facing the Things We Turn Away From'. it's by Luke Hemmings (the lead singer of 5 Seconds of Summer) and the lyrics and production are sooooo offensive. It came out in quarantine and quickly became one of my favorite albums of all time.
this isn’t really related to the taylor universe but i think u guys would LOVE the lumineers!!! their debut self titled album is one of my all time favourite albums. the lyrics are AMAZING i may actually be begging 🙏🏼
Funny…Bonnie’s last comment is that she hopes Gracie might open for Taylor one day…and that’s exactly why I watched this vid, bc she’s one of the openers for the show I’m PRAYING I’ll be able to see! Sooo excited, tickets go on sale in one week, ahhh!! 💜 Thx for the reaction too.. I always appreciate that you see to be able to find something positive to focus on, even if it’s not exactly your new obsession…
the way wishful thinking is so connected to august? “meet you down at the bottom, finish your bottle” links to “august sipped away like a bottle of wine” and then when she sings “is it just wishful thinking you’d grow up” versus james saying “i’m only seventeen i don’t know anything”
I'm seeing so many comments telling you guys to listen to Lizzy McAlpines album Five Seconds Flat and so I just listened to it... I'm speechless. you guys would love it. PLEASE REACT TO IT!

Amalie (Amelia) was the best friend from right time, and the friendship and it breaking is what sparks the events of Good Riddance (a long term avoidant/anxious relationship, drugs, and pointless hookups.)
But breaking this friendship was sadly ‘necessary’ in order for Gracie to pursue her career.
Yall should definitely listen to "Stay", "21", and "I miss you, I'm sorry" by her they're some of her best!! loved this video and love yall!!
i love it so much when y'all react to new artistssssss
so glad you guys did this!gracie is honestly one of my favorite lyricists and i always love to hear your interpretation on lyrics.
I feel like I just said quite obvious things but anyway, loved to hear your thoughts
watching this and knowing that i get to see gracie open for taylor this weekend is so full circle i can't wait eeek!!
The way you said you hope Gracie opens for Taylor and now she actually is!! Y’all are masterminds!
Gracie's first album and her songs STAY, MESS IT UP, BLOCK ME OUT are so good tooo....alsoo thankyou for this reaction...i just know I'm going to keep coming back to it for the rest of my life..i love you guys
you guys should post a q&a video bc i have so many questions!!!!
wishful thinking always spiritually reminded me of renegade - like a i love a struggling person and i need them to just grow the fuck up because i’m unable to constantly handle there issues
PLEASE check out lizzy mcalpine’s “five seconds flat” album! her writing is amazingggg
I got waaaay too excited when I got this notification!!! You two + Gracie is just perfection! Gracie is one of my all time favorite artists and I really love this (yes, very depressed 😂) album 🤍🤍
it’s so worth listening to her other album which is quite short and her singles stay and block me out!
not to be that person who gives suggestions, but i feel like you guys would die over the album 'When Facing the Things We Turn Away From'. it's by Luke Hemmings (the lead singer of 5 Seconds of Summer) and the lyrics and production are sooooo offensive.
I always appreciate that you see to be able to find something positive to focus on, even if it’s not exactly your new obsession…
just wanted to let you know that i was CRYING when i got the notification it made me smile so big thank you so much i love u two ❤️🩹
the way wishful thinking is so connected to august?
“meet you down at the bottom, finish your bottle” links to “august sipped away like a bottle of wine”
and then when she sings “is it just wishful thinking you’d grow up” versus james saying “i’m only seventeen i don’t know anything”
omg so happy u guys reacted to gracie!!! she is the loml
Sidenote: I think you all would love Lexi jayde she has an amazing album called closer to closure.
You should react to her first ep now, its called 'Minor'! It's only 6 songs. You could also react to her Singles, there's also 6!
yesss
I'm seeing so many comments telling you guys to listen to Lizzy McAlpines album Five Seconds Flat and so I just listened to it... I'm speechless. you guys would love it. PLEASE REACT TO IT!
Please react to Florence and the machine. She is an superior artist. Her last album was mostly a Jack Antonoff album.
