This song always reminds me of my younger brother. Starting off innocent and not feeling the need to compare himself to others or prove his worth, into growing into an older kid experiencing insecurities for the first time in his life looking to me for comfort. I often find myself telling him that i dont care about anything or anyone but him.

The way he paints and constructs the characters so beautifully in less than 2 minutes is unbelievable.
My interpretation of the song is abt humility. The main character definetly brags and has achieved things but in the end he shrugs his ego off and cares for his brother, who has been like a foil/opposite to him.
My head plays a mini movie everytime I listen to it and I can't stop admiring how beautiful the song is. If DSU was available where I'm from, id def give all my savings ;-;

I love to interpret this song as one in which an older brother usually takes care of his younger brother since their parents are absent. Not only because of the fact that their parents are not with them, but because of the fact that they are brothers and the older brother loves the younger brother, seeing him grow up, infant and innocent, without knowing anything about life and without understanding anything. about what happens around him because he is a little boy, like in the part where Alex says that he runs to his little brother's room when he hears that he can't sleep, and he helps him. It's beautiful, I feel many things when listening to this song.

Is that it feels like When you finally reached your biggest dreams, you become the most Prideful bragging person ever. But at the end of the day, you always have that one person that you will always love

It's got a great cadence imo. It's so repetitive and loopy and I love that. Reminds me of leaves blowing in the wind or ocean waves.

beautiful song. my personal interpretation is about unconditional love. he likely felt the need to earn love from his friends and family “give my medals to the ones that i love” and “i wanna prove that i got the balls” shows this. and in his song ‘black hair’ there’s a lyric saying “it’s not who you are, it’s what you’ve done” and harvey must represent a younger figure in his life. a brother, nephew, son, etc. and even though harvey is immature he still has unconditional love for him, he doesn’t have to prove or earn anything.

this song makes me think of my brother. he's struggled socially and academically because he has some kind of disability and a lot of problems at home (so do i obvi, same house) and this song just makes me feel how i feel about him. i dont care if i have to overachieve to "make up" whatever it is he cant do even if it burns me out, or if we soend forever working through it all, i just want to see him happy and make sure he knows how loved he is because he is himself and thats more than enough. from the outside looking in, i know he's more valuable than he could ever realize. love u jacob

I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH OH MY GOODDD I LOVE THIS SONG ( i wish i lcould listen t oit forever and ever and never get bored of it.) it just feels so good and it's so forest themed and its like you're reading a book and what you're imagining makes edges are fuzzy. it's like you're next to a warm fire and you're wrapped in a green blanket. it tastes like living the american highschool life and going off to college and coming back to see your siblings (especially a younger brother) . it feels like graduating senior top grades.

The first time I listened to this song, I broke down completely sobbing. It's extremely difficult for music or any media to do this to me, by the way.
I proceeded to cry while listening to it for three hours, because no other song has reminded me of how much I love my sister before. And it was a harsh reminder that she no longer wants nothing to do with me, and probably never wants to talk to me again. Memories of the two of us getting along and having fun continuously flashed through my head. This song will always have a special place in my soul.

I've seen more than one fan of his refer to nostalgia when talking about his music. I can totally see that. I'm a Gen Xer & I could imagine him fitting in fine during 2 musical eras based on everything I've heard of his so far: the mid 60s & the 90s. A lot of his stuff (esp. earlier stuff) would've sounded completely in step with the indie of the 90s.
