"If necessary for years; if necessary alone." I am 56 and find myself choked up a bit with those lines.. As has been said by many others before me.....the greatest Briton ever !!! 75 years plus and I still stand in awe of this man, his words and his leadership.

Churchill's speech was of such brilliance! It's impossible to know if it was intentional or not but ONLY word of foreign origin he used in whole speech was "surrender".

God bless all those who died in that war, both allied and even the axis. Many Germans were forced to fight, few deserved to die. In fact, very few in the whole war deserved to die. It was a terrible loss, and I hope in the end that the world learned a sad lesson from it...

People can say whatever they want to. I do not give a shit for that. For me personally Mr. Churchill is the greatest stateman of all times. He is the greatest symbol of the UK of all times. His words are warning even today for some things happening in Europe, and probably also worldwide.

I watched the ceremonies in France and the UK on the 70th anniversary of the Normandy Landings. An achievement realised by the British, Americans, Canadians, Australians and our other allies. It was a team event, the navy and air force also played a crucial role. We do well to honour the freedoms gifted to us by those who sacrificed - for us. I was reminded also of the lines by John Maxwell Evans, ' when you go home, tell them of us and say - for your tomorrow we gave our today. To the fallen.... I have always enjoyed the rousing oratory of Churchill and none more so than in this incredible speech. It has always been my contention that we would never see his likes again. Never, that is, until I came across the work of a man I consider a modern-day Churchill, the international mentor and public speaker Mark Sephton. Having just discovered his incredible communication skills and searing insights into the human condition, I couldn't help but make the comparison with one of history's greatest figures.
Mark's Churchillian ability to reach out to ordinary people and speak in a down-to-earth but remarkably powerful style is truly exceptional, winning him many plaudits as well as a growing army of followers (over 7000 on Twitter!). If you would like to sample the Sephton magic for yourself then take a look at his video 'Five characteristics that will lead you to success'. Mark has a whole range of videos on his channel, covering an impressive range of topics ( just type 'Mark Sephton' in the UA-cam search engine).
I'm sure that, like myself, once you've encountered this bulldog of the metaphor and lion tamer for negative thoughts (he will fight them anywhere, including on the beaches!) you'll soon find yourself joining his many discerning followers. As Mark so masterfully puts it, 'The only people who don't get flat tyres are those who don't drive' (notwithstanding Google's driverless cars, before there's any smart comments!). In other words, put Mark to the test and you might just be amazed...I know he's changed my life forever.

this take on "we shall fight on the beaches" is better than the over dramatic take of darkest hour, and this was a movie about tornados (into the storm),darkest hour failed by making it overly dramatic,it lost the undertones that the people felt when they heard"We Shall Never Surrender",a sense of silent hope in the skies of britain

Anachronism alert. Churchill made the speech in the House of Commons on June 4, 1940. Excerpts were broadcast on the news that night---read by an actor. Churchill didn't record the speech until 1949.

We Christians shall fight for Europe. Remember, there are still Christians who didn`t forget their mother`s and ancesters faith. I, and other Christians shall fight for the Cross and Jesus. And it also consideres the German`s latest EU financial nazism.
In that aspect Churchill always inspires me. Britain, he, and Jesus Christ.

      Elberiver11 and @Aleksander Korencan Stoyakovic
Yes!. Germany is formally not the head of the EU. BUT the "Giant from the Elbe" can admit with me, that Angela Merkel has more balls than anyone else in Europe. She has more to say about EU-matters than anyone else in this 'garbage bin'. All the rest of European leaders are her Puddels. The EU is in Brussels and in Strasburg. Some of the institutes are also in Luxemburg. That means Mr.. Elberiver11, that also you have to go and learn about the issue; before you give advice to others!!. Churchill was a great man who stood with his country most of the time ALONE against the monster and mass murderer Adolf Hitler. To fight against Nazi Germany was a bit different than to fight against the Taliban, Saddam Hussein or ISIS. All of them are in military point of view small fry. Nazi Germany had one of the best armies in the world, had modern equipment and possessed the best scientists. They were even working on the atom bomb and had an installation of ‘heavy water’ in Norway. The only way to get Nazi Germany on it’s knees was …bombing it flat. By the way the Germans had started the bombing …Coventry? The Blitz of London? …
You reveal in your comments a bit of an Arab mentality. The Arabs see themselves free to attack others …But are crying like baby’s when their opponent give them a blow back.

That's right!....Churchill did not like the Jews, but had a lot of respect for the ZIONISTS!. You know why? Becouse the Zionists were hard working people who had created a fertilized flowering modern country from a Middle Eastern desert. They were wholly different people than the Muslims he had encountered in the River War (Sudan) and written about it in his book The River War (1899). You can find his words on internet.
