Not only you do. As a german, I must say, we also owe these man a huge lot. These man did not fight the Wehrmacht in the first place, but an extremely dangerous ideology and government. And I'm glad today we are friends and allies and brothers in arms.
But you know, so do the German and Japanese people, who didn't have to live under oppressive regimes and whose countries became prosperous democracies. Whatever one thinks about later wars, the sacrifices of WW II led to a better world.

One of the greatest TV series ever produced. I remember watching it when it was released. Whilst it's recollection of war, it's greatest feature was the fantastic depiction of "MEN" banding together to achieve a common goal of ridding the world of tyranny. It was also a wonderful representation of the great love and devotion these men had for each other in face of grave danger. It's an absolute shame in today's woke modern world, the way society criticise men banding together in the same way to achieve and/or complete difficult goals that the naysayers think are impossible. Today these bonds are looked down upon as the "patriarchy" stealing everyone's opportunity and ruining the fabric of society. Box them up whilst we don't need them they say, but as soon as a war like this emerges sometime in the future, they will expect men like this to be un-boxed and sent off to do the killing and possibly sacrifice everything dear to them!

USSR did not help India in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. That’s Soviet propaganda issued because of the Sino-Soviet split left the Soviets facing down both NATO and China.
Holy shit I only watched band of brothers as a little kid, didn’t really get the whole picture then, but I recently rewatched it and it really tugged on my heartstrings, honestly the closest I’ve been to crying at any film. I could drone on forever about how great this series was but I think the opening theme and credits speaks for itself and the show.
My teary moment was when they dropped into The Netherlands and Winters runs in a full sprint over the hill and spots a German kid in a uniform look at him, his face shifts to a terrified expression, and Winters puts a bullet through his chest.
