Welcome to Sant Salvador and let's explore its wonderful places together. Sanctuari of Sant Salvador (Catalan; Eremita de San Salvador is located on the Puig de Sant Salvador mountain at an altitude of 509 meters near the town of Felanitx in the southeast of the Mediterranean island of Mallorca. The Sanctuary de Sant Salvador is a monastery from the middle of the 14th century. It was built during the Black death when the altitude was believed to prevent disease. Located in the village of Felanitx at the top of Puig de Salvador, 509 meters above sea level. The views are magnificent. The monastery was completely restored in the 18th century. Inside the church there is a Gothic altarpiece and distinctive religious images and nativity scene.
The Christ the King monument was inaugurated in 1934. The seven-meter copper statue stands on a 37-meter platform. The 14-meter Picot Cross is another amazing vantage point that is a fifteen-minute walk away. From here you can see the vast plains, the southeast coast, Santueri Castle and, on a good day, the island of Cabrera. Since 2005, races up the hill (Pujada Sant Salvador) have been held here, a rally race up the hill with a length of 4.2 kilometers. The first uphill race took place in 1981.
