I am an Indian and even I was super excited for this video. Please keep exploring pakistani music. its brilliant! although i would still say the old coke studio seasons were the true gems.
Dude, I am Indian, but I say without any regrets this is some of the most soul-stirring music I have ever heard; each song was a gem better than the other. Hats off to you guys if you really arranged it that way. Just when I thought the songs were excellent, the last two blew me away and yeah, the last one, the poetry, the thought my word, muaaaahhhh fucking transcendental. You must do a ghazal special too, do one from Pakistan and have the Ghulam Ali's, Mehdi Hassan's and Begum Akhtar's enthral us all.
I was going to the same thing about ghazal, like they should explore more about gazal the name you mentioned ❤️🩹❤️🩹 there's so many others like, Nayyer Noor, talat, bano, and so many ❤
33:20 I kind of agree with you guys. Although I do love the new seasons of Coke Studio, I can't help but miss the style of the older seasons where it felt more focused on making a musical experience.
The keyboardist in Ranjish hi Sahi is one of the finest singers in Pakistan, the composer of this, and many other songs, and the voice of almost all Pakistanis, son of legendary singer Nayyar Noor, He is Jaffer Zaidi (Kaavish). Do check out his songs faasle, baat unkahi, tere pyaar mein, Tere pyaar mein etc. Dude has a magical voice.
If coke studios is The Good Thing happened to Pakistani music, Jaffar is The Good Thing happened to Coke Studios especially after Rohail left. Jaffer gave many hits, some difficult songs/classics. Absolutely love him ❤
CS has a new producer since Season 14, Xulfi. He was behind Nescafé Basement. His vision has been to bring forth younger, newer artists, musicians, singers. He also started the trend of doing all original songs with CS14. The music is still all about fusion. He has also introduced the visual storytelling element to the songs and that is how he is aiming to not only introduce Pakistani music, of all genres, to the world but also build bridges. When you watch the Magical Journeys to these songs, this message comes across loud and clear. Pakistani music isn’t just classical, it’s very diverse and has been for decades. The electronic sound since season 14 comes from Abdullah Siddiqui, who composes, co-produces most of the songs. You guys have reacted to him before, Resistance from Nescafé Basement and GO from CS 14. I do agree that I miss the more classical stuff in the new seasons though. Last season had Tu Jhoom and Thagyaan but this season was completely lacking in something similar. But then I don’t think they set out or plan to have a certain number of classical songs, a number of pop, rap etc. The songs seem to happen organically. PS….you guys missed Jhol, my fav from season 15.
"Tu Kuja Man Kuja" is a religious song that originates from Sufi poetry, which is deeply spiritual and reverent in nature. It's a naat, which means it is meant to express devotion to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Dancing to such a religious piece may be considered disrespectful or offensive to many Muslims, as it can violate the sanctity of the song's spiritual intent. Respect for cultural and religious sentiments is important, and using such songs for entertainment purposes, like dancing, can be seen as inappropriate or even sinful by those who hold these beliefs.
You have no idea how much this video made my day today. I love to watch your takes and reactions on Pakistani music. Ofcourse coke studio played a part in getting global recongntion but Pak music has already come a long way before CS. Pakistan has such a rich music history and there was a time esp 80s 90s when all kind of music genres (pop, rock, playback, classical, quwaali, folk....) were flourishing in Pakistan side by side. 100s of musical bands; most if them renowned like junoon, vital signs, awaz... many briliant emerging bands. Music videos and albums used to come out consistently . Even though at that time there was hardly any social media and internet boom, there were so many medium and well established platforms available for artists to showcase their talents. Though i love coke studio Pak, it sometimes make me sad that howcome in this age our music loving country has ONLY one such global platform of music. Why only one?
There are so many good coke studio songs still left ... You should make more videos... Paar channa de , mujh se pehli si mohabbat, tajdar e haram , faasle, pasoori
The thing about older Coke Studio was not just that it was musically great but the songs that were sung were so rooted in our culture (india n pakistan alike), past and tradition. Like the older Shazia Manzoor song you checked out was an Avadhi (a region that is in present day india) song that is sung when a daughter is leaving the house after getting married. And there are so many songs of past like protest songs, songs about love and longing, songs of stories told for ages that has carried us through. That mixed with this musical setting is so ethereal and beautiful that it transports you to a different time and that is why all of us love it alike..!!
Ranjish hi Sahi, absolute favorite in Mehdi saabs voice. Ali Sethi absolute🔥 here. It’s takes a lot of hard work and guts to replicate something like this and own it.
You guys should try to explore some more artists that you haven't seen before like Sajjad Ali, Hadiqa Kiyani, Farhan Saeed and more. Maybe a podcast with only people new to you because I feel like there's still a lot that you haven't heard outside of coke studio.
@@POTATO-p1s No worries, Ali wasn't in Faasle tbh, that's why I thought you meant Jaffer. I think they know Ali Sethi quite well tbh, they mentioned him quiet a bit and his history after the song and how much they love him.
Hello female solo traveller here . I am so excited to share that I'll be visiting Pakistan next month! 'ranjish hi sahi' - one of my all time favourites from coke studio! the keyboard player you loved in this one is jaffer zaidi (kaavish)! you heard him in the second half of 'o yaara' last time. such a beautiful, beautiful voice. consider his duet with QB next time, season 10's 'faasle'.
Finally!!! Have been talking about Mehdi Hasan Saab for a long time in comments and 'Ranjish hi sahi' is one of my favorite ghazals ever...Ali Sethi is fire 🔥 but there is no comparison to Mehdi Hasan Saab and Ali would be the first to admit it, please please listen to the original...❤❤❤ Love you guys for what you do as genuine music lovers
the man on the piano is Jaffer Zaidi 👑 from Kaavish band. He's in my opinion the rarest gem of Pakistan. His whole gunkali album is a masterpiece as well as his other songs.
I understood the message of that song. That song is call for meeting, unity for that part of the region. From the lyrics to the symbolisation of some of the frames of the video. It is great masterpiece from a modern region to reunite.
Coke Studio was started in 2008 by Mr. Rohail Hyatt, ex-band member of Vital Signs.
