This is a pretty good tutorial! Also, for everyone who can do backflip 180s but not 360s - the problem is probably because you are trying to twist too early and are forcing it. Twist in a somersault is led by rotation of the shoulders and then the hips. I recommend trying them into a foam pit at first, and not attempting to spot, instead just going with the twist and allowing yourself to get all the way round. Once you are comfortable with this movement you can begin trying to spot your landing.
@Pageyindahouse, think about. 1. believe it possible (even if you don't understand) 2. when i coach them I use a lot of visulization... 3. the twist is from the hips. 4. cyntrifical force makes it happen. Also, consider this. When you watch his skill you can notice he sets higher with his right side (he twists left.) by setting higer or 'tighter' with his right it slightly inicates his twist. when he wraps his arms into is body (as the flip reaches the top) it speeds the twist.
Thank You so much Epic. I finally learned it! The slow motion helped me alot because I got to see what you were doing. I cant wait to do it on the ground...
@bedrunner I recommend to try it on a matress. It is soft but not as bouncy as the trampoline, which is good because backflips are almost effortless on the trampoline. Thats how I train, training with a matress has really increased the speed of my tricking. First trampoline, then matress, then grass. You wont be as scared, hopefully the matress will give you lots of confidence to try it on grass. Thats how I learned my sideflip and my standing gainer. Hope this helps...Good Luck ^_^
do you have any tips for getting fit enough to do these? like core exercises for either gym exercises or floor exercises etc. thanks excellent video's i am a big fan!
Damn dude this helped a lot- I almost had Back 180's and this kinda gave me the emphasis that I needed. Jump, then flip. Thanks man. Pretty damned legit.
Hi epic. This is a great tutorial. I understood some things that I didn't know before. 5 stars of course !! Here's an idea of a great tutorial : FRONT HANDSPRING - FRONTFLIP. Thank you!
I just learnt to do one today on my trampoline. There's quite a surprising thing I found. I could not do it turning to the right (even though I'm right handed) however upon turning to my left it felt so much smoother and I could do it after a few tries. So if you cannot do it one way try the other it might work out better.
@regislindo Can you backflip? If not, then have some spotters help you until you are comfortable on your own, but make sure they no how to spot, so they don't get you injured. If you are scared of throwing the 360 into it, start small with a 180. Also try it on a trampoline or at a gym with softer landings.
Hey this is great! I can do a backflip on the ground almost perfect but the twist part is kinda getting to me... Like I know how to. It's just I need a whole lot more practice. But the vid is sweet✌️
Not a bad standing full at all man. You've come a LONG way from a few years ago when we argued about corkscrews, heh. This is a really good standing full. You don't need a disclaimer on this man - I don't even think most gymnasts wouldn't bitch about it. Nice work.
I have done this once before but I need to relearn it. It takes some serious discipline not to start twisting too early! I need to train myself to be patient but I'm not sure what the best way to do that is...btw awesome vid!
@2kidsfreestyle it'll help more to jump more up. if you're landing on your knees facing the same direction that you started from, you dont need to improve the twist. jumping up will give you more time to flip, so you'll land on your feet.
Whenever I do it I always keep my legs to strait for the twist and I bend them last second instead of doing it like you, I don’t know how to get out of the habit... any tips for that?
Your standing fulls are EPIC. :) any tips for gradually getting them because i have them on a trampoline from standing and i have them off off stuff any help please :)
Nice tutorial... i´m not sure if i can do that....i can do a normal backflip and a gainer and moonkick easily on hard floor....i´ve mastered the standing full on the trampoline ...but of course its no equation... ... What do you advise me to do now??? Thanks
Your tutorials are very good!!!!! keep it up but i have 1 question when i go for a full twist i always end up in a 180 and i try to spin more and do less flip. is this good or bad?
I got my backflip 180 down, but when I try for the 360 I land square on my face... I'm all sketched out about doing them now, even on mats. I think i'm not tucking in the 360 so I can get more spin but I flip less. I think this vid helped a lot, thx man.
@K3NDRAA1 Do you have a trampoline? Or something soft to land on? Jump up and spin (do a 360) and which ever way you spin naturally that comes to you, you should pull your full that way.
Hey great tutorial,I can do a backflip on grass and I've learned the full on trampoline but I've got a problem, I keep on landing way to far to the side , how can I control where i'm going?
hey epic, thanks a lot for putting your tutorials up!! ive learned a backflip within 15 minutes yesterday and today ive been working on my arabian doing them into my pool and i finally got the rotation and the front tuck style landing. but these damn fulls are crazy hard for me...ive watched ur tutorial multiple times but still cant get the 360 rotation. any other advice other than whats in your vid????
i can just say very good tutorial. Just like juji's tutorials strait to the point much of good informations. thanks very much lookin forward for more ;)
New tutorial...Nice. This is way out of my league for now though. But I'll get there :) You know they have Tricking lessons here in Sweden btw? Pretty awesome huh. It would be nice with an aerial-twist tutorial. I just got my first nice aerial last week at the gym so I think I'm ready to step it up :D
thank you 4 your tutorial ... it helps me to improve my twist because i can only do a half twist ...... hopefully i can do it .......... can you advice me how to make a full 360 twist ......
so. does YOUR body naturaly bring your knees into your chest, but not into a full tuck like if you were doing just a standing backflip? or should I focus on bringing them in a little so im not just doing a lay out thus risking an injury?
thank you i've been dieing for a good full tutorial! and i got an idea for you it's kinda corny but it could be cool to make a blupper video and call it Epic Fail
@Pyrotechnic1990 yeah, that makes sense. I think It's just going to take time. at the gym what is better for this flip, working on your legs or on your arms?
I have an idea for a tutorial, you could make Rudy tutorial(looks like webster 360??) havn't seen this kind of tutorial anywhere, seen it alot on videos tho... keep up the good work man ;) Good luck :) stay positive ^^
ok, so i have the backflip down, and ill be hitting the gym/park tomorrow to learn this. my only question is would you recommend tucking, or being more straight out, when flipping? or does it not make too much of a difference?
Hey epic love all of ur vids thanks finally rememberd that you have this tutorial but im having a problem i keep doing a 540 and stumble back and i cant control it . but i know that when i reach 360 i still have enough high to land perfect but if i try a 720 i still just get a 540 so hopfully u can help me or do i have to not whip my hands as hard ??? ok tyvm hope you read this
I have a question about the backflip...just the normal backflip, you know...: I'm getting an okey hight in my backflip, but my spin is pretty slow. I just can't understand what I'm doing wrong. - Do I tuck to late? -Should I tuck harder? - Should I push my knees quicker into myself? I just can't understand it...
I don't know if you can see this...it's probably going to be lost in a see of of comments....but how do you generate enough flipping force to carry you around. That's my issue...I spin A WHOLE LOT..like I'll do a 720 and only end up vertical..or a 540 and end up on the sides of my knees....I already have a really high backflip so I'm not sure how you do it... And yes I do wait until I'm in the air to start twisting..It's killing me now.. :( Help oh Epic 1; see what I did there?
How do I get control? I can land them pretty much from a standing start on my trampoline, but I don't feel in control. Will I gain control as I practice them more?
I can do them off things, but when I go to do it on flat I get scared and end up not seeing a thing, and then I land on my knees, any suggestions to that!?
What would be a good method to train your twists, usually i find I have to put in major effort to get round 540, and even then, its off balance slightly
Hi Epic, great video, as always but i still can't get the hang of it. I think it's because i got so used to doing 180 backs on the floor and on the trampoline. Now, when ever i try a full, i can only do a half twist. It seems like the harder i try, the worse it gets. Any basic tips that you have got for me? Qacermacer :)
im a cheerleader and i'm practicing my standing full very hard for like 6 months more or less but i stil dont have it, when i land i just did an half twist and not a full. do you have any tips for the twisting part? do i need to be faster?
@3RUNW4LT to make two backhand springs in a row you just need enough momentum on the first on that you would fall on your back if you don't do a second one. it's really just trying to get more and more momentum.
Good tutorial :-) can't wait see more.. but can take the slow motion just a bit slower so we can really see where the head rotation comes to play. Thank You
focus on a point on a wall straight in front of you around two feet higher than your head. keep looking at that point for aslong as you can before you tuck. this should encourage a straighter and higher flip.
I've landed this before but two things first i have NO control i dont know if ill land or not... Like no spotting no nothing just throw and pray.... second i find my self landing on my knees like im not getting enough back flip.... any tips??? sorry i wrote a book..
hey, i'm asking it because when trying this technique,my brain doesent work with it lol. it seems to me that when doing this, you dont actually tuck as you would when doing a backtuck. ( less perhaps) however when ever whenever i try to do this, i jump, torque, and as i tuck (to try and flip) my hips come round and i tuck like a back tuck, and my rotation dies. should i be perhaps drillin standing layouts ( or close to) and aproaching it that way leaning back more with less tuck? cheers.
Yo epic got a question :-P do u have any tips on how to get used to spinningmotions?? When i tried screws on dive bords i failed BIG time, EVERY time..:D:D
Hey When you said have it down. Iv been trying for over a month now to get my back flip I can walk in a gym. And just bust it. I have even been doing it on the cement in the gym to get use to it . But I can't make myself do it outside. I can throw them like when I walk out of the gym but the next day it's like Iv never done one.... How long did it take you to get your backflip down??
Sup, so I've been trying to learn a fulltwist for the longest time, but I've had major problems getting the balls to do it since I have no access to a gym or anything, any recommendations or tips to help me out?
Which way should you turn? Im right handed, and I was told to pull my right arm down and bring my left shoulder over. But it feels awkward. I noticed you pull the other way. Are you right handed as well?
@shanshanrere Why are you asking for Epic1's advise on tumbling? He doesn't tumble, he tricks. They are completely different. Tumbling requires a lay out, with both arms in the air and then dropping 1 arm to the side to get your spin. Anyways my advise to you is learn to gauge your layouts and fulls on a trampoline first, learn how to spin how fast you want. Also try not running as fast, stick it on that speed then increase the speed stick it on that speed ect.
I have an updated FULL tutorial, click the annotation on the video and you may get the tips you need from there. =)
so awesome! I think im gona try this today!
So you learnt it 8 years ago
Wow
Nostalgia

dude I'm so glad you started doing your tutorials again!

My backflips are mastered but when i go for these i only do a 180 is there anything i can do to fix that from happening?

So let me see if I understood, Back, Side and Twist, is that right?
@K3NDRAA1 Do you have a trampoline? Or something soft to land on? Jump up and spin (do a 360) and which ever way you spin naturally that comes to you, you should pull your full that way.
FINALLY a tutorial for more advanced people. Lol. Im tired of looking at basics.
I always find that street flips look so much better that gymnast flips... Too clean doesn't look right to me...
same
right
AVIX that’s ironic lol
Yea same
AVIX I hate street flips, I'm a gymnast so I do it over my head with pointed toes and the way he does it annoys me.
Hey great tutorial,I can do a backflip on grass and I've learned the full on trampoline but I've got a problem, I keep on landing way to far to the side , how can I control where i'm going?
I always do a backflip 180 but I cannot go anymore than that
Twist more then...
Great tutorial! Thanks for it!
About the sugestion , can u make a tutorial of the 360 gainer?
Thx for the atention :D
hey epic, thanks a lot for putting your tutorials up!! ive learned a backflip within 15 minutes yesterday and today ive been working on my arabian doing them into my pool and i finally got the rotation and the front tuck style landing. but these damn fulls are crazy hard for me...ive watched ur tutorial multiple times but still cant get the 360 rotation. any other advice other than whats in your vid????

Hey Epic1, I got into tricking because of your videos I must say I love em, could you tell me how to define what way I should spin? thanks
Thanks bro. I can do this now becuase of you. Now i can be a better free runner
thank you i've been dieing for a good full tutorial! and i got an idea for you it's kinda corny but it could be cool to make a blupper video and call it Epic Fail

Nice man
Finally someone that fully explains it
Thanks for that
It was really helpful. :)
Hey epic love all of ur vids thanks finally rememberd that you have this tutorial but im having a problem i keep doing a 540 and stumble back and i cant control it . but i know that when i reach 360 i still have enough high to land perfect but if i try a 720 i still just get a 540 so hopfully u can help me or do i have to not whip my hands as hard ??? ok tyvm hope you read this
I have a question about the backflip...just the normal backflip, you know...:
I'm getting an okey hight in my backflip, but my spin is pretty slow. I just can't understand what I'm doing wrong.
- Do I tuck to late?
-Should I tuck harder?
- Should I push my knees quicker into myself?
I just can't understand it...
after seeing this i had the currage to do a standing full and g step full
Nice! How do you get a so high jump? You know, how do you train to be able to jump so high?
does learning this way on a trampoline prevent adding more twists?
@MrSebastianHartley im no free runner or tricker or whatever, but i think it would be a good idea to start on mats
dude you rock ; because of you i khew what the basics are but i do it from a high place and i land on my face what do i do wrong ?
That is a damn nice backfull. Would you recomend
learning an aerial twist first
Im gonna try this in the gym today :D nice tutorial
hey kyle, when i try this into the foam pit i land way to the side i dont go straight back, and my twist is really slow. how do i correct it?
I don't know if you can see this...it's probably going to be lost in a see of of comments....but how do you generate enough flipping force to carry you around. is this a good trick to get down to learn a WAFFLE (Wall Full / 360 Wall Flip / Wall Cork)?
How do I get control? I can land them pretty much from a standing start on my trampoline, but I don't feel in control. Will I gain control as I practice them more?
This has helped me soo much.. Nice vid man
When I do them I tuck into a side flip I need help punching please cover that in a video it would help a lot
I can do them off things, but when I go to do it on flat I get scared and end up not seeing a thing, and then I land on my knees, any suggestions to that!?
@epic what if u go on your tip toes any tips on that ..cause i been doing it on my flat foot and am landing it but my hands keep touching the floor
What is the easiest, most safe flip you know and can teach?
@Epic1 Hey epic im not saying your teaching is wrong but mat armitge says to keep your arms up then down to your side does it matter?
wow very clean. thx! this is my dream flip!
:O Wow Epic This is an amazing tutorial :).
Your earlier once arnt to good, But i still learnt from them :D haha.
This onces really good :).
What would be a good method to train your twists, usually i find I have to put in major effort to get round 540, and even then, its off balance slightly
do you have a video with u running and doing a full twist?
Dang, you think your full is high enough?!
they're amazingg!! :) im working on my RO hand full right noww... and i need advice.
Hey epic i have watched this video like 20 times but i was wondering how you would do it with a cartwheel
i love u soo much, finally someone who actually helped me :D like and subscribedd
I have a quick question for you epic. is it bad if you 360 to the left but 180 to the right?
Awesome tutorial! :D
What was the song you put at the start?.. sounded cool :)
im a cheerleader and i'm practicing my standing full very hard for like 6 months more or less but i stil dont have it, when i land i just did an half twist and not a full. do you have any tips for the twisting part? do i need to be faster?
@3RUNW4LT to make two backhand springs in a row you just need enough momentum on the first on that you would fall on your back if you don't do a second one. it's really just trying to get more and more momentum.
Good tutorial :-) can't wait see more.. but can take the slow motion just a bit slower so we can really see where the head rotation comes to play. Thank You
If I had a camera that filmed in 240fps then I would. Lol
focus on a point on a wall straight in front of you around two feet higher than your head. keep looking at that point for aslong as you can before you tuck. this should encourage a straighter and higher flip.
Stay positive.you 're the best man :D
I've landed this before but two things first i have NO control i dont know if ill land or not... Like no spotting no nothing just throw and pray.... second i find my self landing on my knees like im not getting enough back flip.... any tips??? sorry i wrote a book..
hey, i'm asking it because when trying this technique,my brain doesent work with it lol.
it seems to me that when doing this, you dont actually tuck as you would when doing a backtuck. ( less perhaps) however when ever whenever i try to do this, i jump, torque, and as i tuck (to try and flip) my hips come round and i tuck like a back tuck, and my rotation dies. should i be perhaps drillin standing layouts ( or close to) and aproaching it that way leaning back more with less tuck?
cheers.
I don't have problem with the spinning, I have problems with my back rotation while I am doing the back 360. Any tips? Spin sooner or?
Yo epic got a question :-P
do u have any tips on how to get used to spinningmotions??
When i tried screws on dive bords i failed BIG time, EVERY time..:D:D
hi there, can u explain how to progress through the move (how should i fall the first couple of times)
@Epic1 QUESTION how many years have you been training
Sup, so I've been trying to learn a fulltwist for the longest time, but I've had major problems getting the balls to do it since I have no access to a gym or anything, any recommendations or tips to help me out?
Thnx 4 uploading this! :D Good tutorial on how to do a standing SkyTwister Press!
Which way should you turn? Im right handed, and I was told to pull my right arm down and bring my left shoulder over. But it feels awkward. I noticed you pull the other way. Are you right handed as well?
Man, u r Goood. thanks for helping beginners like me.
Try doing a hook kick into it so you gain way more momentum, and then doing a full.
@shanshanrere Why are you asking for Epic1's advise on tumbling? He doesn't tumble, he tricks. They are completely different.
