It’s just me (Marnie) today! We chose to make a video of this beautiful piece because of you guys. SO many of you noticed the little nod to Amelie we included in our Mad World cover a few months ago, so we figured you might enjoy a version of the whole piece!

Brooklyn Duo Bio:
Founded in 2014, Brooklyn Duo has quickly established itself as one of today’s most successful classical crossover ensembles. Through its creative arrangements and live video performances, the piano and cello duo has garnered a huge following, with over 600,000 UA-cam subscribers, and over 150 million streams annually on platforms such as Spotify and Pandora Radio.
On a whim, the couple arranged and recorded two pop covers and released them on UA-cam. Shakira noticed the duo’s cover of her song Empire and promoted it to her 130 million-plus fan base, saying: “We're loving Brooklyn Duo's piano/cello cover of Empire! Great work guys." The boost that resulted from that exposure and the positive response they were getting on UA-cam encouraged the couple to continue creating videos.
Since then, Marnie and Patrick have released over 80 videos on their Brooklyn Duo UA-cam channel and 7 albums of covers, spanning artists from The Beatles to Metallica to Taylor Swift (who also tweeted about them, saying their cover of her song “Blank Space” sounded "like a song people should walk down the aisle to"). In 2016, the couple started a second UA-cam channel, Brooklyn Classical, with the goal of introducing classical music to a larger audience. With this new channel, Marnie and Patrick aim to showcase high quality, live performances of classical music. Brooklyn Classical often hosts high-profile guest artists, including the world-renowned Dover and Escher string quartets and percussionist Ivan Trevino.
In 2017, Marnie and Patrick partnered with Carnegie Hall and Ensemble Connect, a collective of some of the best young musicians in the U.S., to produce a cover of a-ha’s “Take On Me”. The video went viral and garnered millions of views in just a few months. Popular classical music stations Classic FM and WQXR regularly share Brooklyn Duo’s music on their social media pages, with Classic FM calling the duo “masters of the artfully planned pop cover.” One of their covers was also recently featured in an episode of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy.

This is hands down the best "version" of this music that I found on UA-cam. I'm no musician so I can't even tell why. Is it the way she plays? The piano? The recording? All together? Anyway, just magnificent!
It's in the musicality of her playing. The slight fluctuation in tempo at certain points, the way some notes hang in the air for a brief moment of silence, and the way some flow together. It's truly beautiful and I completely agree. This is easily the best rendition I've heard.

yeah. It seemed the best version of the song to me too. You know why? Because of the dynamics she added into the song... I have seen many people play this song like a robot. They play extremely well but the way they play, it just lacks LIFE. Here, the music feels alive just and just because of the dynamics she added in there!

This is probably the most beautiful rendition of this wonderful piece by Yann Tiersen I’ve ever heard. Watching your hands moving in perfect synchronicity with the flow of the melody created a moment of utter calmness and serenity for me, figuratively transporting me into the eye of the hurricane that is our fast-paced world. Superb!

Hello from Germany, it really is the best version I've heard. The song was not only performed, that many can, no, there was a lot of feeling in it, and that really makes it a great contribution. Thank you very much, I listen to it almost every day. Just wonderful.
Where does talent this come from? Why are some gifted with such beautiful abilities? Why are some so chosen and while others yearn for a lifetime? It must be an early love and the hard grind of commitment. I am not complaining, merely in awe of nature and the way the cards are dealt. In my career, I had many young writers under my mentoring. I would say to them that when blessed with such a talent they had a responsibility to use it for good yet so many others use it to hurt others. Nothing like that exists in the beauty of music. At age 60 I contacted my old school music teacher who is now long retired as professor and she helps and encourages me via correspondence. It's now seven years and instead of learning music, I play sounds - beautiful sounds. My time has passed but I do pray my grandchildren adopt the commitment you have shown.

I state that I don't know how to play the piano, I'm not where the notes are, I've always had a passion for the piano and in the past I played the electric guitar. Ever since my mother bought a digital piano I occasionally dabbled and improvised, but in my mind I had a few great songs like these that I wanted to learn, after hours spread over months, I finally almost mastered this song perfectly. I'm super happy.

I had a gap of 50 years from giving up the piano at 12 and restarting at 62. I'm now 69 and learnt to play this tune a little while ago. My advice to youngsters don't ever give it up. I'm really sorry I did. It gets harder to learn the older u get. Lovely tune
