Ruto want to castrate the integrity of Kenyan Economy. We can't even breath , tax after tax to raise luxury funds for traveling from West to East. This one is a Big NO. Enough is enough
The government should have led by example by first cutting it's expenditures and curbing corruption and wasteful spending before it raises taxes on its citizens. Ruto cannot be a flying president who is always on foreign trips with an entourage of government officials and ministers or creating New positions in government while asking Kenyans for more money. The gravy train needs to stop. He should follow the example of the late Magufuli who stopped all non essential foreign trips for himself and his ministers.
I think Ruto has a bigger idea. If he is overtaxing imported goods to support manufacturing of these goods locally, that would be great because it would create jobs locally. However he might be overdoing it.
Guess how many will show up in the kind of environment of political uncertainty, poor infrastructure, bad policies and taxation regime, insecurity, unwarranted government patronage all laid on a king size bed of corruption.
Local manufacturers and farmers should be protected against cheap imports they cannot compete with neighboring countries because of high production costs
Ask yourself, why our cost of production is high and in a free market economy how long can they baby sit this enterprise before they are weaned to face the world.
Last time I checked local manufacturers import raw materials too. Ergo, import taxes affect them too, which you guys would see if y'all heads are not far up Ruto's ass

How when Ruto spends 200 million for fare instead of building factories
The cost of manufacturing and farming in Kenya is prohibitive
